Fill Oxycodone Prescription (Page 39) (Top voted first)
UpdatedCannot fill them anywhere in Bradenton or Sarasota. Please help I have a real doctor and the pharmacy I have been going to the past year in my city says they will no longer fill out of county. Does anyone know of a pharmacy in Bradenton or Sarasota that can help a patient fill qty 180 oxycodone 30mg? Please help. On the verge of getting deathly ill w/out meds! Thank you.
Rhonda, i went from oxycodone to dilaudid and it felt like my life ended. The oxys gave me enough energy to attend, church, school and community events and enjoy my family. The first 6 months of dilaudid, i slept about 18-20 hours a day, then after i adjusted to it, i was up and then lounging on the sofa all day. No buzz, no high, just minor pain relief and plenty of lethargy. I eventually wound up with a deep vein thrombosis, i believe due to the inactivity. At one trip to the ER before they found the DVT, the nurse told me to stop taking the dilaudid because it causes muscle spasms. I guess thats how they get people willing to try the injections. For me it was poison, too bad though because as a teenager back in the 70's, i rather enjoyed dilaudid. I have a new doc and am back on the oxy and getting ready for the Fall Semester and going back to school. I had to withdrawal on the dilaudid, too lethargic. Good luck out there
Pharmtech is an uninformed poster looking to cause a stir. I am a cancer patient and I can not get these filled in Florida, possibly because I moved here within the past year. It was absolutely ridiculous what I had to go through to get my rx filled. Something must be done to prevent legitimate patients from suffering. The pharmacies start with the presumption that the customer with a script for a pain med is an addict. I had one pharmacist (Walgreens) ask to see my surgical scars before filling a script. As I said, I am a new resident of Fl, however I can not imagine this is a proper request. Of course I never would have thought someone with a legitimate script would have to go through what I have to get them filled.
As a side note, the neighbor in the house next to mine broke her leg and was given 12 percocets for pain. She has the script, two weeks now, as she was never able to get it filled (Sarasota Fl). This is a serious issue.
The article below is alot of the reason everyone is having so many problems with Walgreens and pain meds.
Walgreens Agrees to Pay a Record Settlement of $80 Million for Civil Penalties under the Controlled Substances Act-

That is the new Fl law. It's true. My doctor told me that on my last visit. He said the same thing. 80% long lasting and 20% short. I know it sucks but it's just another hurdle for us people who are really suffering in severe pain.
Savvy,
I looked in the Florida Laws & there is no such law. It is the drs choice, but it is not Law.
I'm an uninformed poster? Right. I'm just trying to tell you there's no shortage, there's no laws, we have all the meds you addicts are pining for... And I work at a non-independent pharmacy. We are just sick of seeing your dirtbag prescriptions from your dirtbag doctors. As far as the cancer comment, if you have cancer you should be seeing a cancer center. As always, best of luck ;)
Go to a cancer center for pain meds? In TN, no matter what kind of specialist you need or see, ONLY A CERTIFIED PAIN DOCTOR can write prescriptions for pain meds.
My husband had cronic back pain and has been several operations which has not helped. We have a script for him to get filled for Oxys and can not find anyone the the Bradenton or Sarasota area to fill them. He has gone to the same doctor for many years and truely needs this medication to help ease the pain. We have tried mail in pharmacies to no avail. Do you have any place that could help us?
It depends, my wife goes to her GP and gets her 7.5 hydrocodone, my TN. pain dr. told me that her dr. can write her those because his patient load does not exceed 50% pain scripts. So if he writes more blood pressure and other non narcotic meds than he does narcorics he is allowed to write pain meds as well. But it does not change the fact that these laws are so bogus, now you are treated more like a criminal before you start. My pain dr. told me last month about the new changes that went into effect 7/1 and I went through it yesterday. Thankfully my pain dr. is the new dr. at this pain clinic so I just had to go through all tyhe new patient BS to see him, drug test, fingerprint, mug shot, background check, etc. no big deal, it is a huge hassle but you got to play the game. I am legit, I know it and my doctors know it, thankfully he is willing to work with me on what I take...
Kerry who are you directing this towards? From what I have read, most of the folks here are legitimate intractable pain sufferers. Perhaps you accidentally came to the wrong forum. Surely you are not wishing that on top of our medical conditions, the humiliation we undergo, the absence of our former productive lives and the chronic pain that the meds don't cover; that we become addicted to our meds as well? Surely not, surely not. If you are, I can only guess thats its to continue the spread of the erroneous propaganda against the safety of opiates as treatment in non-cancerous patients. If so, shame on you!
There was a woman that said she was a pharmacist tech and sick of all the junkies and to suck it up.
Whew! Ok Kerri, cool. I do apologize for ranting back at you. I think if we all act and speak about opiates as no different than insulin or any other medication, we can propagate the positive effects of opiates. Im not trying to defend my ranting, that was just rude of me, I am sorry.
