Doctors In Pa That Prescribe Oxycodone (Page 24)

I need a doctor in the pgh area. I have had 11 back surgeries, chronic pain and anxiety. My pcp gave me a month to find one... Please help.

Antman - from the sounds of it we may see the same doc as the one i go to owns all his practices as well, so it's a very good possibility, however i am not in the northeast Philadelphia area, i attend the one in Scranton, but if it's the same doc he does have practices out there! Is he a foreign doc? If yes, then it's the same one! He's not very compassionate but i will not complain because i'm getting relief.

Carmine - I asked about extended release long lasting meds and he gave me oxycontin, however my insurance wouldn't cover it even with a preauthorization, which i think is bulls***, and they said i would have to try ms contin (morphine) first. That is doing absolutely nothing for me and the doc seems to be getting upset because it's never in my system. I told him i wind up taking a few extra here and there because i am such severe pain and i am not getting relief. I asked him to just take me off the extended release meds all together and see if he can give me one more 15 mg oxycodone a day or if he can up me to 20s. He's been hesitant and said he has some sort of scale of chart he has to follow and he would have to talk to the "drunk doc". I don't wanna push it, but the morphine is worthless garbage and i usually run short of 15s about 3 days early. So he either needs to up the strength or the quantity. I'm going to try again when i go for my appt this coming week, but i may have better luck now with the "drunk doc". Other than that hope all is well with you!

Well I'm glad ur getting some relief... What's funny is the drunk doctor told me that the other doctor would be willing to up my dose. We were suppose to have a consultation with the guy u see, but it never happened... Then some how I failed for illicit drugs two months ago which was ridiculous.. I told the doc from the beginning that someone gave me drugs like 10 yrs ago and I f***ed him up.... I said that's the only time I did it. The labs cut off number is 10 for opioids and I had a 12... Well he musta saw the sincerity in my face when he told me I failed for it.... He said we will see what the new test comes back with... N it came back that I didn't do it..

My first doc use to use that lab but changed because they always had false readings.. So all in all I guess I'm feeling a little better but the doses I take now are way lower, but it has been giving me relief but ur right the morphine extended release are s***. They don't do nutting for me either, but u gotta make sure u always have it in ur system even if u have to suffer to make sure u have them when u go in and after a couple visits of u having it in ur system, maybe he will change his tone... If I could have 1 or 2 more 30s a day n maybe try a different extended relief I think I can manage the pain... I guess I will see. Good luck everyone.. And I hope you have been keeping your word with me and not giving out that info.... You happened to get lucky u were the last person on here I helped... B4 I was told I shouldn't n e more.... Actually I did bring a close friend there, he goes this fri with me. He just had another major surgery so I'm just trying to help him also.

@Nikki- I agree 100% the MS Contin is worthless, completely worthless no matter the strenght. And u would think they woukd be happy ur asking to get Off it! They have to know it sucks! I wish u all the luck on ur next appt. *can I suggest u asking for Opana along with ur oxy 15 regime? Opana is a wonderdul long acting pain med imo.

Scranton isnt very far from me, i think i will start researching pain mngt Drs there too

Nikki, to me he's compassionate because he's liberal and he does write u the medicine...he writes me the medicine (our much needed narcotics)....our foreign md is compassionate in that way.... Also once and a blue moon if u mess up on a drug panel with something simple (nothing major like illegal drugs)....he'll let it slide.... That's compassionate....but i know somebody that came up positive for illicit drugs and she was discharged immediately.... He also has to be strict in situations but that's not really his demeanor. He doesn't say much but he generally means well. I'm telling u nikki u will never find somebody like him....ill promise u that. He could charge so much more but doesn't.... He didn't run away back in the day when there was a shake up.... He's in it for the long run... He's compassionate in that way...he may not be able to spend a half an hour like other doctors in his practice but he'll lend an ear when it comes to the main reason you're there..PAIN MANAGEMENT... They dont make em like him anymore nikki. I pray every night for him and the practices...we need our meds...

ms contin is worthless no matter what the stregnth it sucks....methadone is better than ms contin and thats pretty sad...

Antman - yep same doc, haha! How long have you been going there if you don't mind me asking? I just started seeing him in December! He is a good doctor, I just need him to adjust my meds. Hopefully that's coming soon!

Nikki - since december of 2014 that's almost 3 years.....I have to see him every other friday every 2 weeks in either the willowgrove practice or the montgomeryville practice. Since he's the owner he goes to each practice literally one day per week, maybe 2 and that's it. If u dont catch him u get somebody else.... And that isn't always good... A lot of times they wanna cut you or scold u on your u/a levels.... I bring the girls food and 24 packs of spring water and coffee all the time.... Some of my family members get pain management from him also... Just one actually... My dad and mom just see him occasionally for other things unrelated to pain management. We bring him a lot of income but in my eyes he deserves it, he's not a coward.

