How Long Does Levofloxacin Stay In Your System (Page 4)

I will be taking Levofloxcin 500mg for 10 days. How long will it remain in my system after finishing the medicine?

Please, how do I get this out of my system? I had pneumonia and a staff infection from surgery. Now I have a ruptured ache lies tendon. This is a horrible drug. They need to stop prescribing it.

I have taken Levaquin several times over the last 15 years for pneumonia and can only say it has saved my life.

I took levaquin for 7 days beginning on March 11, 2016. Admitted to the hospital on March 13 with what was diagnosed a Pneumonia. Stayed for 3 days after which they said it was not pneumonia. When leaving the hospital had accuite chest pains, wheezing and unable to walk also very weak. This is March 16 and have not recovered from acute pain swelling in the and ankles and the Achilles tendon. Many drugs have been prescribed with no result. Now taking anti-swelling medication, antibiotic, and a 1900 dollar drug called Pennsaid. No results yet. What about a good lawyer.

Levaquin gets out of your system within a few days to a week. It's detoxified very rapidly from your system. Those who get injured or have severe side effects after taking Levaquin are not suffering from Levaquin still in the body, but the effects of the damage done by the strong chemotherapy agent that Levaquin is.

Keri,

I've made several comments here and have been suffering side effects from levofloxin for over a year now. I don't quite understand your comment about it being a chemotherapy agent. I thought it was a antibiotic.

It's actually both. They bill it as an antibiotic, but it's actually a chemotherapy agent that also kills bacteria. Antibiotics work by affecting the offending bacteria in some particular way, for instance, by preventing them from reproducing by denying them an enzyme. The Fluoroquinolone antibiotics work by damaging the actual DNA and MItochondria in the bacterial cells, which damages and kills the cells. This is the same way that chemotherapy agents act. They kill cancer cells using this method.. but they make you very sick in the process.

Why does chemotherapy make you sick? Well, guess what? It kills the DNA and Mitochondria in YOUR cells too! You just have a lot more cells in your body so it's kind of a 'race' to see if the antibiotics will kill off the bacterial cells before so much harm is done to YOUR cells that you are noticeably injured.

In most cases, the bacteria 'lose' the race and are killed off before you are noticeably harmed, but some people, for many reasons, are harmed before the bacteria are killed. But in ALL cases, the person is harmed to some degree, they just may not notice this slight damage if they are otherwise healthy. But for those with various underlying issues, they can be badly damaged from this killing off of cells in their body.

I just found this page. I took my last Levfloxacin 500 mg. yesterday. I have fibromyalgia and have been blaming my new dog for the excess pain I've been having. When all along it was the antibiotic, not dog walking. I'm been out of work for 2 weeks. Sinus infection thus antibiotics. Excessive pain this week. Seriously, I have no strength in my arms, shoulders or legs.

June, I also took Levaquin for 20 days. The day before my last dose I started feeling severe pain. Now, 3 weeks later I am walking and moving like I'm 90, and the pain is severe!!! I too was referred to an orthoped but I'm opting to try acupuncture and an herbal cleanse. Please tell me if anything helps you. I'm a single mom to 3 kids and it's getting harder everyday to be a mom and go to work.

Hi..i have taken levofloxacin for 10 days 500mg 1 pill daily..also i was taking 40mg of predizone daily for 5 days..i had a sinus infection..as i had fluid in both ears..so while taking the pred the the feeling in my head was almost gone but then after the pred i had 5 more days of the levo and the light headness came on and off..i have finished the levo now for 36 hrs..but my head still feels a bit funny..is it the side effect of the levo? how long will it stay in my system?

I took 500mg for 10 days, which seemed to have paralyzed me; slowly after days I could get up...That was nearly 5 months ago and every time I use a muscle differently or several other things it flares back up and comes out in round spots on my arms. My shoulders still hurt most of the time. I had to get a shot on one side. It seemed to then spread to my head and started migraines for a month. I finally found a med to stop that.. Just came on here now to see if I could find a way to get it out of my system..It has been 4 months now and still just as bad at times.. would squat yesterday and couldn't get up due to the pain and swelling. It's somewhat better today so it seems to come and go. DON'T TAKE IT!!!

I took one 750mg at 6 pm woke up at 2am with swollen ankles! It's been 6 days and I feel out of balance when I walk and feel dizzy. Will this ever go away? Please someone help... I hate this feeling!

Hi there, I took Levaquin for 5 days in January and have had so many issues from it. You will definitely get better, don't be scared, it takes time to get it out of your system. the best thing that you can do in my opinion is detox as much as possible. Try go to a holistic doctor and add vegetable and fruit juices to your diet.

Yes ..this drug is horrible..terrible side effects that don't go away, ruptured tendons, nerve damage, confusion...it is horriable...you can loose your job..there goes everything. I want no more pain.

That is a wrong and ridiculous response!! Those side effects does not mean the medication is working! It means it is causing a problem in your system and that it should be stopped immediately!!! Stop giving out dangerous advice like this since you have no clue what you are talking about!!!!

Prscrbd 1x10 days. Took 2 doses. EXTREME anxiety! Heart palpitations, breathlessness. Vision is off - hurts to look at tv, computer or cell phone. Muscles in my legs, back, shoulders and neck ache like never before. Have to lie down every so often. My doc became angry because i refuse to take any further. Prscrbd smthng for anxiety. Not taking that either! It's now been 5 days since last dose - feel like i"ve been run over by a truck. Bronchitis & sinusitus.

I was prescribed levaquin 750 mg 1 a day for 3 days. After taking the first pill at 5pm during bedtime I couldn't sleep. Insomnia and severe anxiety. Had to walk it off and finally after 3 hours I used essential oils to calm me down and was able to sleep but man was it a horrible feeling.
