Extreme Fatique, Joint Pain, Muscle Weakness With Eliquis For Afib (Page 4)

I was having extreme fatigue, joint pain, muscle weakness after starting Eliquis and started to having black stool with nausea and abdominal pain. I gradually reduced the dose until no longer taking Eliquis nor ever will. It really put a fear in me. Asprin works for me via my AFIB. I can tell if my blood is too thick when my heart is working hard to pump the blood out of my heart. I feel much better when my heart is pumping normally when the blood is thinner. You sometimes have to insist to your doctor the side effects you are feeling, this is a fairly new medication. Anyone else have these side effects?

Yes, I was getting headaches with Apixaban too so my go halved the dose. Now I feel better. It's not Apixaban that causes my problems but the drug I'm given for osteoporosis called denosumab. I am not going to continue with it when my next jab is due in November!!!

I had Afib and on May 25th was admitted to the hospital. May 26th I had Cardioversion and was put on Elquis 5mg 2 times daily... Very sick with Elquis (very tired, pain in my legs, headaches like my brain was going to burst, very upset stomach and very forgetful, could not remember what day it is)... On July 21st I stopped Elquis - took aspirin 81 mg in the morning and night. Now I take one aspirin 81 mg night... Also take Cartiaxt 120 mg morning and Lisinopril 20mg night. I am a 69 year old woman. I can't tolerate medication so my stomach hurts every day.... Didn't have Afib so far. Elquis gave me terrible side effects...

WHY OH WHY ARE YOU POSTING COMMENTS REGARDING ELIQUIS HERE WHEN ALL EXCEPT ONE ARE FROM YEARS 2014 AND 2016 THAT IS TOTALLY UNPRODUCTIVE. THE 2017 COMMENT WAS POSTED BACK IN FEBRUARY - What happened to all those people who were so desperately in need to getting off Eliquis or having to live with the drugs terrible consequences.

My update as of September 12, 2017 is - this month is my one year anniversary of being told by a full of himself cardiologist to take the drug or my chances of heart attack or stroke were quite the opposite of my chance of winning the lottery. I'm onto baby aspirin, several vitamin supplements co q 10, turmeric, garlic, cinnamon, triple omega 3-6-9, b,e,c,d3, as examples I take every natural supplement to thin my blood that I know of at this time and so far - I'm 85 and relieved I said NO TO ELIQUIS.

Hi, I am having terrible side effects from Eliquis. My hair is falling out, I feel like a zombie, my legs are swollen, I am tired all the time, mental fog, I feel like I have Alziemers this all happened in a month. I was feeling like a normal full of energy person then my Dr put me on Warfarin, had terrible side effects, then tried Xeralto, it was worse, then Eliquis it’s like it’s poisoning my whole system. I don’ t know what to do my Dr thinks I am a nut case.

I am 45 y/o, had a non-CVT blood clot in my right leg. Started Eliquis in Aug '17. After 3 months, I noticed muscle weakness. It's like my legs have lost their "stamina". I was a fast walker and runner, but not anymore. I can walk, but notice the weakness. I can jog a little, and can no longer work up the momentum to run. I'm investigating rehab options with my doctor and exploring options with legal counsel. It's important people search for legal cases tied to this drug.

I have been suffering tinnitus and lightheadedness. My pharmacist said to change over to night time dose of Avapro / BP medication. I have been on them for years. Why the dizziness now? I’m also trying to lose a few kilos in four weeks before I see my GP again for a follow up on the aspirin change over from Xarelto now that the clots have cleared.

I AM TAKING 2.5 MG OF ELIQUIS TWICE A DAY, ALONG WITH 90MG DILTIAZIM. I HAVE FATIGUE AND MUSCLE WEAKNESS, AND DISTURBING HAIR LOSS, WHICH IS NOT LISTED AMONG SIDE EFFECTS IN THE INSTRUCTIONS.

I’m on Xarelto with side effects of a hurting and numb arm. Also feel tired. I don’t like taking it.

You are not alone here. I had the same issue after 6 months on Eliquis. I could barely get to the treadmill, where I have successfully ran for 35 years. My legs were so weak that it was difficult to walk. Now compare that to running for one hour at 4 MPH at an incline of 1 to 1.5 degrees. I told my doctor, and he was skeptical.....this is typical. So I had him switch me to Coumadin, and within a week I was pretty much back to normal, where I am today. The manufacturer, Bristol Myers, tries their best to HIDE this problem. Watch carefully their ads on TV. This problem is well hidden. Coumadin has its issues, but nothing like Eliquis as far as I am concerned. This apparently does not happen to everyone. Maybe the better athletes are more affected versus folks who are not very active. Just my guess here.

My dad is on Eliquis and Metoprolol. He has only been on it for two months now but has complained of leg weakness from day one. The doctors reduced his Lipitor down to 40 MG from 80 MG this didn't help. They refuse to take him off Eliquis and let him go back to an Aspirin a day which he was fine on for his A Fib the past 9 years. I will be calling them again tomorrow after reading all these posts.

I had many side effects such as dry mouth, sore muscles and joint pain throughout my body. I had been on it for only 4 months. I just quit because I could no longer deal with the side effects. I had a blood clot in my right lower leg. I am seeing a blood specialist. I would assume that he would put me back on another blood thinner. I prefer not. I will not take any of the newer drugs.

Yes, major muscle weakness with fatigue can’t wait till I can stop talking this drug. Doctor does not acknowledge that it could be from the meds.

Hi I haven't been on it long but I am tired, muscle pain and stomach pain. Am going to my doctor tomorrow so am going to tell him how I feel. Am going to ask him if I can take Cartia tablets instead of this tablet. Hate feeling so yuck.

Unfortunately, most doctors have a tendency to discount patient complaints about side effects of drugs. Just keep after him or her, and let your doctor know you are not making this stuff up.

Since taking Eliquis,I have been gaining weight,dizzy,trouble sleeping and severe breathing problems. My doctor gave it to me to prevent strokes,but I need to stop. So glad I read these comments,I just wanted to make sure I wasn't just imagining all these changes in my health.

I have been on eliquis for 5 weeks and have started experiencing pain in my right leg. I am worried about stopping it as I have clots in my lung. I have health anxiety so I'm really out of my mind.

The doctors ALMOST ALWAYS ignore these very valid complaints. That is how they are taught. So do not rely on them to fess up. They are afraid of lawsuits, and the drug companies give them lots of perks. Look it up. The bottom line is that Eliquis almost did me in. See my posts. And true to form, the docs dismissed this, even though when I went off the problems of weakness and pain in my legs went away. So complain to FDA by filling out a MED WATCH FORM. May help, but with the current administration in power, FDA is pretty much WORTHLESS, sorry to say. FDA is more concerned with getting money from the drug companies so the drug firms get their new drugs approved faster....WHAT A MESS WE HAVE HERE!!!
