UpdatedHad a bad migraine and took Fioricet about 1.5 hours ago. Meeting friend for drinks - can I drink? ## It may cause you to experience more side effects than usual, which the FDA lists as possibly including nausea, dizziness, drowsiness and dry mouth. If your doctor approves of your imbibing, it would be best to make sure that you aren't going to be driving or operating any possibly dangerous machinery. Is there anything else I can help with?
1 REPLY UpdatedHow long does Fioricet remain in your system before being excreted? ## Hello, Sandra! How are you? Approximately 175 to 210 hours, which would be anywhere from 7 to 9 days. It is the Butalbital that cause it to take so long. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, stomach irritation and insomnia. Is there anything else I can help with?
1 REPLY UpdatedI'm am 23 years old and never have I ever been in this much pain before its starts from my middle eardrum spreading a burning sensation around my right jaw and inside my gum line. Then it quickly makes it way to the right side of my temple with an unbearable headache. It last up to 2-12 hours sometimes all day more then 7 days a week. When I finally fall asleep I get woke up from the awful pain every night at 3-4 am at the same time crying for help. The first step I made was going to the ER and there they procribed me DIAZEPAM 5mg tablet and after trying that (1) tablet it felt as if I had tookin nothing at all.later I pop 3 sorry to say but the pain in my head was unbearable, and still I felt nothing . I went back to the ER 2 days prior to my last visit and returned the meds statin...
3 REPLIES Updatedheadaches every day, worse at night, last severly30 min, sometimes three times in one night,on one side of face, temple and jaw and brow bone, excrusating pain ## Have you found out what's causing them? They sound pretty debilitating, I'm very sorry. Do you take any other medications? Do you have any other medical conditions? Learn more Fioricet details here. ## My friend it sounds like you are suffering from migraines or cluster headaches you need to see a headache specialist or neurologist to be formally diagnosed and MRI's and CT Scans don't help to diagnose these but do help to rule out other things like aneurysms. Now I am not a doctor but a migraine sufferer for the past 16 years and have been "recently" diagnosed in 2005 after spending weeks in the hospita...
14 REPLIES UpdatedI have had migraines since a wreck when I went through the window of my car and got a Traumatic Brain Injury. The last 5 years they have gotten worse. So bad that I rarely have a good day. I spent two years getting into a dr in Texas where I lived and was given limited amounts of Norco or Lortab. I had to move to Louisiana where in the last two years I have spent getting into see a Neurologist. After seeing him all he prescribes is Fioricet which is not helping. I had a migraine 5 days the week of Christmas. I spoke with him about this last week (when I was having a migraine in his office and crying in pain) and he would not help me. Death has to be easier than living like this. The thing is this....Anything you take overtime your body will become addicted to. I don't know what to d...
3 REPLIES UpdatedHi. I've been taking Fioricet for years, from the name brand to the generics. The name brand was effective, the generic less so, but no real complaints until last week. My Pharmacist, unable to locate the generic I'd been taking for the last several years, was only able to find the MIA 110 generic caplet. Though it's supposedly made up of the same ingredients, it feels like an entirely new formulation. Is this just a case of my body needing time to adjust to it or has anyone been on this new generic only to find it ineffective? ## Hello, Jesse! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. Results with this generic have been mixed, according to various other people who've posted on the site. Some have had good results with it, but some haven't,...
2 REPLIES UpdatedHello I am looking where to find name brand Fioricet, the generic does not WORK at all and fact increases my headaches and make feel terrible! My CVS pharmacy states haven't seen name brand Fioricet in a long time. I live in Lexington Ky. They say they keep reformulating the generic. Took out more acetaminophen, then put it back etc etc. What happened to the go old blue tablets with the head on one side. Those WORKED! Thank you ## Hello, CL! How are you? I am very sorry about the problem that you're having. However, at this time, the name brand is not available and there is no word if it will become available, again, or not. Have you consulted your doctor about the issue? You may need to try a different medication, if the generics aren't working for you. Side effects to this...
4 REPLIES UpdatedIs the fioricet with Mia 110 on one side a narcotic drug with codine ## Hello, Keith! How are you? No, you have listed the correct ingredients. 325mgs of Acetaminophen, 50mgs of Butalbital and 40mgs of Caffeine, as reported by the manufacturer Mikart Inc. This medication is most commonly used to treat migraines and its typical side effects, as reported by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, stomach irritation and insomnia. Is there anything else I can help with?
1 REPLY UpdatedThe price in Missouri has doubled and it is not covered by ANY medicare D plan anyone know why the price is so damn high when there is a generid? ## Unfortunately, I have no answer for you. The price is always going to vary from pharmacy to pharmacy and from area to area, whether a medication is name brand or generic. What price where you charged for it? Did you try checking with different pharmacies? ## I live in California and I purchase my Butalbital with codeine at Costco. Without insurance 120 pills are only $40.00 and most of the other pharmacys are going to charge you up to $270.00 for the same generic brand. How crazy is that. ## I live in Lake Odessa, Michigan and am rather disturbed that the drug price on Fioricet has gone from a cash price of $42.41 for 180 tablets to $88.00 ...
