How Can I Get Subutex Not Suboxone? (Page 4) (Top voted first)

Updated

I don't know how to go about this as I am shaking and can barely focus, I need help! Please. I fear that my life is going to end from my abuse of opiates. I am currently taking 250 mgs of oxycontin per day. I have a loving fiance and a stepdaughter that I want to be here for. I sit here with cold sweats, and fear going out just because I may make the fearful turn to the meds. Any and all info on how to obtain Subutex would be much appreciated. This wasn't what I wanted my life to be, and I can not let it end this way..Please help me. I am not a religious man but I pray for help as I am at my wits end with this drug.

I'm in fall river. Does anyone know of a doctor here who is willing to prescribe them?

Hey querty, how did you almost die from it? I know I need to read up on naloxone a bit more myself I thought it was the blocker. Like if you were to try and abuse it (suboxone) the naloxone would attach to the receptors instead of the bupe correct? I'm not sure but I do know bupe effect ppl in different ways. As for me I'm on zubsolv and it just makes me feel normal.

I used to get baaaad headaches when I was on suboxone and didn't mind since the pros outweighed the cons. Now if I was on subutex I know I would have abused the hell out of it and no telling what kind of drug cocktails I would have taken until I overdosed. That stuff is hard to get for a reason. I'm currently taking zubsolv and never experienced any side effects besides the expected constipation lol. It's cheaper and might be a better match for your situation

I am prescribed subutex rather than suboxone. The main reason for my doctor doing so was because of the naloxone. I found out I am allergic to naloxone about 6 months ago. The price comparison of the two drugs is another major issue. Subutex is $400 cheaper for me because I have no insurance. Also, I was already taking the subutex when I finally got in to see him. I have been honest with my doctor from the beginning. I pass my drug panels and don't have any other scripts filled. Those three things go a very LONG way in the suboxone program. If you need the subutex for the reasons I mentioned above, be open and honest with your doctor; but if you are wanting subutex to abuse it, beware! Your doctor will find out, and he/she will cut you out of the program in a heartbeat!

I've treated a fair number of "rich kids" addicted to opiates and haven't found ONE pretending to be an addict for the attention. The one or two-times in my career this happened, it didn't get past me beyond your first session. I'm Board-certified in Child & Adolescent Psychiatry, which further qualifies me to work with kids. As I tell my patients; "The money didn't jump out of your pocket into the dealer's hands and the drugs didn't jump up your nose or in your veins." I have the licenses mentioned, although I've only used them to countersign scripts written by my fully-licensed Residents whose judgment I trust. I'm not a fan of substituting one opiate for another unless we're appealing to the Court of Last Resort. You're just looking or more excuses to feel high without too much inconvenience. That's NOT RECOVERY. (And I"m no fan of 12-step "cults" either.)

Are you serious? "looking to feel high without too much inconvenience"? WOW. thats pretty harsh. I have been an opiate addict since i was 15. (i am now 46) after going back and forth between subutex, dope, methadone for years...i am now on 90 mgs of tablet methadone and am finally on the "right" dose. Not feeling sick but not nodding out at 2 on the afternoon. I'm certainly not "looking to feel high", because if i want to i will just buy smack. And im certainly glad that my addiction specialist doesn't have your arrogant, condescending attitude. UGH

my doctor was the addiction specialist for the denver nuggets basketball team, speaks regularly in front of the legislature, and is now a consultant who speaks about opioids all around the country. (he retired from his practice after 30 years) i will go ahead and trust him and my current physician/addiction specialist instead of some narcissist on a chat. the reason i am just now stabilized is 100% my fault, not his. too much to get into here. and you know how they say you cant get clean unless you WANT to? at 15 i didnt WANT to be clean. so all that "if you were MY patient, it would have all been rosy, blah blah blah..." ? save it. i was addressing your rude comment about people "just wanting to feel high". you certainly dont SOUND like a "nice guy" by any means. like i said, if i wanted to feel HIGH, i would just buy dope. anyone with an ACTUAL opiate tolerance/addiction? too much methadone just makes you sleep and too much subutex doesnt do ****. so maybe your little 15 year old addicts that pretend they want to be clean to get their parents off their backs? maybe they can feel high on methadone. but anyone with a REAL habit? nope. reply if you want, dont reply, i dont really care. i doubt i will respond or even read it for that matter. because any "doctor" (which i still doubt you are) who says the things you have said here should probably be avoided anyway.

Didn't mean he was Board-certified in a field that doesn't yet exist. I have a PhD in Pharmacology. A doctor's job is to do what's best for the patient, not what's most convenient for all concerned. As for me, I'm certified a licensed and Board-certified Psychiatrist with five or six specialty sub-certifications, such as Child and Adolescent; Forensic Psychiatry; Psychosomatic Psychiatry, etc. Look at your post. That was written by a spoiled 15-year old throwing a tantrum because she didn't con another doctor'; it is not the prose of a reasonable adult. Q.E.D.

