I need a doctor in the pgh area. I have had 11 back surgeries, chronic pain and anxiety. My pcp gave me a month to find one... Please help.
Nancy .....go to Mountain Top near wilkesbarre.....to a Dr. M Adajar. It's a female. She is very generous and works with the VA in wilkesbarre as well. So she has a soft spot for people hurting and especially legit people. Trust me it may be a long drive from the Poconos. Although you will walk out with anything you pretty much are looking for!
Ps. MAKE SURE YOU SEE THE FEMALE! I gave her first initial only because I think your smart enough to find her first name with that info!
Bustleton and Grant and Haverford.
Hi everyone who is a pain management patient. I think we should take this a step further and organizing marches on the Capitol. A peaceful one. To let these people know who they are. Anyone interested. I don't know how to organize and keep doing this so they can hear our plea. There are good people hurting that are not addicts. Anyone know how to do this. I don't like Trump but I really think he is the only one for the poor and desolate. Get back if anyone knows how to organize one. The democrats will follow this new rule to a tee and I never thought I would think of changing political parties. Someone tell me if I'm wrong on that.
Thank you, Keikee:
I appreciate the response. Greenville is a 3-4 hour drive. I do think some of these Dr's need to take pain patients seriously. If the government gets their way, there will be no more pain clinics. I have no PCP. I only a month worth of meds. left since the discharge freak gave me 3 months. It is hard to find a Dr. you can trust. They all want to give shots which don't last long for the $. I am afraid of withdrawal which is hell.It is my back burning everyday. I ice it constantly. I want to ck. out ProPublica you mentioned. I have to get someone soon or I just might use liquor instead! This is crazy going through this red tape B.S.!
Omgosh Lisa, $400? I sure didn't pay a dime to get on that site! I bookmarked on my laptop so I'll check it out as soon as I get home.
Jo, I don't know what part of NC you're in but the first pain specialist I met was in NC in 1994. I'd never even heard of "pain management specialists" til my urologist got tired of filling my Vicoden or whatever it was & referred me. The practice was brand new & I drove 45 minutes to Greenville, NC every month to see my Dr who was amazing. I've moved twice since then and never met another like him. He didn't let me leave that state until he'd gotten me an appt with a guy he knew from residency all the way in Cleveland, Ohio. His name is Leslie Johnson and the last time I saw him was 2001 so I have no idea if he's still there. ...
Nancy, Wow, what your husband's drs did to him with regard to his meds is beyond my comprehension! Our military deserve the very best medical care possible. I think it's a travesty to have any military person jerked around in any way but to have a man like your hubs as a patient for years, getting along on certain meds & suddenly stop prescribing one or most because of new guidelines they received in a letter sent by a federal gov agency made up of non medical execs of some sort is just so wrong in every sense. GRRRR. Makes me so mad!
Lisa, I think I may have contacted this Dr. Where exactly is he located. I don't want to make the same mistake and go to that Dr. So sorry you were treated that way. Yes we are in pain but we don't want to take meds that we will get so addicted to. Thanks for the details
Keizer,
Hi is that exactly how it's spelled, because I went to the site and they want you to pay almost 400.00 for the download . If anyone is reading this DO NOT GO TO DR MICHAEL GUTHRIE . He gave me a quick appointment didn't take my insureance tells me to finish the OxyContin 80 after I begged him to flush them down the toilet and he said he would write for 15 mg oxycodone . I said okay because the other medicine makes me so sick. Then says come back in 2 weeks for the RX. Because insurance won't fill so soon. Told him I was a certified Pharm tech for 12 years and they would even fill that for break through which was not what I was asking. I just wanted the one med he could shove the OxyContin . Took my money. I flipped. I yelled and told him give me my money or I'm reporting him to the DEA for not taking my insurance when my insurance said he did. Or I was going to break his face. His face turned white. Stood over him while I made him delete all my info from the computer and give all copies of my records back.
He doesn't care now that I am discharged. Frankly, he is an ass. His staff are i****s too. They have a care-less attitude when it comes to patients. They lied to me telling me I was refusing to go off Klonopin when I simply said it would be hard after 7 years but I would try & I asked what they recommend in place of Klonopin but they didn't have sense enough to answer that? They don't want you to ask ?'s like why he is coming up now after 2 years. I need a pain doctor in NC.
Keikee. The VA dr did that to my husband as well. Was taking Klonopin for 3 yrs n when the pain medicine bs came down they stopped his Vicodin ( which he takes for an injury he suffered in a terrorist attack in Germany) n his Klonopin n his Ambien. Just like that. I couldn't believe it. So he had to find a regular famy doctor who was sympathetic n able to give him his regular meds that he had been on for years.
My last post is a response to Jo not No. Lol
Hi No, are you saying your Dr discharged you because you continued taking prescribed Klonopin? How about having your shrink or family doc or whomever it is prescribing your Klonopin writing a letter to your pain specialist explaining the medical diagnosis/ reason for the Klonopin script in the first place? It seems unreasonable for a dr you've been a patient of for years suddenly demand you stop taking a prescribed medicationhe's known about since day one.
I don't know. I think they block out UR email address if U put it out there
Good Luck Nancy, Did you find anyone in Philadelphia . I am not liking this OxyContin and my insurance will not pay and the other meds are just as bad. I hate the 90 percent of people who make it hard for those that are severely disabled. If you find one in Philly let me know.
God Bless You,
Lisa
I'm sorry about that. I understand. Just not myself. I'm a compliant patient, always submitted clean drug panels, only call the doctor early like on a Tuesday or Thursday to ask to pick up a RX because Wednesday and Friday they close early and Pharmacy is closed on Sunday. So I would pick up RX from Doctor, drop off at pharmacy, pick up on Saturday if it was due Sunday, only if It was time. I don't know. OxyContin 80 does not agree with me; lots of negative side effects. Insurance called yesterday and said they won't pay for it and want me on hydromorphone, or oxymorphone (Opana) no thanks. And the other I had been on years ago also gave me very bad migraines.
P.S. To everyone searching for pain management on this thread, at this point I personally do not have any dr I can recommend. If your family doc or whatever doc will make a referral for you will refer you to a local hospital's pain clinic, it's Prob your best option. That or a single dr in his/her own practice. I wish I had more to offer you guys. Your family physician or primary care can be your best asset right now. Keep them informed of your status so they can keep you in mind when they meet or find out about a pain dr in the area.
To everyone reading this thread relating to; "Drs in PA that prescribe oxycodone",those that are searching for a pain specialist to specifically prescribe medication. I just found a website called propublica.org. The propublica site holds a wealth of info regarding pain specialists in every state in this great USA. There's a search bar on the site. Type in your city and state, click the mag glass symbol & you'll have a last of drs way too long to list here. It tells you the drs specialty and the percentage of narcotics the dr prescribes. Percentage as far as out of 100% of the meds they prescribe how many were controlled substances aka narcotics. I just read a Dr's background who prescribes 85% narcotics which was unusual. Most pain specialists, in my area anyway showed 45-59%. You can click on the drs name and find their demographic info as well.
I understand what you are going through. Where do you live? Maybe I can help you. Also what is the name of this Doctor who is doing this so I don't run into his office?
Hi, i was wondering if you could tell me where in pa you are and the name of your Dr? I desperately need to find a new one. Thanks hun.
