I have ten suboxones. I have been taking oxycontin for pain but want to try at home to w/d. I can't discuss this with my doctor as it will affect my insurance. This is a fact..in my case... Can someone on here tell me how to take my subs? I would appreciate any answers and no lectures. How many do I need to withdraw..Thanks so much.

Hi, Im needing some help and support. I'm 21 and I've been addicted to Norcos for 2 years, taking them every day. I was taking 10 a day, then was able to lower myself to 5 a day about a month before I detoxed. I flushed all my pills a little over a week ago an was given suboxone by a friend, to help me withdraw. I have no health insurance and each sub doctor I called was either way too expensive or they had no openings for new patients. So I took a quarter of suboxone, the orange pill, after 15 hours of withdrawal. Sub helped that day and the next day, but after that it had no effect on me and I'm wondering why? My friend who's been on it for months under a doctor's care, said its supposed to give u a little buzz and help with your cravings. But it hasn't worked for me that way, maybe I need to take more? I stopped taking it and I've been cold turkey for almost a week. I'm feeling so depressed and losing my will, Im almost at the point to start using again. Can someone please tell me when to take this suboxone or how it's supposed to be taken? I'm so frustrated and just want to stop my intense cravings, I don't want to start using again! I want to stay clean.

**Also, what is the difference between sub & methadone? Which one is right for me? Although I'd rather stick with the suboxone I have so as not to spend more money.

It all depends on what Suboxone you have, but if you know which one you have you can figure it out. 2mg will kill withdrawl for even the most severe addict and you will only ned to take a dose every 1.5-3 days. depends on how small of a dose you take compared to how high your tolerance is. I hurt bad after 4 hours, after 8 hours I can't function. I physically can't even go to the bathroom on my own. I shoot 6-12, 4mg dilaudid, 120mg of morphine sulphate and eat 100 mg (10pills) percocet in between shots or at work. So I figured I needed a pretty large dose of subs to get by but 2mg works for me, the first dose I took was 4mg, then every 1.5 days I take 2mg from now till I feel comfortable that i wont withdraw.

thank u , spice06 , I really needed to hear that remark about not beating ourself up and we do make mistakes. I have been struggling with addiction for 15 years, and have tried everything, rehabs, NA, AA, detox, medication, just to mention a few, but you are right addiction is a disease that needs to be treated everyday. What works for someone might not work for someone else. I just relapsed for the 100th time, and I just dont know anymore. I just accept that Iam an addict and never give up on myself

I am so wanting off Suboxone, I was on methodone for about one year and before that vicodin, the doctor just kept increasing the dose, then I ran out and the doctor went on vacation, interesting, anyway, I have been purchasing subs on the street, I am 58 and I have tried to wean my self off 3 diff times with no luck, do you have any suggestions?

u can def do that with 10 8mg subs
1st 3days are bad for me but each day gets better by day 3 im almost out of the dark not sure how much opiates u were doing the amount u were takin plays a big factor on dosage decisions my d0c was roxy30mg 10a day sometimes more.the way i do it 1st day take 8mg in am 8mg pm
2nd day 8mg am 4mg pm by day 3 u will be feeling good because the suboxones are finally built up in ur sytem u should be able to take 4mg am 4mg pm dibr guve uo on day 3 because u are gonna feel perfect no withdrawl its weird but continue tapering lower until ur done u can play with ur dosages some ppl take subs on day 1 and feel perfect wish i was one of those but im not lucky any questions hit me up ps the 1st 3 days are worst after u get passed there u pretty much out the woods but if ur feeling crappy take more the 1st 3days after the u just have to ration out the rest which wont be to bad because suboxone last 3days in ur body as for me 1st day just sux wish i could just sleep ot off

I think you will need a little more time than 1 week to do this!8 or 10 subs is not going to do the trick,you need to build the suboxone in your system and get stable first and then taper down.Been through this a lot takes more than a few subs ans a week off work!!!!

I have almost the same exact daily dose as u and i am tired of doing this everyday but very scared.. jus had 3 back surgeries an was perscribed to take 6 oxycodone 15's an 2 oxycontin 80's a day not to mention i suffer from anxiety so i take xanax to wow... i have had back problems for the last ten years an anxiety for 15 years but these pills have taken control of my life thats all i wake up for i the morning and i have kids that need there mom back so i have a sitter an some suboxine never tried them before i need some advice on how to take them i am gonna stay on the xanax only take 1mg a day so i think i am ok on that but the opiates i am so done cuz its too the point now for the last four years thatmy perscriptions dont even last me two weeks so i am ready to quit any advice would be greatly appreciated

U will go in2 rapid detox if u have take that N8 while u have methadone on ur receptors !!!! (read #77: Sub expert, which is my post). Good luck! Prayer helps!

