Can you tell me about any doctors who can prescribe Vicodin

i am 65, been on pain meds many many years. i am in south jersey. this is the 1st time with out meds. I need a doctor like yesterday. I been around the block 100 times and don't have it in me any more. anybody got a doctor I can see? this is realy f***ed up. my doctor's under investagation

The whole point of being a Dr. is to treat illness. Chronic pain is an illness. If a patient presents with massive damage to a body part causing obvious severe pain, that Dr. must alleviate that pain, not take away what alleviates it and give them nothing, the accuse them of abusing and being an addict. If they diagnose addiction, treat the addiction, don't berate the person, humiliate them, and throw them out the door. Compassion is the key word here. Many Drs have forgotten that. To treat illness and alleviate pain. That is what a Dr is for. Not to bill as many as possible. Toss out anyone who is in too much pain to treat with Aleve or Advil.

I'm beginning to believe BL works for an insurance company and not someone suffering from a disease or condition that causes chronic pain. The DEA SPECIFICALLY states in their directive to healthcare providers that the new law is NOT meant for Drs to UNDERmedicate out of fear of reprisals from oversight but instead, to merely understand the new process of controlling the dispensation of narcotic painkillers. I never said there was a LAW against under medicating. There is, however, warnings to providers to be careful not to under medicate pain.

Try reading it. It's very easy to read. Plain english. No big multi syllabic words. It's also repeated several times in the first of the 2 pages.
My point is, if you have 4 broken vertebrae, a fractured pelvis, and an exposed fracture of your femur. And your Dr prescribes tylenol, report them for it. The patient's bill of rights states that we have the right to be treated accordingly for our afflictions. The entire point of the rescheduling was to put a stop to Drs prescribing 120 oxy's with 10 refills for the same person every week. Naturally the radical right declared all narcotic painkillers evil and creating instant addicts one step from lying in the gutter with a H needle hanging out of their arms.

The DEA is warning Drs NOT to overreact and under medicate. They are doing just that. The only way to stop it is to speak up. Do that in the clinic and you're labelled a drug seeker/addict/pill popper. Instead, all I'm suggesting, is do it professionally, by filing a complaint. It is our right as patients. The Dr just has to file a response justifying their decision to take a patient off narcotic painkillers. Prove it with documentation (charts and empirical data).

If the board sees something wrong, or a Dr has excessive complaints, they can call that Dr. into a hearing where they present their side of the story to a group of medical professionals. Much like a grand jury. The plaintiff (the patient) may be asked to make statements as well. It's part of having a license to practice any profession. I had a contractors license and electricians license and was held to those rules too. It's why you get to charge people for your services. Because you are held to a higher standard. Don't you think a medical doctor should be held to a higher standard than, say, some guy down the street with a couple needles and thread?

Used up, I misunderstood. I thought you meant there were new laws stating drs can't undermedicate. Filing a complaint may make you feel better. But, no one is going to make a dr prescribe pain meds, even if complaints are made. If that were the case, patients wouldn't be having problems obtaining the pain meds. What is going on now isn't new.

internal medicine doctor that will prescribe pain meds for my sciatica, back pain and knee pain in st. louis, mo my last internal medicine doctor transferred to public health. she was the greatest and understood pain and I never abused my meds, take them as prescribed please.

Karen. I've been to page 5, actually I'm in it myself, and I see no posts from a "BL". He seems to be ignoring everyone someone asks him what his injury or pain is. I don't think he had anything. I just think he wants to run his mouth. I think we should stop feeding into it. He must be what they call a "troll" and just wants to start things.

Link is different in each State. Look up you're State's a Department of Labor, Licensing, and Regulation.
You can call them and ask them to walk you through the process.
May be different in each State but they try to help and will work with you.
In SC, you can do it anonymously, electronically, or on record and print out the form. They will even mail the form to you. It's 2 pages and simple to fill out.
Just spend 5-10 minutes searching.
I chose to do mine on record and on paper so I can fill them out as I stand at the receptionist window.

To grandma pat well said that is what I'm going throw right now and I have 5 kids and a husband that woke up from being in a coma for 8 days that was last year Oct 28,2014 he came home on Nov 11,2014. In tell this day is still forgetting a lot of things. I have had back pain when I was 10 yrs old and I just found out I have Ankylosing spondylitis I tested 100% positive for it. That's worst than R.A. and I only got 20 yrs left to live. I'm allergic to all types of steroids and nuroblockers and ibuprofen, N said, M said, prednisone and tramadol. My pcd had me on 20 mg of oc but they are know op same thing but to take 9 of them in a 24 hour period and for break Thur pain take 10/325 vicdone 3 times a day. I went for all that down to having nothing now. They said I need to find a chronic pain program cause I need long term pain meds for the rest of my life. They have me on cancer pills to try and slow the ageing down. It seams to work a little I can tell when I forgot to take them. I take them once a week. Doesn't any one see how many people are over dosing cause of the cut backs and not listing to there patients any more cause they all think if you are on narcotics that you are a drug seeker. I have poof of what's wrong with me and they still trying to try something new with me. I said I just want what iv been on for 8 yrs and it still works very good for me is I want my 20 mg of op 4 times a day and my 10/325 mg of vicdone 3 times a day for the break Thur pain. That would make my life a lot better. My kids and husband are suffering cause I'm suffering bad!!! There is days I just want to be dead cause of all the pain and yet I'm still here cause of my son he texted positive for ankylosing spondylitis too but so far he shows no pain yet but my boy already suffers from ADHD, tics, germophobia,and almost died 4 yrs ago from starlit fever. His spine is curved by 32cm that is not good. I will pray for you and everyone else that is suffering like us that real soon here that someone can help us. Thanks for ready my message. File complaint with your State's Medical Review Board.
DEA and other agencies issued warnings to all Drs NOT to undermedicate due to new rules. They repeated this multiple times in the statement.
I believe it's not thr DEA, FDA, or Drs that are making these decisions to shut doen pain treatment with real meds. It is their corporate hierary and the worry over higher malpractice costs that are telling docs to stop all narcotic painkillers.

