sorry, if you think i jugdeing people,i am not god !
Sorry if you think I have misunderstood anyone on this site. I am not judging anyone!! If you know anything about my past life u would understand. Yea im a vet too. Many of my friends have taken what the va gives them. 9 months of hell. I had 2 friends get the old treatment, one with a stage 4 liver problem. Sad he stopped because he wanted to die. With the interferon treatments, I hope and pray that I am a lucky one, as I sit here with no support and today depressed. My pain meds are not working and my thoughts are not right. I guess work's good, even though I hate my job, yea. I've been to some places on this earth, and seen things that the walking dead wouldn't even touch, so I only let god judge, and pray, take pills, just try to do the right thing. If I get all these bad side effects for this med, at least it's documented. Thank you for your time.
I worked thru treatment also because I had to survive. But I suffered and I am still suffering two years later. Please do not judge everyone so harshly. That isn't fair or decent of you. I personally do not know anyone on disability who finished treatment. Maybe they would be better off if they were. Many are financially struggling because they are so sick now. Very disappointed to read what you wrote. Don't judge because there but by the grace of God go I.
James, hearing you get thru Harvoni is great. Hearing how hard you are pushing yourself to keep your job and insurance is a testament to human strength and desire. I applaud you and I am sincere about that. However for some reason, could be previous knees l illness or genetic make up, I don't know, but some people react differently to Harvoni, and it's not just a few people on this board and a few on a couple others. Look at the FDA complaint site for Harvoni. People have died. People have heart attacks with no previous heart issues. There are about 100,000 complaints, mainly serious. I know one veteran - someone that volunteered to protect this country - that can't get out of bed and had no issues previously. Looks like you are going to be a lucky one that when you are finished you will be free of the dragon and carry no lasting effects. I am happy for you. Don't judge the rest of us until you have walked in our shoes.
Well i am on day 46. I'm not feeling as bad as i did with the first few weeks of taking this med. My viral load is o, yea i'm still weak, i push myself, did work, i have to keep my ins, or i'm screwed. I work in the oil and gas service industry. 14 hours plus some on days that i am in the field. I am 59 years old, with no support from anyone other than my docs. My company doesn't give a s***; work or leave. The gi doc wants me on light duty. My company will not honor it, because there is not any light duty in this line of work. Some days i feel really good, then there are bad days. I only drink water, lots of bottled water. I don't trust the water in new mexico at all. I have high blood psi, and fylmbro, and 2 disks out in my back, and other things but yet i continue to work. So all these bad reviews on this med i guess i don't buy them. Maybe these people are lazy and don't want to work. Yea i'd like to get a ssi check, cause i got to be crazy.
Hi everyone, I just wanted to give an update after my original post. I was having painful side effects my first 2 weeks taking Harvoni and was debating whether or not to stop treatment, but after about 3 weeks the pain went away. I started taking it at night and that really seemed to help me a lot, since most of the pain was within the first few hours of taking it. I finished the whole 8 weeks of my treatment and have not had any lasting side effects since it ended. My blood work shows no signs of the virus anymore but I have to go back in a couple months. I'm glad it all worked out and I was able to finish, and Im really hoping the long term effects are not damaging. Thank you for your input a couple months ago, it really helped me out.
Lisa M, I often had "liver pain" and at first I was told the liver has no nerves, so you can't be feeling your liver. Then a different doctor saw that my liver was very swollen and told me what I was feeling was the liver stretching the capsule surrounding it that has lots of nerve endings. Don't know if this helps you, but it is what I was told.
I completed the Harvoni treatment but in the first month of taking it I was hospitalized for pancreatitis which was a side affect from the drug. Now my vision is blurred and my liver enzymes were higher so an immediate MRI was scheduled with and without contrast to check my binary tree or something. I have constant pain in my liver but they try and tell me I have no pain because the liver has no pain. Whatever! I hurt on my right side for years and kept asking why was I hurting because I'd went through breast cancer, complete hysterectomy, gallbladder took out and still no relief!!! I was told 2 yrs later I had hep c and have had it over 30 yrs. I recived a blood transfusion in the 80a when I lost a baby. No one ever reached out to me to let me know I could have gotten hep c from contaminated blood. I'm at stage 4 liver disease and I never feel good! Wish you the best! Pretty sure we are the guinea pig for data collection and to be in medical books in the future!