Here's some really good information from a former addict.. I would go out and buy 10 subs on the street if you go to the doctor they're just going to over due it and then your going to have a new addiction to subs.. The trick is your not trying to get messed up off them just trying to keep your mind off opiates. I did one the first day in the morning and a half at night. Then each day after that you slowly ween yourself off I was doing 3-4 Oxys a day for 3 years and after 7 days of subs I was able to completely stop withdrawal free. I keep two at my house just in case I ever get any temptation and it completely changes my mind. I hope this helps:) I deffientely am a lot happier and healthier and I thought I would never be able to stop because I was "in pain" but in all actuality it was the Oxys that were making me in pain. OK SO I MISSED MY METHADONE TODAY but my friend gave me a N8 ORANGE PILL AND TOLD ME IF I TOOK IT I WONT FEEL SICK SINCE I DIDNT TAKE MY METHEDONE TODAY, BUT THEN MY OTHER FRIEND TOLD ME IF I TAKE IT N I DONT FEEL SICK IT WILL PUT ME ON INSTANT WITHDRAWS AND I AM SCARED SO HOW SHOULD I TAKE IT ?

You HAVE TO wait till u feel the w/d symptoms first! Otherwise u WILL go into RAPID DETOX. Suboxone shakes all the opiates off your receptors, similar to a apple tree; the branches,(your receptors) with dangling apples, (the opiates) being blown by 200 mile winds, (Suboxone) would shake the apples off the branches... This will only happen if u don't wait for ur w/d symptoms to start.
Which means if u use (opiates) then try to take a Sub without waiting til u feel w/d symptoms then u'll go from feeling fine then w/in -30min u will feel like DYING! U'll be hot, then cold, then u'll want to shower from all the sweat, then jump out hotter then when u got into the shower, u'll want to rip ur hair out, then u'll tell try to tell ur mind to calm down, BUT NOTHING seems to help. U go from no w/d symptoms- all the way to feeling like it's the 3rd day of w/d (which the 3rd day is the worst) in a matter of minutes. PLEASE take my advice & wait til u feel the w/d symptoms... Then only take a 1/4 or less crushed up under ur tounge. Then only take it for up to 4 days & be done with the addiction problem w/ no w/d's ( except the day or day 1/2 of w/ds b4 ur 1st sub) Google how long to wait b4 taking a suboxone. There's a chart for all different drugs (oxy, pec's, vic's, methadone, ect..) & how long to wait.
I really hope my experience & advice helps someone.

Kimber, you cant take anything before you take a sub otherwise you will be REALLY SICK! my method of getting off my pills(roxys blue 30s) is take my last pill at 7 to 8pm and sleep as much as possible then wait about 15-18 hours to take the sub. but i sniff mine (pills) and they are Instant release so they last only a few hours in my system. Dont take any opiates prior to taking subs or you will find out the hard way

I have been going through wd from heroin for 5 days i took a half of a Norco 10 about a hour and a half ago, im still feeling awful. I have a suboxcin can i go ahead and take a piece of it without it putting me into worse withdraw? Please someone answer me quickly for i'm about to go ahead and take a piece of the sub.

Make sure your well into your wd, wait at least 12 hrs. since your last dose of oxy. It doesn,t take much to be affective. Sit down, place under tounge, close mouth, tilt head forward, this helps to not swallow. Sit quietly for 5 mins. Spit or swallow. Do not drink, eat or smoke for another 5 mins. These are instrs. sub. dr. gave me. You could try 2-4 mgs. like I said, it don,t take much. Take at same time each day. If you felt allright on lets say 4mg. in a couple days try 3 and taper down. I,M NOT A DR. and you really should be under a drs. care when going through this. Sorry, I had to say that. Good luck.

Sometimes it can be a little complicated because people who are on subs like myself don't realize that they are addicted to it but not like extreme as pills and dope. I was doing dope for years so I'll tell you what I did. It can go either way, start off with a quarter or a half but honestly I would if I was you just try to take a little but at a time because your using a a sub as a crutch so you don't want to get addicted to them...id say like maybe 2 weeks, everyone is diff but once your done withdrawing from the pills n your out of subs it won't be that bad. I've been on subs for 2 years n the only reason I take it still is because in the morning I need that boost like energy n when I go as long as I can from not taking anything my back will hurt a little bit but it's really nothing. You just need to find what is comfortable for you n see what happens. Good luck
