Doctors In Pa That Prescribe Oxycodone (Page 25)

I need a doctor in the pgh area. I have had 11 back surgeries, chronic pain and anxiety. My pcp gave me a month to find one... Please help.

Hi Brian. Im so sorry to hear what ur dealing with and unfortunately I and a lot of us on here can relate. Are u willing to drive to Stroudsburg for pain management? I know of one or 2 here in Stroudsburg, not sure what what type of pm's u need. One of the drs doesn't give out what i need so i dont see him
** Other then u not wanting to drive to NJ anymore is there any other reasons u want to leave ur current Pain Dr? If hes willing to continue 2 prescribe u enough meds that work then in my opinion ur very blessed. I used to drive to NJ once a month from Stbg for my pain Dr for years & he was a good Dr with giving me the relief I needed. ( he is no longer practicing medicine)

I have not. I actually did call them a few years ago and got the same answer you did. I think it may have been because they didnt take my insurance. Do you have insurance/if so what kind? I know theres a few they dont accept from my research. That may be a factor in why they wont take you on. Im hoping to find someone soon. Hope youre feeling ok!

Hi Tara, Thanks for the reply. I'll start out saying yes I have one of those great relationships with my Dr. He even told me your the one and only l write this kind of meds for meaning (methadone) because he says he likes me. Lol he's a Suboxone Dr. so you can't throw any punches at him by getting more. I'm willing to remain with him for the rest of my life but I know he's going to retire in about 3 yrs. So I'm trying to prepare for where I live now in Macungie PA and yes I would be willing to drive to Stroudsburg or be driven to Stroudsburg. My mom's boyfriend lives in Winona Lakes East Stoudsburg. I know the area. I used to see a pain doc up there before I moved to Jersey and then ended up in Macungie, lol what can I say, SSDI doesn't pay good. But anyways I used to see Dr. Vanderslues or however you would spell his name. Can't find him anymore. I was advised to maybe try a Neurologist. They can write those kind of scripts, wish I could find one. I honestly don't want a pain Dr. They screw with you to almost make u look like a junkie. Pill counting and U/A's, which are ok but if you take your meds too fast which we all have one time or another, and just other crap I can't come up with the moment. That's why I like methadone, you don't feel like you always want more and it always works. It works great for bone pain and believe me I tried most opiates out there. But methadone is one opiate you could die from coming off of if not taken off properly. Tara do u know any pain docs up in Stroudsburg? I know they're like a dime a dozen up there but I need one I can trust and prescribe that kind of med or meds. Like I said, thanks for the reply. Hope to hear from u again.

Hi Tara, I also wanted to ask ya if you know who I could write to, like a state representative or someone like that because of the way they do it in the Allentown PA area. Meaning check your records or more like what meds you are on before they even consider seeing you. That should be against the law. But I also got to remember bad people ruined it for us and now the DEA is so strict right now. There should be a way to weed us good and bad people out so us good people don't have to be bothered with the way we are now. Thanks again and hope to hear from you.

Hi Tara, Thanks for reply. I have Medicare will be disabled for rest of my life. My disease started at my age of 25 and now 41. I can't get Medicaid because I make to much on SSDI check. I feel fine on my meds. Hope you're feeling good to.

CARMINE, im so sorry to hear about ur dad. My heart goes out to u. I agree that Dr was so compassionate with his patients, the whole staff was. I've laughed & cried with them all too. And none of them judged, which is something pretty rare now a days. I still keep in touch with some of the nurses, name starts with C. Yes i'm having a heck of a time trying to locate other decent PM offices. Life has been rough the last 8 months with pain. There are days I have to force a smile on my face for my 9 year old- it kills me that my son can look at my face & say mommy im sorry ur in so much pain....he says I understand u can't play with me right now, BREAKS MY HEART. I have tried to get all my records from the Dr but no luck & being that i paid cash there are no insurance records for other treatments & inj's. he gave me. I Live in Stroudsburg. Hope ur doing well.

Hi Brian,
I have concidered methadone for pain management but after researching I found that it causes extreme weight gain which I really dont want, not only vanity but it will cause more pain on knees, back ect. u could try a suboxone Dr for methadone. Dr Levinson in Stroudsburg who accepts all insurance including state insurance.
Dr Kahn who is a pain Management Dr in stbg is a very by the book Dr he also prescibes methadone. He does like to ween patient off opiates as much as can be tolerated 1st then goes from there. Ive heard he is very compassionate as well. But he will NOT prescribe 30 mg oxy at all.
Does ur current Dr prescribe opiates besides methadone? Maybe u could discreetly give me hints or something of ur Drs name as i am currently looking for a good PM Dr.
Not sure where u live, how many miles from Stbg.
Keep me posted on what u decide to do & so smart of u to start looking for new dr due to him retiring in a few years

There's a health meeting tomorrow 5/23 @ 9:30am Irvis office room G50, its open to the public. It would be cool if u were able to attend. I hope this info helps. I thinks is awesome u want to write them a letter, i have often thought about doing it too. Now that i looked up the info i think i will! Thanks for the push. Plz keep me posted on your outcome with this & ur situation. I hoped it's not frowned upon that I just posted names & address of Congress.

Carmine, that's REALLY very friendly & compassionate of u. Wow! I never had any problems there or anywhere for that matter. The dr i saw for 6 years prior to the one we're talking about, well he called Dr AG to personally refer me; said I was a model patient lol. Thank u so very much.

I know crazy hard.... Someone mentioned a Dr they used to go to in my area but didn't know how to spell his name, said he stopped going bc he moved too far. I'm gonna try and research the spelling online & maybe ill get lucky.....sigh.

As for me im still in my crappy situation.
Made a few more calls with zero luck.
This rainy day not only has my joints flaired up but im so depressed, just want to crawl under covers and sleep for a month. My fingers are so swollen i had to pry my wedding band off with vasiline this morning.

Hi all, Tara I might have some luck with a Dr. in Wingap that the Dr I'm with now knows. If that doesn't work out I'll just have to keep pushing forward like the rest of us on here. It's not fair. There is a place in Stroudsburg called The Neurology and Pain Management Associates or something close like that, it's been so long since I've been there. But they have a few Pain Drs in there. It's too far for me but maybe closer for others on here.

NIKKI, i found a doc that i have to pay 55 a month. Said they give out pain meds but seems like he is a joke. I had to pay 75 upfront first visit last week and still no meds. He told me he needs my record well gave it to him and still he has excuse of he havent gotten around to it. Bull to me. Here i am in oain till im about to cry. Dont know what to do at tbis point

Q, Hi. $55 a month is wonderful!!! I used to $215 a month! And I'd pay it again too if my Dr wa as still around! He gave me 180 to 210 30's a month! Anyway $55 pr/month is really good. I hope u get what ur looking for next appt. Does he give any reasons why he hasnt given u meds yet?

Unfortunately not. Still stuck in the same predicament. Not sure where to turn. Still in pain every day. Still depressed, drained physically/mentally/emotionally, anxiety in full force. It's not fun. I hate the self medicate, but when youre in constant pain for days on end, it gets to a point where you have to do what you have to do. Its def a burden though. I was wondering about the Urgent Care clinics. I read that some of them do offer pain management. Does anyone have any info or experience with them? If anyone currently goes this route, can you give a little signal along with maybe a brief review? Hope you all are doing ok. I truly know where all of you are coming from, and it's not a place that anyone should have to be in.