6 REPLIES UpdatedI started last week with a nasty tension head/neck ache. I had some OLD fioricet (From 2012!) that I gave in and took yesterday. One tab did nothing, so took 2 and another a few hours later. Now today I'm still feeling crappy! I am just worried about rebound headaches. How long could I take this safely without running into problems? I'm trying my hardest not to take it, headaches just got so bad :( ## Hello, Wendi! How are you? I'm sorry about the headaches. Unfortunately, there is no definitive answer that I can give you, because it can always vary from person to person. Some people can take this medication, as needed, for a very long time and never get rebound headaches, while others may experience them frequently. The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication ...
1 REPLY UpdatedI was on Hydrocone for my migraine/tension headaches for 3 years my dr decided to stop prescribing pain meds to her patients. Now I'm at a loss NJ Is really cracking down. My new GP referred me to a neorologist and I was thinking about asking him about Fiorcet not Hydrocone but how do I ask without sounding like a addict? ## Hello, Lola! How are you? Fioricet contains a barbiturate, not a narcotic. It contains Butalbital, Acetaminophen and Caffeine. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, insomnia and nervousness. There should be no reason to worry about sounding like an addict. Just be honest about how bad they are and don't try to demand that he prescribed something. Is there anything else I can help with?
1 REPLY UpdatedI couldn't understand why the brand name fioricet, which always worked in the past, was not working today. I did some research and discovered that the previous manufacturer was Watson Pharmaceutical who were bought out by Actavis Pharmaceutical. I called the FDA to leave a msg asking if the formulation Actavis sells as the brand name is identical to the one by Watson. When I get a reply, I will post. This happened once before with one of my mother's Parkinson's meds. I learned, when the new company manufactured it, the 'active" ingredients remained the same but there was a slight difference in the inactive ingredients. In my mind that should make it a generic, but was not the case. If you have concerns/complaints, I would suggest going on the FDA website and call or ...
UpdatedHello. I had been taking fiorcet codeine ( for over a year. Recently, one of my primary care doctors told me to stop taking it because it is not meant for long-term use. Moreover, I informed him that my blood pressure readings were elevated. I stopped taking f.codeine...took my last pill on Tuesday, March 18th. I was taking 1-3 pills a day depending on my migraine/headache levels. My first day off of it (Wednesday night) was terrible...rebound headache, nausea, diarrhea and minor vomiting. The next day was about the same...last night I had a headache/migraine on left temporal/optic (with sore lower back) and still had the headache this morning. I felt crappy this morning through most of the day...felt like I had the flu...feverish, headache/migraine. I see my primary care doctor again o...
3 REPLIES Updatedthe only things different is:that plain bupap has no caffeine and twice the tylenol per pill than generic fioricet:Butalbital ## Hi, Mary! Sorry about the problem you're having with migraines. It could be that it's the caffeine that's helping your migraines. It does work for alleviating headaches for many people and people that frequently indulge in caffeine often find themselves getting headaches if they suddenly stop, or lower their intake. Learn more Caffeine details here. I frequently found that when I had a headache that nothing else would touch, the Excedrin products with caffeine often alleviated it. Do you drink coffee or tea regularly? ## Should I be concerned now that im taking the blue generic fioricet instead of the white generic. Im nervous about the change. The...
3 REPLIES UpdatedI take esgic plus which has the same ingredients as fioricet, but my pharmacy tells me they are going to stop making them or come up with a new formula, do you have any info on that? I have very bad vascular headaches and if its not soon then I'm in for some painful headaches, nothing else works except prescription stadol nasal spray, but it makes me very sick...:( ## Hello, Sam! How are you? Yes, that is correct, medications that contain Butalbital are being discontinued, at this time. Whether or not this may change at a later date, I don't know. Have you discussed the issue with your doctor? They may be able to write you a special prescription that you can have done at a compounding pharmacy, so you may want to ask them about it. ## I currently take Fioricet which contains bul...

The FDA lists it as containing Acetaminophen, Butalbital and Caffeine, so yes, the Butalbita...
1 REPLY Updatedhelping at all new fioricet capsules not working like old tablets I used them for fibromyalgia for years what did theydo to them?pkp ## I'm sorry, but I don't have an answer for you. They are claimed to be the same, with the same dosages of the active ingredients. However, many people have posted similar complaints. The best suggestion I can make is to contact your doctor and ask about using an alternative medication. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I just took my first fiorcet capsule since the cange over from tablets. They only difference in it the capsule and 25 less mg's of acetimetaphen. So far it's worked fine on busting my tension headache. My suggestion is take a small amout of tylanol along with it. Hope this helps.
2 REPLIES UpdatedDoes this have codeine in it? I'm allergic to it. ## Hello, Daniel! How are you? No, Fioricet contains Acetaminophen, Butalbital and Caffeine. 1 REPLY UpdatedMy generic Fioricet, BUTAL/ APAP/CAFF 50/325/40 is not covered by my Medicare Part B. A couple of months ago it SKYROCKETED from a $25-35 for 100 to over $70!!! Pharmacist said they raised price "because they could"!!! My Social Security is so low ( and my ONLY source of income), that increase devastates my monthly budget! Dr.s have tried other meds over the last 30 yrs., however, NONE have worked as well as this. I suffer from chronic migraines & this usually gets rid of it but also treats the pain if headache breaks thru anyway. Please, can anyone help? ## Hello, Anne! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having. Have you tried any of the prescription drug discount cards? There is a link to one that can be found towards the right on most pages ...