Jj, I have the same hip pain, going in 6 months post treatment as well as a slew of other problems, about 30.different side effects truth be told. Harvoni ruined my life. I cant even go through all of them individually anymore because they all have such a negative impact on a life that was once bearable,,, now,,, not even close... I use the VA as my primary medical care but if I had my choice to make all over again, I would run, run fast,,, of course that was when I could walk,,, this has been a killer drug in every way I can think of, I also believe it will be the death of me as well,,, I am a shell of what I was, not even a shell,,, maybe a half of an egg shell... Good luck, I will keep you in my prayers as well,,, take care
I have joint pain in hip sometime can't hardly get out of bed .Been taking harvoni since December 9th got til February 9th be glad when it's over. Is anyone having same problem? Please share.
Agree, I too am Hep C free, since taking Harvoni, developed health issues, severe joint pain in my fingers, I do have osteoarthritis, never had this much pain before taking the med. Now have Hypothyroid on Synthroid for that I was diagnosed years ago with Scleraderma An Autoimmune disease should have done more research on Harvoni before taking it.
hey Vicki, I too did thevPeg/Interferon back in 2008, I was on it for four months but I'd lost way too much weight & was really sick & ended up in hospital for a week? the hepatology Dr pulled me off it, preferring to give the liver a rest & let me gain some weight again? earlier this year I saw the same specialist again & he put me on Harvoni & 6 months later I am hep c free, til I have my bloods done in January? I now have cirrhosis & markers for Hepato Cellular Carcinoma, thus far they don't seem too fazed about it, only chemotherapy & radio frequency therapy seem to be out of thevpicture for me? too much damage already from abuse, cirrhosis progression, bad lifestyle choices in the past! oh well something will come up? I hope? most people I know that have done it have been fairly trouble free post treatment! I had some back pain (for many years now) & some leg discomfort! some nausea for the last 6 week's of treatment, this seems to recur almost daily as the day progresses! I'm glad the hep c is gone? the nausea should pass at some point? Its worth Irvin the long run, as it's one less thing to be worried about if successful! my doctor explained it in a way that made good sense? good luck to anyone beginning treatment or pondering it?
First, have you had the RNA test? Are you clear? That would be one good sign. My experience from being on 5 of these boards is that if you get hit hard with side effects, first we are the minority, most don't. If you get hit hard it will either be very slow recovering from the side effects, or some not at all. I finished treatment almost 18 months ago and some of my problems have not improved, and there are a couple in my other group that finished treatment longer ago than I. Most people end up getting treated by our primary docs for the problems - GI's tend to turn you loose after treatment.
Yes i have all of that. I have diabetes, bad back an chest pain, and i take 10mg of pecs, qid, with Valium, and high blood pressure. I am finding it harder to get out of bed and i just wondered if anyone feels better after this high dollars treatment?
James, the "cure" can be worse than the illness. You have a very big decision to make. Many of us wish we had never taken Harvoni. We were healthy before Harvoni and now miserable, although Hep C free. It can be even more devastating being not so healthy before and end up less healthy. Keep in mind the doctors do not really know about this medicine either. Do your homework and best wishes on your decision.
James, you sound like you only have the normal, listed side effects. The ones that most of us have (including me) you would not be going to work. Ringing in your ears so that you are always asking what did you say? Pain in one or both legs that narcotic pain killers barely touch, racing heart and pain in chest and left arm so you think you are having a heart attack. While some side effects with some people develop after finishing Harvoni, most start while on it. I am really against Gilead not coming forth with all the side effects, you sound like you just have the lighter side effects. HepC is bad enough that if you think you can finish your treatment, please try. If they get worse, make your decision then.
high, i just started taking this med,i am on day 27 , i am 59 years old, i keep reading how bad this med is ,i am weak, and tired ,lazy, single with no support other than doc, yes, and i got to work, has anyone feel better after this treatment?, what gives us another ten years? , hpc c, can get really bad, i have a friend that had to do it old way V.vet, he thinks he feels better, i do not, my side hurts like, but i have alot of other health problems also, yea i am depressed, but after reading all these bad reviews , i what to stop, well i just was reading ,thanks for your time
I had nerve problems in my legs. Some mornings I woke up and stand and my legs would lose strength and I would grab hold of something to keep from falling. I had serious memory problems. It took 16 months from the first day I took a pill for the medicine to exit and leave my body. I couldn't get enough rest while being affected by the medicine and I couldn't even remember what day it was. I went to bed one night knowing it was Saturday woke up the next morning thinking it was Monday. My body and my mind wouldn't wake up in the mornings. Some mornings I couldn't even go to work. I was asleep half the day. I couldn't even wake up. I was let go from my job (that I loved very much) of 7 years! I'm 55 yrs of age, built a career for myself and now I can hardly even get a job. I'm working with the North Carolina foreclosure prevention foundation to try to save my house, they're trying to foreclose on it I'm so far behind. I need help. Does anyone know someone who can help me with this?