Most posters are correct....if you want OFF the merry-go-round take the Suboxone and stick with a program. I was taking 300-350mg hydrocodone a day at my double digit year peak of addiction and went to rehab. Detoxed painlessly on Suboxone in 5 days and got out 30 days clean and was back on pills within the week....after that found DR to detox me who had no problem treating my ongoing pain from pancreatitis with the Suboxone....so I settled on lowest amount that managed it (8-12mg day) and 3 years later have not looked back. The Naloxone keeps me honest and how awesome is it to take one pill under tongue each morning and go off with no worries....no pill counting, no manic depressive behavior, no fear and best....no monthly WD nightmares. Subutex desire is sign you are not ready to give up the ride IMHO. Until you are, it will control you and not the other way around. With Suboxone, for a surgery all I had to do was stop 36 hours before and was able to take opiates for pain as RX....BUT....because buprenorphine has such a long half life and binds to mu receptors first, blocking full agonist opiates....there was no high and any relief took 2-3X normal dosages....my guess is all you stand to gain from Subutex is bouncing back and forth until caught in violation of a drug treatment agreement and back on the street.

The only reason i had subutex instead of suboxone is because i have liver disease and chronic nausea, and the naloxone made me sick. And the only reason naloxone is in suboxone is to keep people from IV'ing it. Now, if one has a legitimate opiate tolerance, buprenorphine doesnt make you feel high anyway. So how is being on subutex any more "abusive" or whatever, than being on suboxone?

You want subutex because you want to have your cake and eat it to. I heard this f***ing story a million times. If you want to be sober u would take the suboxone. Am I right?

Even hello my friend, you are not alone and I can relate to you as I am also in the same or very similar position Myself. I have a local CRI and CDAS now know as STARS in my area. I have become very isolated and I feel the fears you do. It was never my drug of choice. Now 37 I avoided the drug until about a year ago and now I am reliant daily on this horrible drug. I have tried to go cold turkey a couple of times and lasted all of a day as the withdrawals are strong, mentally, physically and emotionally. I have been to my local CDAS and been scripted always a daily pick up and the dedication to the daily pick up is a must and I couldn't even manage to do that due to anxiety :-( The other option is private doctors you can find on the web, though this does cost. I personally would favor in this instance to go for subutex over methadone as the methadone could end up in a double habit double the agony on top of the opiates. Strongly recommend to avoid the methadone. It is your decision at the end of the day and the doctor should go with what you say don't let them sway you otherwise unless you agree with there reasoning. You will have good support with STARS/CRI/CDAS. Also I would highly recommend joining an AA NA or CA meeting there is no one else that will never understand an addict than another addict you will find love, support and fellowship like no other and people from all walks of life it will blow you away like no drug could ever do. This could be a good starting point. You will find AA NA and CA meetings all over the world and if you don't feel ready to go out to a meeting you will find web-based meetings. Please try. I should do the same, it all sounds so easy and it is, we are worth it. I wish you all the very best with your recovery. I hope I have helped even a little.

It does not break the cycle but what is so scary is if you're getting older and I've been on methadone for many years since the seventies, off and on. I've kept on it many times. It's the hardest drug I've ever had to get off. Much harder than the opiates that got me there but Suboxone that is some bulls*** right there, it does nothing for me and it does not help the pain in my older age. I have recently had my fourth knee replacement and getting ready to have 3 disc put back in that have slipped out of my back. I have to have minimal medication and not be on anything of that sort for that kind of surgery. I've already had several incidences since the surgery because of opiate blockage. It is harder if it it's like a torture chamber so my best advice is try to stay away from those two things methadone and Suboxone, any opiate blockers period. You can always go by the 24-hour Weisman detox method. If you got the 20 grand which most of us do not. The whole thing is we get older we get paid we have wrecked her body with opiates and doing things we would never done if we weren't so high. If you can tell me a better way than just detoxing yourself down very slowly and using your strong mind and your strong will it's called getting sick and tired of being sick and tired and you can use minimal pain medication for your pain but as far as trying to keep you off of addiction it's in my DNA all my family are addicts way back. I know I'll always be an addict but I'm at a point to where I can grow it control it to a bare minimum. I'm not saying I get out much I'm not saying my mind works as good as it does when I'm high actually it works better when I'm high because detoxing and being straight after being high for so many years it's like wow I'm losing it but it comes back leaving me I have kicked methadone after being on it for 7 years at a time three times on the county jail floor. I have never needed 6-month inpatient except when I went to prison and yeah they got me sober. I didn't do drugs in prison. I wanted to go home. But there are more drugs in prison than there are on the streets so that was an accomplishment. Just take it one day at a time. Gets sick and tired of being sick and tired and do something about it. Medical marijuana in Colorado does the trick pretty good. Anyway you get to an age and just catches up with you and good luck on your journey, you're going to have a hard one. I could write a book about my hard ones. Almost didn't live through many many times. God's got my back for some reason. I have a mission on this Earth and I will fulfill it.

MISSCRYSTALHEROLD: I know this is old, but I am wondering if you were able to get on Suboxone. And when I switched over, I was on around 65mgs. So I certainly don't think it is necessary to get down to 30mgs. But what IS necessary is to be in real, full-on withdrawal first, or you will be in TROUBLE. Precipitated withdrawals, aka HELL. Anyway, I hope it all worked out for you.

AMANDA: You are most likely having a bad reaction to the Naloxone in the Suboxone, which isn't in the Subutex. The whole time I was on Bupe, I had to take Subutex, as the Naloxone made my already chronic nausea and migraine problems much worse. Fortunately here in Colorado, they haven't made the changes between Subutex/Suboxone that has happened other places. I am back on tablet methadone anyway, which works better for my addiction.

AMANDA: Can you get documentation from your doctor that you are a migraine sufferer and that the Naloxone is making them worse? That is probably the only way you will still be able to get Subutex.

AMANDA: That is probably your only shot. Maybe head to the ER with a "blinding migraine" and get that paperwork. You know what I'm saying. It may be the only way.
