Substitute For Fioricet

My generic Fioricet, BUTAL/ APAP/CAFF 50/325/40 is not covered by my Medicare Part B. A couple of months ago it SKYROCKETED from a $25-35 for 100 to over $70!!! Pharmacist said they raised price "because they could"!!! My Social Security is so low ( and my ONLY source of income), that increase devastates my monthly budget! Dr.s have tried other meds over the last 30 yrs., however, NONE have worked as well as this. I suffer from chronic migraines & this usually gets rid of it but also treats the pain if headache breaks thru anyway. Please, can anyone help?

Hello, Anne! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problem that you're having.

Have you tried any of the prescription drug discount cards? There is a link to one that can be found towards the right on most pages of this site. It is free, you just signup with your email address, print the card and then take it to your pharmacy. I don't know what all it covers or how much of a discount it provides, but it won't hurt to find out.

Does anyone else have any suggestions?

The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, stomach pain and somnolence.
