Rick Scott may be a Republican but he originally objected to all this computer monitoring BS. While he did cave, just about any governor would've done the same with all the pressure from outside sources. Fact is, the DEA is most responsible for this mess and they are a federal bureaucracy under the Executive Branch.

This is a bipartisan attack as I've seen as many Dem representatives demogoging the issue. And the other poster is right about Obamacare; with the skyrocketing costs it will take to run this program, cheap and affordable narcotics aren't going to be a part of the equation for much longer. Look at those who are already paying more and/or losing coverage under the Federal Government's programs.

You can also thank the liberal media that has made this a focal point for several years now, ignoring other facts, especially the decline of abuse and diversion in Florida. On the contrary, they still continue to quote 2009-2010 figures for Florida when they are well aware this problem has been cut substantially since these new policies. There's plenty of blame on both sides.

Publix will Fill in Lee County Florida, however they receive the Oxycodone on Fridays and Wednesdays and run out within a Matter of hours. They also just get a Small Quantity and not always the Full Order. My regular Pharmacist at Publix told me this information and advised that I be there early on Wed or Friday as it is First Come First Serve. I hope this helps some of those with chronic pain that have been dealing with Walgreens "I don't feel comfortable filling this" I was so frustrated and the fact they don't go into any more detail also made me even more upset, all this as I traveled from Pharmacy to Pharmacy. Lee County Florida is closely behind Tampa as far as "Pill Mill City" so please lets ban together "Class Action Lawsuit" against Walgreens, CVS and the Other Pharmacies that feel the need to Discriminate against chronic pain patients. My Heart especially goes out to those who must travel from pharmacy to pharmacy that are wheelchair bond and take major time just to get in and out of the Vehicle. Please Keep the Faith and lets pursue Justice!

Hi Donna, I have not read any further once I saw byour post ...so I don't know what the latest is... but we certainly need Advocates to help Chronic Pain patients who are being left without pain medications, all because the DA is cracking down on drug addicts ! There has been an INCREASE in Suicide amongst Chronic pain patients due to the unbelievable and unbearable efforts they have to go through each and every month just to fill RX's that are legitimate and much needed in order to lessen their pain just to bend over to put their socks and shoes on! And alot of Pain riddled people live completely alone...and their pain medication is the ONLY thing that makes it possible to get it up out of bed to walk to the Bathroom or Kitchen for Basic Needs.

2 privately owned pharmacy's in hollywood won"t fill rx if you have ins. When I reported poste hate pharm to medicare their response was they were out of generic. bs I changed to towne drgs who said they got very few from the drug co. but the man in front of me paid about 1200 dollars cash and filled his rx. they first advised me to have my dr write for something else and when I called to seeif they would now fill the ms contin I got the same bs.\I have much history and documentation re my pain. its all about the money.Actually when I spoke to the owner of ph pharm, because they had been filling my rx for some time, he said what would you do in my position. medicare should not be allowing them to only fill rx they consider cost effective. when i was in the medical feild if you accepted medicare you accepted there pay and you could not discriminate on what or who you could treat. I feel the pharmacy should not beable discriminate either and thatis what they r doing. what makes them different then the street dealers. the street dealers don't take medicare either.

Hi Donna - I am 51 years old, suffering with psoriactic arthritis and pustular psoriasis. I am a mother of two young children and need my pain medicine to properly have a functioning quality of life. I cannot take the life threating alternative medicines such as biologics. I have been emotionally tormented by pharmacists as they treat me as if I am a drug addict. I am at the point of hiring an attorney. Please keep me posted on your efforts and I thank you for them. If there is not a class action law suit in progress there should be.

the problem with a class action lawsuit is who are you going to try to sue. the drug makers, the distributors, or the pharmacists. they cant pin this on one particular pharmacy...its everywhere and pharmacists have the right to say no to anyone they wish to regardless of the situation. ive been doing and going through the same thing along with thousands of others doing the same as me..suffering.
best option is to try to get mail order. i have insurance but it doesnt cover mail order unfortunately.
my buddy is still getting his roxicodone 30mg and 15mg pills by mallinkroft.(actavis was the brand almost everyone in florida were getting until this summer)
i have seen some doctors writing the script now that some months have passed on so this is somewhat encouraging news. with as many problems as i have, i will have no trouble getting back to roxies in the future once my settlement happens and i can afford better insurance and be able to move to a larger county with more than 2 doctors in this area. they switched everyone to either ms contin, oxycontin, methadone, or percocet. these doctors here got together and just arent writing them at least here. i cant goto my buddies dr since hes not taking new patients. its a horrible situation and just hope it will get fixed asap. but my friend who actually is less disabled than me but he gets his roxies mail order 3 months at a time and he just renewed the rx and got it in the mail. so they are filling mail orders if you have a willing doctor to help you. the main problem now is not only are the pharmacies not filling the roxies but not even filling percocet or anythin even if they know you. this really sux and i wish a lawyer would take it up but then who do you sue...im sure if it were an open shut type thing, there would have been a attorney who would have already taken this up.

