Generic Norco M367 10/325 (Page 24) (Top voted first)

Updated

It's no good. I have to take three at a time for 1 hour of pain relief. Anybody else have this problem with M367 - 10/325? Has anyone else noticed that meds from certain manufacturers do not work as well for them?

Yes damn it, everyone does! That's why everyone complains about it on here!

There is Medicare Rights Center and they help people to get what they need. You can google it. A good family doctor can write a note saying that a wheel chair or any device is needed and that works well. I had trouble getting the diabetic test strips that I needed. With Type 2 they insisted they would not pay for anything over one test a day. My doctor got them to approve four a day but now I am so well controlled I can now test twice. My doctor has always helped me. Most physicians in my state charge $125.00 for an office visit.

I did try pain management and I found out they want to make money on epidurals and therapy so I quit. I never dreamed my own family doctor would agree so quickly to fill my prescriptions. He has been wonderful. He sees my mri's and x rays and he acts so kindly not at all like the SOB pain management doctor who has is cold and uncaring. He has so many angry old patients on Yelp I doubt he will get any new patients. I did see a very nice ortho Dr who gave me an inj. in my knee and I did not need pain pills. That shot did help a lot.

I hope you all find a compassionate doctor. Ask friends and neighbors and maybe someone can advise you.

She works for CVS and Corporate makes all decisions as to what generic brand they carry. Unfortunately, the cheaper they are, the more profit for CVS, Walgreens, etc. They carry the cheap white ones too. I will ask her if they order special requests for good customers that they know are having a lot of pain issues. She says one pharmacist there turns away a lot of people that are seriously in pain. My daughter seems to give them the benefit of the doubt. She says they loose good customers that way when the Pharmacist wants to play pain pill police a little too much. Some of it is their job and their license is riding on it, but some of the Pharmacists take it way too far. Anyway I will ask her and post back with an answer.

iIf it is after peak hours later at night, all they have is the one lone pharmacist at most CVS stores, not even a tech to help. They have cut back so much that where my daughter works fills around 500+ prescriptions daily, but you need 650+ to warrant another pharmacist. So they are just on the edge and it keeps them crazy busy, they do get up to 4 techs per peak hour shift, but some are new and not very helpful. I don't think it is that they hate their jobs so much, it is corporate putting so much on them and they have to be careful because if they make a mistake and kill someone, their careers are over!

Sandy,

The pharmacies I have been to do not have Qualitest. It is all Activis. I asked if they have any other brand and they said no. I have tried three pharmacies and no one carries the good brand. Then too I have heard they are not stocking as much of Norco because too few doctors are prescribing it.

Watson Brand is dispensed by Walgreens as their generic. You may have to check locally bcuz I am not sure if all Walgreens nationwide are the same.

And it also depends on which brand the provider gives them on any given week. Just because they have one brand one week doesn't mean they will have the same brand in their next shipment. It is all about $$$.

I called around to different pharmacies to see which one carried the Watson brand norco and Walgreens was the one. So I took my script there to have it filled and the second time I went back the pharmacist and she lied. First of all, said she tried to call me - never once a phone call from the pharmacy. When I get there she hands me my script and says I'm not filling it, I am not comfortable. That was it end of discussion. Come to find out she told my doctor I had drug seeking behavior because I used a pharmacy 8 miles from my house.

Doctors know that Norco is stronger than codeine. My own doctor admitted that to me. There has been so much paranoia and now with Lamar Odom having OD everyone with pain will suffer. They even had another program on TV about drug addiction. It seems THE topic of drug abuse is on almost every day. They seem to forget about the other drugs and alcohol the people took with the controlled substance.

