Doctor In Pittsburgh Pa That Prescribes Xanax Or Klonopin (Page 3)
(Newest replies first)

Every doc I've met with here in Pittsburgh Pa will only take cash if they prescribe you xanax.. Very unethical but since I have insurance I would like to find a doctor to prescribe me the meds I need. I would take either although I like the Klonopin better, xanax cause my depression to worsen after I take them... Anyone know of any Psychiatrists that will take my insurance and prescribe me meds?

Sorry for your son. While my mom used to share a few Valium, make sure you don't give him medicine and then just stop, that goes for both of you as this medicine features withdrawal problems. Make sure you have extras, especially if sharing!

It’s a ridiculous system that labels you an addict simply for wanting the relief to your suffering.

Re: James (# 17) Expand Referenced Message

May I ask who the psychiatrist is that will help me? I don't abuse benzos. When I had my psychiatrist 3 years ago I took them as prescribed. He moved to far away and stopped taking my insurance. I stayed off the Xanax for over 3 years. But I was very miserable not a sociable person. Always on edge. I legitimately need a psychiatrist who will understand that this medication is the only way for me to live like a normal person.

I was reading your post and was asking if you found a psychiatrist yet? I am looking as well. My psychiatrist moved far away and no longer accepted my insurance. I was on .05 xanax for years. And the last 3 years of not having them i'm a mess. I am desperately in need of a new psychiatrist, i feel so terrible. I hate that i am anxious all the time. If u can help me out in any way i would be grateful. Thank all of you for your replies.

Re: EDDY (# 95) Expand Referenced Message

Actually supposedly Florida is one the most heavily cracked down on states today for controlled medicine. It really is not though. They did get rid of pill mills (those doctors simply prescribe Suboxone now) you can still see a regular everyday Psychiatrist in Florida and they do prescribe anti-anxiety much more commonly in my observations. Almost everyone I knew was on Xanax, Klonopin, Valium or Ativan and I know lawyers, doctors, contractors, major newspaper editors, morticians people of status yet also just everyday people. In the Pittsburgh area it's almost taboo to even get a second opinion on your mental health. It would seem that in Florida they simply don't live with the same fear that Psychiatrists here in the Pittsburgh area do which even here if you have legitimate need to take them, have a medical history of taking it and the money and time to continue seeking second opinions then there is probably someone who will help you out. Its sad that even on here no one will name anyone making this thread absolutely useless other than discussing the issue of why we are treating schedule 4 drugs like they are schedule 1. We have the right to discuss legitimate medical problems and trying to find healthcare providers who are more open minded without spending thousands of dollars yet the only doctor named has already been shut down and the Staunton Clinic has a new policy as of 2014 they don't prescribe any controlled medicine! A system like this I think only will make the Opioid Epidemic worse. S***, I know many people with Opioid Use Disorder and a benzodiazepine is all they needed to stop them from obsessing! Oh well I'm just glad that ultimately I have accepted that I cannot afford to look around and that coming off them may just be beneficial to my quality of life? Having a degree in Psychology, I can imagine that for a new patient a doctor or PA/NP will probably want to see how you behave off of them as they actually work that well. I'm just hoping that as I go through coming off of this I find that I no longer need them to cope as I feel like keeping an open mind to alternative treatments and remaining adaptable is about the best way to deal with what I consider a severely flawed medical system. Is what it is

Re: the335 (# 94) Expand Referenced Message

Because Florida practically legalized Pain Meds for a few years around 2010 @ Pain Pill Mills in hundreds of Strip Malls, I understand obtaining Benzo's and other addictive controlled pills is virtually impossible these days in the South. Who lives in Florida?

Re: Mr Glass (# 93) Expand Referenced Message

That's well said and the way things in this area have become are rather Draconian in practice. Only took it for the past 7 or 8 years but let's just take people off without even wanting to look at their past medical records! I would simply think moving back to Florida would be a better option if you suffer with anxiety although I only saw that one doctor it was never an issue there. Up here in Pittsburgh area? This is like a different country altogether. Problem is when are we as a country going to take an approach that's more aimed towards harm reduction instead of worrying about authority? This sucks I still have not found anyone I'm sure there are probably many Psychs and doctors in Pittsburgh itself who will prescribe lower dose anxiety meds if one has $300 to $400 to spend on the initial visit plus $250 each month for a follow up until you get lucky enough to be put on for every 3 months. They treat this stuff like it's just illegal altogether..and who are they to say what I choose to put into my body to begin with? Uggh frustrated I finally found a NP who will "slowly" take me off my medication and so far it's awful but tolerable.

Re: THE GOOD DOC (# 4) Expand Referenced Message

Doctors only seem to care about their vacation homes and what they can get away with. Not actually helping people unless they know them personally. Most hospitals cover their asses and go to bat for them to in order to prevent their hospitals being drug through the mud. Rather than actually look at patient's records, they go off their gut from a 30 second conversation instead of looking at a patient's record for med seeking behavior. Doctors only advocate for themselves these days... not for their patients with pain/depression/or anxiety. It's a shame we have to look for a scumbag who wants money and pay cash until he gets arrested instead of doctors doing their jobs and fighting back for their patients who may actually need meds. If you cant prescribe with transparency, who's the scumbag with secrets?

Re: Tricia (# 51) Expand Referenced Message

Hi I know you posted here years ago but I too just moved back to the Mercer/Butler county line. Would you mind letting me know who you were seeing as I am shocked you found someone in Butler my first visit with a NP went terribly and they just want to take me off the medicine and have no actual reasons. Not one to be named trust me I asked. Please and thanks!