I say it's the DEA we "sue." It doesn't have to be about money. We need to insist on procedures and policies that do not cause harm to legitimate pain management patients. It's the DEA paralyzing the manufacturers, distributors, and pharmacies. That is the bottom the line, and the target. Perhaps it's more a policy battle, but I am sure we can start at the legislature with a savvy lawyer.

I WAS TOLD LAST MONTH THEY HAVE NEW POLICES, THAT THEY CAN NOT FILL FOR ME ANY LONGER, BECAUSE MY DOCTOR IS A CASH ONLY DOCTOR & DOES NOT TAKE MY INSURANCE, WHICH IS MEDICARE, I ALSO HAVE MEDICADE, I'VE BEEN GOING TO THE SAME WALGREENS FOR OVER THREE YEARS,HAVE A GREAT RELATIONSHIP WITH MANY OF THE PHARMISTS, I CALLED CORPERATE & THEY SAID THEY DID NOT KNOW OF THIS POLICY, THAT WAS ABOUT 2 1/2 WEEKS AGO WHEN I CALLED, & IT WAS TOTALLY UP TO THE DISCRETION OF THE PHARMIST, & THAT THEY STAND BEHIND THERE PHARMISTS 100%, WTF??, IF IT'S OK WITH MEDICARE , WHICH IT IS BECAUSE I CALLED THEM TO, THEY SAID IT SHOULD NOT MATTER IF YOUR DOCTOR IS A CASH DOCTOR OR NOT, THEN WHY CAN'T THEY FILL OUR SCRIPTS, A BUNCH OF BS!!!

I'm having a terrible time going through withdrawals from Cymbalta samples my doctor gave me. Even though the blood is clear of the drug, it is stored in the fatty tissues of the brain, and that is what is causing my continual withdrawal process.

The reason for the samples is the refusals of Sarasota pharmacies to fill the same scripts I have been on for SEVEN YEARS. I have to try other drugs, and I am on day 5 of NIGHT TERRORS every time I fall asleep. Even if it is for 20 minutes! I wake up like I was in the middle of a heart attack, but my vitals are always normal.

And I can't move the pain in my back is 11+. And this month the doctor found that my T vertebra are going. I have had 3 back surgeries, my complete lumbar fused, and MRI's showing failed fusion on multiple levels, 2 screws loose, one breached outside wall of L3, and a mass of fluid that is HA-MRSA surrounding my surgical site. Multi-levels of blown discs (now in old surgical areas) and massive constriction in multiple facet joints.

And both sciatic nerve canals are pinched. All this from a high-speed car accident (rear-ended by a vehicle exceeding highway speeds).

Is there anyone out there considering a class action lawsuit against the pharmacies? I see them prescribing OXY and Morphine for others, so why am I and others singled out?

jim where r you. County wise. im on east coast florida. i can set a doctor and pharmacy if in port st lucie county, ft pierce, vero beach. in south florida-palm bch county i know great dr i use to goto and shell help you-called peace of mind delray bch fl. great doctors. very helpful. asian and they understasnd how to help with the pain and write meds for messed up people like you and me. but do not threathen taking your life or i wont help. i lost someone in my life i didnt help in time while he made threats.
if it helps, ive been shot in 1995 to my face/neck and it blew my spine and face away in the neck. having to replace 4 neck vertabrae with plates and fusions and plate jaw. i went through the same thing last june when my doctor got shut down here in vero. doctors know im legit and my current dr wont write dilaudid(thats what most people on roxies were getting switched to) but he wont write those, no roxies, no opana, so i suffered for 2-3 months until my body got used to the new oxycontin drug levels in my system. but im doing better now. But they dont care, they dont want get busted and are scared. i am in a situation where the dr is writing my oxycontin with 10/325 percs for breakthru and im doing good for half the day and suffer the rest until i get my insurance and my ssi disability kicks in a few months. good luck. we got all our live one time here on earth. God loves you. Your strong or you wouldnt be here today. after life, you will be able to shut your eyes forever anyways. i live in pain too daily but am learning to deal with it. Goto church if you believe Jesus is your savior or if your jewish to goto the temple, or whatever religion you are, just plz dont give up it will pass. i have been where your at. thank God my old pharmacist orders my pain meds every month even though my doctor is 30 miles away in next town cause the pharmacist knows me and he know it wasnt our fault the dr got shut down and once my attorney got me a doctor i could get it filled anywhere and i gave up and a lighbulb went off to go and ask in person to the cool pharmacist to help me and he did just that. super nice guy.