I hope to get hold of my fellow Brother in Arms, that Jarhead that posted the wonderful information.

I do not have pain from being in the service or in a wartime situation, but thank goodness for Dr. S in the Women's Clinic in the Las Vegas VA Hospital...after being diagnosed with fibromyalgia, because I have severe pain in my shins (no reason), along with lower pain in my back (possible arthritis in the spine), I was told by the pain management doctors that opoids were not indicated for fibromyalgia, so that they could not give me pain medicines. I think they gave me tramadol, which I understand is now not allowed, also.

My old regular doctor told my new doctor, Dr. S, that I was a "drug seeker". I told the new doctor my story, and she actually listened, and prescribed me hydrocodone. For almost a year now, I have been on oxycodone, 30mg, against her better wishes, but she is trying.

Now, my left shoulder is flaring up with bursitis. It flares up about every 4 hours, but I get my oxycodone at 6 hours. I also take Lyrica, Pregablin, soma, acetaminophen, ibuprofen, and a medicine, that I can't remember, that is supposed to help with restless syndrome (that is supposed to try to help my leg pain, since I move at night to try to ease the pain).

I can't get any other help from my doctor, I was basically told by her nurse that there isn't anything else she can do, and that I would have to bear it. I want to consult a pain doctor, and pay for it out of pocket, but I am afraid that I would be accused of "doctor shopping" and that I would be reported to the dea.

I am considering going to Dr. Reefer, and getting a referral for marijuana. The few times I have tried Marijuana, I got a headache...and I got sleepy. Not high, not mellow, just wanted to sleep (I got the same reaction from coke, when I tried it...both of them, I tried 20+ years ago). I don't want the marijuana to feel high, for the above mentioned reasons...I want to see if I can get a strain that is made just for the pain relief, and other methods of delivery...brownies, cookies, vapor, whatever.

I don't know if it will work, and I am afraid that my doctor might take me off the medicines if I ask about this type, and if it would help. But I have seen where other veterans have taken it for their chronic pain, so I believe it's accepted.

I am just worried about shelling out the money for the referral, and the application, and the license, and then finding out that they don't have the alternate deliveries here, or that it won't work for me...but you gotta have faith, of course.

I told the nurse that I was having severe pain, level 7 pain (which is the level that I go to the ER), but that I didn't want to go to the ER, because I didn't want to be seen as a drug seeker, but the answer I got back in email was to go to the ER if I had pain. SO.....if I go to the ER every time I have pain, I get seen as a pain seeker, but if I go to the doctor, then I can't get help? ARGH!

Oh, well...will just continue...I think next week, I am going to try to go to Mental Health, and see if I can start a process for disability...I am sleeping up to 20 hours a day, pain makes it sometimes so I can't type for 2+ hours at a time, or sit comfortably, I can't stand really for more than 15 minutes, I can't wash dishes or sweep/mop a floor, I haven't tried to clean my 2 bathtubs for the last 2 years for fear of the pain that would start, and I am really worried about work. I wouldn't be able to file, I wouldn't be able to bend over to read weights, standing long times to clean equipment before sterilization (if I get a job as a medical administrative assistant)... in fact, durin my externship as a MAA, I had pneumonia, and ear infections, and almost was returned to the school because of it, and the two assignments before, I had "sleeping" attacks, where I was nodding off (I don't remember being at the first meeting at all, til 2 hours later, and the second one, I was just nodding down, then jerking up, then down...I was slurring my words, and the billing clerk told me I might have something wrong with me, I went in, and they thing I had a TIA, a "minor stroke", but now that I have read up on it, I might have had an episode of narcolepsy...so I am going to present this information to the mental health, go through whatever I need, and see if they will agree, and send me on to the disability process.

If you want a "pen pal" to talk about your case, how you are getting along, suggestions, requests for prayers, and anything else, even just a shoulder to cry on, I would love anyone...even Squids. *laughs* ....hey, I broke down, and married a former Squid...but he was redeemed in my eyes, because he was a Nuclear Mechanics Mate on the Enterprise...I am a Trekkie, so since he served on that, he has a few extra points in my eyes...sadly, we separated, but are very good friends.