Maybe someone can help. I have a history of cancer (stage 3C lymph). I have lost my right lung, part of my mesentery that feeds o2 to the colon and other parts I won't get into. The Onc I see in Florida sent me to a pain management Dr for pain treatment. Over the past 2 months I have developed new pain in my gut along with a lump. I saw the pain Dr today (scheduled to see Onc next Wed.). The pain Dr says he is concerned with the location of the pain, but would not look at the lump. All he cares about is trying to follow the regulations re pain medicine, which BTW he reduced by 15% today as his records are about to be reviewed and he wants to show how he is cutting back meds to his patients. This seems wrong to me. Not even examining a patient but determining treatment based on predetermined goals of pain med dispensing. He had determined before seeing patients to cut back meds. He did say (as I mentioned) that there was concern about treating my pain if (please no) something is wrong again (I don't want to even say it). He suggested that I may want to go to another state where I have a home, as the treatment there would most assuredly be better and they would be able to control any pain more effectively. I understand there were, are problems with abuse, but putting sick people through such torture is not how a passionate people should want patients to be treated. I don't know if I should see another doctor for pain, or if all will be this way.
No problem. I am having the same problem as everyone else. I just moved from nyc and I cant believe that a pharmacist can override a doctor. Now they think they're playing god with people's lives. If you have found any solution please email me privately
DEE,
I was doing the mail in order for almost a year..feds came in an screwed that up too!! As of January, they stipulated new regulations for (pain med.) mail orders going into Florida. They never told me this until I sent my scripts off next day delivery, kept my scripts, and then sent them back to me and didn't tell me why! I had to get my lawyer on the phone to get some straight answers, as the customer phone reps wouldn't let me speak to a pharacist, and kept telling me to go back to my doctors office to get info. But after having my lawyer conferrence call a pharmacist I finally got the straight scoop. They said feds put new regs. on pain scripts, that 80% of your daily intake needs to be extended release, and 20% can be instant release...so after withdrawling and going thru incredible pain, (as I was was in a motorcycle accident back in 2008 which left me paralized in my left leg and broke my left hip off my spinal cord) I went back to my pain doctor, who put me on fentynal patches and lowered the mg and dosage of my ir meds in half. Started sending through the mail again and things where fine for 2 months...then they said they coudn't fill them anymore cause it was not 80/20 ratio!!! huh?????? THEN WHY DID YOU FILL THEM FOR 2 MONTHS???? So anyways, don't fool yourself into thinking mail order is any better, because the feds have messed that system all up too!! AND THEN THEY WONDER WHY WE'RE HAVING A HERION EPIDEMIC IN FLORIDA AND PEOPLE ARE DROPPING LIKE FLYS!!!! CRAZINESS!! Maybe if they legalized marijuana nationwide, we wouldn't have to be on so many pain meds! I've never taken a pain pill in my life until my accident, and now they treat me and make me feel like I'm some kind of junkie cause I'm 28yrs old, have a 5 yr old daughter, so I'm very active, and don't like living in pain!!
Omg I literally just went through the same thing with aetna! You just told my story
Wow! I just got an ER but its because I asked for it. I was trying not to say, "hey you need to up the oxy to catch up with what I really take. So i inquired bout an ER. After three weeks, I quit taking thhem, they knock me out like the dilaudid did. Its less than 1/10 of my last ER dose but since the time on dilaudid anything with morphine knocks me out. Do feds realize that even if intractable pain sufferers could take oxy like meds as needed, that we still wouldnt be high and ripping and running through town causing chaos and crime. Pain patients dont get the benefit of getting 'high' it goes straight to the receptors. Here in TN though its on the books, not all doc are prescribing ER to folks. Some are getting more than one IR, they just write instructions to look like an ER.
This is very frustrating. Who is there that can help. The government has really been saying to us they do not care. The Obamacare law, with Obama saying the part of the law dealing with max out of pocket expense is postponed another year (can he do that legally? Isn't it the law? How do you just "Say" we are or are not going to follow certain parts of the law.). Giving Congress an exemption from Employer (us) subsidized plans. Determining how much pain med a doctor can give, without any knowledge at all about the patient. What is happening? This is wrong. I don't want to sound like I should be wearing a foil hat, but between the fed governments interference between a doctor and patient, the IRS targeting people, the DOJ investigating reporters, we seem to be going the wrong way. Would someone more familiar with the law know if the Americans with Disability Act somehow offers protection from government interference in a patients care?
kerri,
yeah its crazy! its gota be 80/20 when dealing with mail in orders now, but if you can find a local pharmacy who has them, they will fill it! I don't get it! So yeah, last month OptumRx wouldn't fill my scripts, so I had to go local, and was only able to fill my fentynal patches. (which thank god I was at least able to find those!) Just went back to my doctor last week for monthly visit, and he took me off 15mg 210qty oxy completely, and put me on some kind of 10mg-325mg 150qty Narco, which i've never even heard of before! So he switched my meds and lower my mg, and my dosage!!...huh?? Were they do that at?? So now I'm switching back to my old Doctor, cause DR BRIAN JAMES (and yes I'm putting him on front street, cause he is a worthless Doctor and doesn't care about his patients pain, only cares about losing his liscense!) keeps switching my meds everytime I have a problem. Which I told him all he has to do is lower my IR dosage and put me on another ER medication, but he doesn't listen to his patients, he thinks he knows everything! So hopefully I have better luck with my old doctor, but only problem is he won't perscribe the fentynal patches, which work great for me for my ER pain medication. Only reason I stopped going to him was he doesn't take insurance for pain management and its $150 a visit, but at least he'll get my pain under control, cause I'm tired of this, having acouple good months, then having acouple bad months shyt! I just wish I didn't have to take pain meds all together! I never asked for this, it was just all dropped in my lap one night driving home from work minding my own business! SMH....
Try suboxone...u can get it anywhere..its amazing stuff and lasts as long as methadone..actually longer!!
