How To Get Off Suboxone (Page 24) (Top voted first)

Updated

Im Marina Im 24 years old and a mother of 2 beautiul little boys. From the years 2006-2007 i was heavily addicted to Oxy 80 and eventually started doing herion. I got help in sep.2007 at a methadone clinic, it worked for as long as i was on the methadone i had NO relapse's. In June 2009 i was completly off of the methadone that first day that i was on 0Mgs I went through extreme withdrawls i went through things that i would never wish upon my worst enemy! i stayed that way for a day and a half and decided to go to a suboxone doctor. He put me on 32 mgs a day which i thought was pretty high of a dose but he explained to me that methadone withdrawls was worst then any other withdrawls. so i trusted him. Now when i go to see him every month i pretty much beg for him to start the weining process and start lowering me and he pretty much refuses. After months of being on 32mgs a day he finally started tapering me down slowly, i never really thought any thing of it till now but i realized he's keeping me on the suboxne for as long as posible so that he can get my $200.00 a month. all he is, is a legal drug dealer bc now im highly addicted to the suboxone. I recently had to go a few days with out my suboxone bc i didnt have the money to see him and i went through hell. i thought methadone withdrawl was bad OMG there is no comparison. i wanted to either use which i havent done in years or rip my face off lol its funny now but it definatley wasnt funny a few days ago while i was feeling that way! So i spoke to a good friend whos going through the same thing and he told me that they just came out with a new pill to get you off suboxone. I just want to know if that's true. I tryed googleing it but i cant find any thing. If you have heard of this new pill please respond or if you even have a good way to get off soboxone as painless and posible... thanx

Hi feliciano, From how many times you,ve cut your strip so far each little square is 2mg.
If you take that little square and cut it in half you will have two 1mg squares.
If you take one of those little squares and cut it in half again you will have two half mg squares.
Now if you took those two tiny little squares and cut them in half again you will have two quarter mg squares.
Sorry if this reply is confusing.
If somebody else could write this out making more sence it sure would be appreciated.

JOLTER, I UNDERSTAND PERFECTLY. YOUR RIGHT AND YOU ALREADY KNOW FROM EXPERIENCE THAT YOUR BODY REALLY CAN ADJUST QUICKLY TO THE DOSES QUICKLY! ITS AMAZING, I THINK IF I CONTINUE WITH YOUR PLAN, I WILL HAVE LITTLE WD'S. I AM NOT SLEEPING ALOT OR THROUGH THE NIGHT AND TIRED BUT YES, I MEANT mg's, I feel like im beating this and knowing you did it this way gives me the positive anticipation necessary* thk u. yes its a pain cutting the strips but gives me control and further pushes me to wanna eliminate this addiction. thankfully, I havnt any others.im doing .5 in am and .5 aftr dinner. im going to only do .5 in late am starting tomarrow. I have a sense of accomplishment already and am close to getting this 'monkey off my back.'' it helps to have feedback n know your not doing it alone, evn when you are. THIS SUPPORT AS IT IS THROUGH HERE IS ULTIMATLEY VERY IMPORTANT AND HELPFUL TO ME ~

Hey feliciano, What I was talking about in last reply is based on the 8/2 film strips.
I forgot to mention that.

Yes I am taking the 8mg/2mg strips, I cut once down center longways thn three times through the center to make eight mg. Then cut one of those peices in half and take that small half in am

Not true, suboxone is used to treat pain. The max amount a day is 32 mg because anymore than that the blocker takes over and doesn't allow the bupenorephine to work. There is no way to overdose on suboxone!

Good job! You can get off suboxone and your life will get back to normal. It is hard but I promise it is worth it. I've been off now for several years!

If I was down to half mg a day, I know to expect WD's..on suvs little over a yr.what to expect? And how to get energy?

Have you stopped taking the half mg once a day? If so, when did you stop?
I,m not sure what to suggest for energy. If you read some of the other posts and replies they suggest different vitamins for different things.
Sleeps allways been a big issue for me so if you can get something for when you can,t sleep that will help a lot. Only take them when you really can,t get to sleep.
Gotta get to work. Hang in there.

Let me tell you about what Suboxen has done to me. I've been on it for almost. 4 years and it as been the worst. 4 years of my life. I am always angry , no motivatin I feel numb most of the time. I can't keep a relationship. I'm 45 and I've turned into a complete D***!! And I hate myself. I used to be one of those people that joked around always had a smile on my face. I want off the s*** so bad. My doc cut me off a few months back. I just couldn't afford to keep going. So he says maybe it's best we just stop. He gave me a script for 15 strips and said taper on this. Well it didn't work out for me. I'm wondering if others have experienced the same symptoms as I did ?