I'm beyond my limit. Gone to great lengths to expand my threshold of pain but nothing left. All I get for my degenerative bulging discs, stenosis, nerve damage...all verified, is 800mg ibuprofen. My pain Dr claims it's some wonder drug. It's 4 f***ing Advil. I take 6 times the max of Tylenol, 4 times the dose of those Ibuprofens, and not a shadow of relief. Dr. gets pissed when I explain how it isn't helping and can't function and getting worse. I told him my liver will fail if he keeps under medicating my pain.

Filed complaint couple weeks ago. Saw a new Dr. and I'm certain he was buddies with my existing Dr. The entire 90 second initial visit was him berating me for looking for a new dr. so soon after surgery. Goes on to gush about how great my current Dr. is. I gave up and left. Not paying his bill. F*** these ghouls.

I'm with U ... Used up. & again Id like 2 no y BL is back on here. I went back & read some of the posts & BL has stirred up trouble posting to others on here like Marriane about paper work. She knows wat she needs & has it of course & yet she like so many others on here come here come to find help or give help !! Still haven't seen a mention as to wat the ailment is for this one Bl. Had me on the defensive before. Makes me also not want to visit this site!! Yet it's been so helpful to express ourselves & find some comfort. So y is bl back & wat IS the PAIN problem bl needs or seems not to need help with. Please stop, 2date this week has been wats feeling the worst & so I come here to c how so many I've met on here might b doing & express how im feeling & hope to find help or just the comfort that that those I've met on here have given me ... It so nice to hear back like from NJSHORE. She I hope is or has found some relief since her last post a few days ago. this is y we come here. thanks to all my best & same thing going on with F100. He's in PAIN as we all R suffering from different forms of PAIN or problems from meds. Or find that these docs leave out info on paper work or even some change things that's been written to protect themselves. So we try to help each other to stay infomed & reach out to show compassion that is not being given to so many suffering with PAIN. so again please let us no if u r in need of help with PAIN bl. ?? F100, read that California Law. It states a physician "may treat"
not that he must treat. You are confusing the Bill Of Rights that are the first 10 Amendments To The United States Constitution with Patients Bill Of Rights. They are not the same thing.

BL what I forgot to say was that the law is called Intractable pain patients bill of rights law that states doctor are to treat pain the same as they would any other medical condition. Not opinion but fact!

BL maybe this wil get to you? California inacted a law presented by Senator Green which passed. The law states that doctors must treat intractable pain as a mdeical condition. this is some thing more than an opinion. What is your pain from or your injury? If you know what intractable pain is you would have better things to say to the people on this forum. Maybe you shoud quit posting on here for this is for people with uncurable pain.

When people don't know the difference between Laws and Guidelines, they can't sucessfully advocate for themselves or others. People go to jail for not obeying Laws. Guidelines are peoples opinions and suggestions, they aren't laws. It doesn't matter how many people agree with Guidelines, they aren't the same as Laws that are written, adopted and enforced.

Does anyone have any experience with fentanyl patches? Since my doctor won't give me anything strong enough he keeps changing my meds each time. Now he wants to put me on these patches to see if they help. Plus something for breakthrough pain. I'm so frustrated. If he would just prescribe me a higher dose of the oxycodone I would be able to manage my pain. Instead he keeps giving me a low dose of different meds each time. last month he put me on opana 15 but they only helped for a few hours. And they are supposed to work for 12 hours. That was such bull. And they hurt my stomach so bad that I lost 15 pounds in one month because I couldn't eat. Every time I ate my stomach would hurt more. I'm doing some research now on them and I'm getting some good and some bad reviews. Some people complained about weight gain or going through withdrawal before the next patch could be put on. And it's extremely dangerous to get off of. I'm worried. But also this doctor keeps pushing for me to get an epidural for my back and I don't want it. It terrifies me. To the point that I get anxiety and feel sick. I don't know what to do. If he would just put me on the oxy 30s I used to take before I would be fine. But according to him the 10s I was on were strong enough. But I was still going through withdrawls from the methadone while taking the 10s. It wasn't enough. Why can't he understand that my tolerance is already high? And I failed my last drug panel because the methadone is not out of my body yet. I have hepatitis c which affects my liver function. But he still yelled at me accusing me of taking it still. He cut me off for a week which made me have to take the methadone again. Because I can't go a week without anything. I go back tomorrow and I know that my last drug panel still showed a high amount of the methadone so I don't know what he will do. If he kicks me out because of something I can't control I will be pissed and back on the methadone. I decided to get off of it on my own. And I'm trying to. But I can't when I'm still going through withdrawal from it and the doctor won't give me anything strong enough to stop the withdrawals. I'm so mad. It's Not fair. I'm not a drug addict. I have severe pain and ended up dependant on methadone. It's going to happen after being on it for 2 years. And the doctor never listens to me. He never let's me talk. Why are all pain doctors like that? What happened to being concerned about the patient? What happened to being a good doctor? I'm really scared that when I go tomorrow he's going to kick me out and I'm going to be back on the methadone. I don't want to be on that stuff. And I can't control what my liver does.