I was hoping you may be able to share ur doc s info I have records and even the guy I see now feels bad but gives me what bare minimum he can give me and it not helping at all he even said to try to find another dr. Because he's been serviced by the dea and now he only does inj. Which I can't have anymore. Please just post the info on here it would be greatly appreciated since it seems like they block out email address.

Hi Carmine, i was reading thru old ppats hoping to find some luck.....anyway i read this post about ur nj PM doc fpr 6 years.....i had a nj pm fpr almost 3 yrs and he lost his license and gave NO referls!! Was it a man Dr right over the Pa/NJ bridge 1st name beging with A last name G?

Hey people, question for anyone who can answer....
If i were to Try to go to pain management at a Clinic........is that possible? I assumed clinics were more like Urgent care type places...am i wrong? Any tips, hints and/or help is greatly appreciated. Thanks all ??

I've thought about checking out the doctor you recommended, KM. I heard he's pretty good overall. How often does he ask for U/A's? Also, do you remember if you had to take a test BEFORE he prescribed you anything? Or was it after being RX'd that he would perform the UA's? Just curious. Hope to hear from you soon! Thanks again

I don't go to him anymore but while i was going to him it was a decent practice. Your first UA you will get on your second visit, as they want to make sure that whatever the perscribe you initially is in your system. They may give you garbage on your first visit, but don't worry, it's just until they verify that your indeed taking your meds. Otherwise they give random UA'S, i was going to him for approx 3 years and I got about 4-5 the entire time I was there. So I'd say only about once a year. Which is very good considering the doc i go to now does one every single visit. However I must warn you that at KM'S practice you are also subjected to random pill counts, which was how i eventually wound up being discharged. I didn't get any in all the years I was going to him and one day they called me in to report to the office for just that and I came up short. As far as the phones they are a busy office, you just have to keep trying. I don't think the answering service gives them all their messages though, and if they do, they don't call people back, so just keep trying every half hour until you get someone, honestly. It sucks but that's what you have to do. If Chrissy or Amy pick up the phone then you have reached the actual office. Also, they are closed on Monday's. Good Luck SWISH and TARA.

Also DEREK, we do not disclose doctors name on here as once our clinics get over run with a crazy amount of patients they either close down or start kicking people out for the next person that walks in the door. It's very sad but we are all unfortunately replaceable. However my friend ...we do try to help each other to the best of all our abilities. If you scroll around and dig a few pages deep you will find some hints and answers and the rest is up to you my friend.

Thanks Nikki. One more question if u don't mind, whsy type of records does this dr require? My last pm dr is gone snd ive tried to gey my records with zero luck. Im sure i can get pharmacy/script records, although ive been off pm's sense September.
P.s. how'd ur last appt go? Were u able to get increased?

I saw ur message and by what u said it sounds like the doc I was going to. It's a shame he got shut down.... I was with him 6 YRS, he was the most amazing doc I ever met... He was like my therapist, my pm doc and my friend... Like when my dad had a heart attack and died in my arms I tried to give him cpr for 10 mins while waiting for ems... And when I went to my next appointment with him which was like 2 or 3 days after my dad passed, n when he called me back n saw my face he said hold on... And went into the waiting room n told all the patients I'm sorry but I have an emergency and I'm going to be awhile, so sorry.. And that day was the most packed I ever saw that waiting room.. And he came back to talk to me and I had a meltdown. He spent like 2 hrs talking to me, hugging me and counseling me.... IF IT WASN'T FOR HIM THAT DAY I PROBABLY WOULD'VE KILLED MYSELF... Where r u from and are u having issues finding a pain management doctor?

I also need help! I live in the Allentown area. I have a good record with my pain Dr. In Jersey. Needless to say I'm tired of driving to Jersey every month for my scripts plus my Dr. is in his sixties, so I don't know how much longer he'll be doing his job till he retires. So I'm trying to a pm in the Allentown Pa ahead of time. Let me tell you it's a joke. You give them your records before you even get to see the on Dr. I have osteonecrosis of all joints, no lie! But anyways I did this with three PM's in the area. All denied me because they can't heal me and they don't want a guy they'll have to write a opiate script for the rest of his life. It's not my fault I'm like this. It's also probably because I take a good hefty dose of my meds. But it work and gives me 4 hours out of the day , most the time to be mobile. And that means alot to me and they think I'm some kind of junk or something. I'm really getting worried I won't find nothing. I'll end up dieing going through the with draw I have to go through. I tried it ended up in ER with heart skipping beats from the lousy detox in Philly I went to. Never again!!! You know if they don't want us on it they better start bringing out these technologies and cure treatments they hide from us. Meaning big Pharma Corp. So could someone? please give me some advice. It should against the law the way they decide if there going to take you or not.
