I have a fib and my doctor has put me on Multag and I read warnings and it says " What is the most important ifno that I should have before taking multag is" Multag is not for people with severe heart failure. People who have severe heart failure who may take multag have an increased chance of dying." It further states that heart failure means your heart is not pumping blood through your body as it should. I guess my concern is what is severe heart failure? My last report was that my heart was at 30-35 and that 50 would be good. ## Well I finally received an answer on the question as to what is severe heart faliure from a Doctor and that is when the heart refraction is less than 30-35. I am really surprised that no one elso has commented on the warning of possible death from...

Any time you feel chest tightness and are experiencing fluid retention, you should contact your doctor immediately, those can be symptoms of congestive heart failure, which I found out the hard way. I'm not saying that's definitely what it is, because I'm not a doctor, but you should definitely have it checked out, to be on the safe side. ## thank you for your reply. i had blood tests done since i asked the question, found out my cholestrol is perfect, blood pressure perfect, liver and kidneys r good, sugar a bit high am addressing that. no arthiritis in feet, no gout, low throid level taking meds now for that. next ...

Since this medicine increases or assists in making dopamine has there ever been a trial or test in ALS patients?? ## There have been a few theories and smalls test done, but nothing conclusive has been found, so far. It can be hard to get approval for such trials, due to the risks they post to the people with the conditions, who are force to forego conventional treatments. Are there any other comments or questions?

I seem to have a fixation on buying things, eating, I was told it was probably lack of Dopamine, take Tripiline and these habit will calm down ## Have you consulted a doctor? There are several medical issues that can cause these types of behaviors and your doctor can run tests to determine which it is and help you discover your proper treatment options. Trying to self-diagnose and self-treat is really never a good idea. The medication you're referring to contains the active ingredient Amitriptyline, which is a tricyclic antidepressant. It requires a doctor's prescription and isn't an appropriate medication for everyone.

Does Sulfameth/Temp Ds tabs affect the thyroid in any way? In the past, I've had borderline high thyroid condition. I currently take Solalol and Digoxin for a heart condition. I've been taking it 2 x day and experiencing night sweats and palpitations ## It did mine..made my heart race like a "cat" running. ## Although thyroid side effects are not mentioned in the patient guidelines, this medication does cause side effects that can effect the function of your thyroid, such as; irregular heartbeat, fever, chills, weakness, difficulty breathing, etc. You can view a list of side effects in the paragraph below: Severe allergic reactions (rash; hives; itching; difficulty breathing; tightness in the chest; swelling of the mouth, face, lips, or tongue; unusual hoarseness); blist...

Would it be wise to stop taking the multaq after 4 days since the side effects are just too much? Upset stomach ,heartracing, abdominal pain and shortness of breath are just some them. ## Have you consulted your doctor? Those do sound like some pretty bad side effects and that's not a long period of time to be taking, but if you are taking it to treat irregular heartbeat, then you do need to do something to keep that under control, so I wouldn't suggest any chances, until you speak with your doctor. In addition, most side effects will start to taper off, as your body adjusts to the medication, which can take a period of 4 to 6 weeks. Your doctor may also be able to recommend something else that you can use, in the meantime, to lessen their severity.

My spouse has been on multaq for A-Fib for about 16 months. He was previosly on flecainide for many years. About 3 months after Starting multaq, he went into V-Fib,suffered Sudden Cardiac Death. He was brought back witin 3 minutes, spent several days in the artic blanket and and much more time recovering. His doctor insists that there is no evidence to suuggest that multaq has anything to do with this. Does anyone have any info on this? Is Levosimendan available in the US? ## The US trade name is Simdax, which is manufactured by Abbott labs. ## Where can I get Simdax in the U.S.? My mother is age 73 and currently has a pacemaker implanted. She has been diagnosed with congenital heart failure and is having a very difficult time walking around for extended periods of time and keeping her energy levels up. She was told about the above-mentioned medication as a probable solution for giving her back some of that energy that she has lost. She understands that it's not a long term solution but would like to explore the option.

I had been taken off of Amiodarone because I was drifting towards hyperthyroidism. The EP put me on Multaq which was totally ineffective in keeping my A-Fib under control. After a year of this, and being in and out of A-Fib for all that time, and miserable, he and my cardiologist decided I should resume Amiodarone. It's been about 2 months now since the changeover and I feel great! No A-Fib and, so far, no side effects. If I start to have thyroid issues again, I will have to deal with that or be a candidate for ablation. ## I am glad that the Amiodarone is working well for you, now. Multaq has, unfortunately, proven to be one of those medications that works really well for people, or not at all, it seems. We've had some people get great results from it, but just as many others t...

Until monday, my life for 6 years has been AFIB hell. I was one of the first 400 test subjects and it worked. They cut off my supply at the end of 14 months, and my heart &body was able to function for an extra 9 months, Without meds, I spiralled into walking death, in the interest of FDA policy. 5 zappings without Multaq only fried my chest and back over the 6 year embargo. Finally, the FDA approvoed, and a couple of months later the U.S. VA ordered me a supply of newly remaned MULTAQ. I took it dutifully for almost a year, and then a smart cardio doc at the VA scheduled a new electro-zap. Miracle of miracles...It worked! After six years of very miserable AF, with maybe a THIRD only of normal circulation, I woke up beating textbook NSR. In the intrim my feet had swollen over the ye...

I would not recomend on trying this because it will lead to certain death as heart failure ..... My sister tried this and she ended up dying from cardiac arrest so it would not be a good choice to crush it up and try to inject it............. ## Thank you for the post, Clint. I always try to warn people on here that ask about it, because trying to inject any medication that is not intended to be used that way is very dangerous. Tablets contain more than just the active ingredients, they also contain fillers and not all of them are meant to be broken down by the human body. Normally, they are just expelled in our body waste. If someone tries to crush and dissolve a pill to inject it, they are putting these substances into their bodies in a way, in which, it cannot process them out. This ...