I refuse to believe no one in our Government has Chronic Pain themselves and that they are going to stop giving pain meds to everyone but Cancer patients! Come on you Guys....we gotta do something about this....if not for OUR COMFORT and FUTURE..but AT LEAST FOR THE SAKE OF OUR CHILDREN AND GRANDCHILDREN who may end up with severe chronic pain and wish they could get the guts to pull the trigger on Life! Well, if 90% of Chronic pain patients are forced to return to living in pure agony as I am and the world becomes THAT STRICT....I hope it backfires on the DEA! Now...hear me..I've never done any "Street drugs" and I would be afraid to for them even...I still hope Heroin makes a Big Come back. I think a 5th Grader could figure out that you can take the drugs away from the ADDICT, but he/se is STILL an Addict! TheDEA will just have to get their legs in shape again, cause soon they will be running and chasing down the New Epidemic of Street drugs that they just created by ridding good People of their Pain medications. I guess they weren't smart enough to WEED OUT THE DRUG ADDICTS from the Real Chronic Pain patients or maybe the Govt. and the DEA are just too LAZY to try to tell the difference between People who have real Chronic Pain and the ones who get High for fun.You can see now just how bad the Human Race has become, by the horrible things they are doing in the name of JUSTICE! A legal way for one group(The DEA) of Humans to treat another large group of Humans(pain patients) as INHUMANE as they possibly can! We are being treated like those Lab Monkeys who are tortured daily with painful experiments and surgeries without anesthesia... Next thing ya know, they will say that anesthesia's bad for you andvyou will have to have Major Surgery with your EYES WIDE OPEN!

i had the same with dont stop abruptly. you know what happened when the dr got shut down, i went to hospital to try to get a referral, etc and few day meds till my appointment date. They didnt care and gave me flexiril for the leg cramps and 12 5/325 percocet. thats it, and i went through aweful withdrawl for 2 weeks and finally got through it and then found my new doctor and have no trouble getting meds anymore. I am not getting the roxies i use to get and i dont like dilaudid. I like oxycontin(anything oxycodone) which has worked on my pain for 13 years. I am on oxycontin with roxicodone 20mg(not the 15mg or 30mg) but 20mg-i didnt even know they made this but yes they do and get 2 a day for breakthrough. I dont like this oxycontin compared to the old formula but in april, purdue(oxycontin) patent runs out and generic companies are making the old formula again which will be released in usa april. its already in canada. i will ask my pharmacist to order the generic for me in april instead of the current brand. since they put the new coating on them they are terrible compared to the old formula. They are very expensive too.
good luck man, sometimes you just gotta bite the bullet and go through detox- it wont kill you with opiate withdrawl(it will make you wish you were dead) but anyways this is why they dont care if you stop abruptly. the things that theyll give you meds for is benzos. like my valium/xanax i get they refilled even after my dr got shut down because you can die from suddenly stopping taking these. But not the opiates. so, for me i smoked alot of weed to help me get through the detox 8 months ago and helped me get through the withdrawls till i got to my new dr appointment. good luck. its a mess out there

You can refuse the injections but chances are that you will just end up fired from that PM also. They are not required to treat you. Good luck.

Hi. I was wondering if you knew of some kind of mail order if you don't have insurance? Have been getting my script for oxy30 for 10 years,(also morphine100mg) now all a sudden my walgreens is giving me grief. They are saying some new policy as of 3/2013?I'm not sure if this is true or not .Are you aware of any new policies? I had posted some time ago with my story. I'm to physically and mentally exhausted to say all again. All I can say is that I can't understand who determined that a pharmacist has the power to decide if I will be in pain or not.I would like to just go through the mail and not have to deal with them anymore .I have been with my neurosurgeon for 12years, so he would be happy to do any required paperwork .I hope you or someone else can advise me.Thanks

Hello All,
I found a Very interesting website by .I will paste in site for you to go to,but it might be blank. If so go to Pharmacy times, its under Office of Continuing Professional Eduacation by Temple University. The Course is Called"The Pharmacist's Duty to Dispense Legally Prescribed and Therapeutically Apppropriate Opioid Analgesics".It is very informative.I believe it is from 2008,however it does have case law and tells about the DEA's regulation called "Corresponding Responsibility Rule".Here's the address: secure.pharmacytimes.com/lessons/200506-03.asp#. Good Luck ,I will be e-mailing this to Walgreen's corporate office .