I have been taking hydrocodone since 1996 due to a car wreck and I admit they are like glorified aspirin to me but I can tell if they are working or not, especially when they don't. I can't afford the surgery (over 300k) and the odds of not walking again (70%) and the fact I will probably still need pain medicine basically have me needing these the rest of life. My Dr. had to switch me from 10/500 Lortab to the Norco 10/325 about a year ago and downed the dosage from 5 to 3 pills a day due to the government getting strict on these. I can barely function. When Walgreens was out of the generic Norco I usually get(are white but not M367's) I couldn't wait 3-4 days so I went to the local Wal-Mart and was given the M367. I will never go back believe me. Normal hydrocodone pills give me a little energy (helps to actually want to do anything other than lie around in pain) as well as subside the pain to a tolerable 2 from a unbearable 7-8 out of 10. The M367 to me do nothing, no energy, very little pain relief. I actually thought Wal-Mart gave me ibuprofen or just acetaminophen pills which is why I looked up the number on the pills and found this site. I just took one of them 30min ago and has done nothing but make me thirsty. I have just taken a headache powder now and doused my back with roll-on icy hot to try and get some relief. It is going to be a long wait until next month when go back to the Dr. I learned that waiting that 3-4 days in severe pain would have been worth it because now I have a month to go with mediocre (at best) meds.

My dosage is also three a day or 90 a month. However my doctor prescribes Soma three times a day for spinal pain and spasms. I have had a long term relationship with my physician, so that helps. According to my insurance legally I can be prescribed 12 a day. Doctors are afraid to do that. They get checked out by the DEA. . Pharmacists are getting into the act now too. I am fortunate my pharmacist knows my family and all of our records are there and they respect my family doctor. I always get my 90 pills at Walgreen's. CVS was nasty to me.

I did have a horrible experience with a so called pain management Dr. He did epidurals and therapy and that made me suffer more. I decided to quit him and he was livid. He loved the money he was getting. That was a try for me to get pain relief and it failed miserably..

My insurance co. requires now that all ongoing prescriptions be done through a mail order pharmacy. Cheaper and better service. My local pharmacy decided one day last year to stop filling my pain meds, saying they were not making enough money. It was total bull! I wrote an op-ed about the pharmacy, along with other op-eds of that same publication. It is amazing the only game in town (yes, we only have one pharmacy) can be so ruthless and uncaring about their customers. This whole thing has gotten way out of control (again, government controlling one more aspect of our lives). If you have a good doctor and pharmacy, stick with them. They will be your life-savers.

I was 56 at the time I applied, and even had a written guideline from a former SSDI attorney on how to fill it out. I think it also depends on what state you live in. I am in CA. It is a frustrating process, and one, along with the VA, that needs to be re-vamped. As far as the epidurals, my husband had an ambulatory surgery center as the location for his lower spine epidural. He was in there a total of 10 minutes, and the facility charged him $10,000 for their services. I was floored. It seems that they (the surg center) are not "members" of any insurance carrier. I wish I had done my homework before he went there, but it turns out that if they don't belong to a specific insurance carrier, they can bill and will be paid the amount of their billing, no questions asked. I went round and round with them, with the insurance company and the medical board. It got me nowhere. Phew...now I have vented...

Sandy I am also in CA. I have learned the hard way to call and ask if a treatment is covered even before getting on Medicare.

Blue Cross a PPO denied a procedure for cancer that they had agreed to and then they changed their mind six months later.

I was given the prescription for the epidural by a pain orthopedist/ pain doctor. It was a waste of time and the side effects were awful.
I do think we are paying too much for our insurance and the quality of physicians is awful. I had years of time wasted trying to find a good doctor.

JoAnn, it's a shame that is allowed. My drug store told me they didn't carry name brand norco. I would rather spend more money to get the real thing. Ask your daughter how one goes about ordering the brand names and not generics.

If they are new (the older they get the worse they are) it is the same make up of active ingredients. The fillers go right through your system. ALL in your head. Also pay attention to when you take them, alot of factors can change the efficacy. Best way to test is take one right when you get up with totally empty stomach. Then do the same with your brand of choice, you will see, same effectiveness.