Subsukyourpotential2bgreat... Are you still on here? I have been reading most of your posts.. I am very motivated by your success with getting off of subs. Great Job!!! I would like to know a little bit about Kratom and how to use it when getting off of subs. I have been on suboxone for 3.5 yrs. Now, as you probably experienced yourself, it is not to be on for such a long period of time. It has made my life suck and completely unhealthy. I can't get up out of bed, I have to force myself just to do about anything and everything, I don't eat right, I have teeth problems cuz of my diet, my life sucks. The only thing that is absolute wonderful in my life is my 3 1/2 year old girl! But I have a hard time keeping up with her because of my lack of motivation. Some days are better then others and I can keep on the go with her, but most days are not like that. And for that, I feel like the biggest piece of s*** parent! Even though she knows that I love her and get her out to play with other kids, I still feel like this is not how my life should be. Anyway, sorry for that long, boring story. I have been taking 2mg a day for the past year. If i do not take one as soon as I get up, I'm already having withdrawals and severe anxiety within hours. I have anxiety disorder and attacks for 9 years now. Even taking Zoloft, the anxiety is bad if I don't take a sub as soon as I get up. So my question for you is how much do you think I can cut down? 1mg? And for how long should I take that until I can cut down again? I have two months worth of 8/2mg left. I want to get off of this s***!!! My doc is a complete f***ing i**** (excuse my lang.)!! Says I need to be on it for life!! I told him that he was wrong. I am very, very scared of the withdrawals but thru what you have posted and other people on here posted too(good job to all of you) it seems very possible. I just wanted some advice. And does anyone know if that SubRI guy posted any new info about that research he was gonna be in for a new drug to help get off of the suboxone????? Thank you!!!

Ye it's a generic suboxone....i took them before they were the same to me...just the milligrams are different I think they come in like 5.7 mg which somehow is suppose to be equal to 8mg suboxone....a lot of insurance companies stopped paying for name brand suboxone so they came out with these generic ones I think.....

I really appreciate your kind words. I have been on 1.5 Subutex a day for a little over a year now. My doc says it's time to detox and I am scared and excited at the same time. I just don't want to feel "fuzzy" headed anymore and would love to lose weight and be me. I am very manic when I am sober and it scares the hell out of me because I have a 20 month old baby boy now and I am double majoring in college. Subutex has been a blessing but I am so ready to be sober. Any suggestions for me???

Hey guys,
I'm loving all this great info. I was a chronic pain patient for 15 years and was addicted to opiates. When the pain was resolved I went on Suboxone. I've been on it for over 4 years and I've decided to get off. Because of pain issues, I increased the dose to 12 mg a day. Omg, when I only take 8 I feel so crappy. I don't need it for pain now, but I feel the wd so I can't just go back to 8. After reading all of this, I think I'll take 10 for the next 2 weeks and if I feel ok, I'll go to 9mg. Do you think going down 1 mg every 2 weeks is too fast? I'm thinking maybe when I get down to 3 mg I'll take a week off work and drop to zero. I would have 9 days to get through it. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Monkey its just my opinion but i think i would keep going till i got down to .5mgs it will help with the wd and a better chance of not relapsing also excersize and eating good meals will help i know that 3mgs dont seem like a lot but suboxone is very strong and very hard to stop i hope you do get off this i know how hard it is ive been trying for awhile and its hard just keep faith and keep strong you can do this let us know how things go were here for support if you need us if we dont know we will find out thanks. Steve

Monkey I agree with Steve, you should go as far down as possible. I started on 32 mg and went down to 24 mg then to 16 mg, then 12 mg then 8 mg and I dropped 1 mg every week until now I am on1 mg and I can't for the life of me get off this 1 mg. it's much harder than you think. It does also depend on how long you have been on it, I have been on it for 7 years. I think If I would have stopped after a year I would have been good but after that it just gets harder and harder.
I hope you are strong and continue to come down, if anyone has any suggestions on getting off this 1 mg I would really appreciate it. Thanks, Cheri

everyone is definitely different when it comes to tapering....i went from 8mg to 2mg in a matter of a week and a half and had no issues at all...i was on it for 5 years....i know some people who got sick dropping down just 1mg but i never had that issue at all.....i never took over 8mg though....i think people that take anymore that 8mg is a waste and not needed....32mg a day is just beyond ridiculous....to me its definitely a mental thing when it comes to how much mg u should be taking....8mg is plenty to take trust me...but when it comes to tapering i would try to do a big jump (ex: 8mg to 4mg) just to see how ur body reacts to it....thats exactly what i did....one morning instead of taking a full 8mg strip i said screw it and i took half (4mg) and i was fine! In my opinion trying it like that is the best way at the very beginning because you dont know how your body is going to react to it.....its best to do it at the very beginning of your taper because if you are fine doing a big jump then doing a slow taper would be a waste of time....now if you cant do a big jump then obviously a slow taper works best....you have to try every option first...you will hear a different taper plan from every single person because there is no correct way to taper....its all about what works for you....after i jumped from 8 to 2mg i stayed on the 2mg for a while tho then i gradually started cutting down after that...at my last few months on subs my Dr was only prescribing 5 (five) 2mg strips a month and they would last me an entire month....i started cutting the 2mg films in 6-7 little pieces and just started taking them that way....i was a little uncomfortable for a couple days but it was nothing major....i was down to about .2 mgs when i got off the subs....but i used tramadol at the very end and that stuff saved my ass big time!!! a week or 2 on trams at a maximum of 200mg a day and it 100000000% worked for me....you arent replacing subs with an opiate when u do trams so dont listen to that nonsense if people tell u not to take them....you arent gonna get addicted to them by being on them for a week or 2 and you arent going to have seizures from them....all they do is take away the WD symptoms so dont expect to get an opiate high from them and definitely do not take more than 400mg in a day (u should be fine at like 150-200mg anyway)....my last 2 days i took a half of a 50mg tram and that was it i never looked back!.....unfortunaltey there is no possible way to get off subs without having some type of WD symptoms but tapering down to the lowest possible mg will definitely make it easier to deal with....but trust me if u can get trams from your Dr then do it!! It will make it 100000 times easier.....
