the #60 Glipizide/ metformin are 5-500 mg. and the #60 Glipizide are 5 mg. Why would you take 1 tablet of the Glipizide metformin 500 mg and 1 Glipizide 5 mg? do they balance each other out or help stabalize sugar levels? thank you for responding. ## metformin and glipizide are two seperate diabetic medications. the metformin has a small amount of glipizide in it - and the rest that you need is supplied by the 5mg pill. also, the 5mg glipizide should be taken 30 min before a meal, the 500 mg metformin WITH a meal. you should also be receiving vitamin B12 supplements, as the metformin decreases your levels.

used for treatment of diabetes ## just want to ask im not on diabetic pills my blood sugar goes down to low , my a1c is 6.4 does this pill biada work to keep it in safe levels ? saw it on the news said it is from lizard spit ? lol ## The correct name is Byetta, it is not approved to treat Type I and it is not a pill, it is an injection. Like any other drug, it works differently for different people, only you and your doctor can decide what medication is best for you. ## By the way, this is also meant to treat people with HIGH sugar levels, not low ones, it would make them lower and could create dangerous problems.

the pill is 9 mm in diameter, white, and has L1 stamped on one side of it. I took it accidentally thinking it was my ACTOS (it is very slightly larger than ACTOS 15 mg) ## I need to know what that pill is also ## Is that the complete imprint from the tablet?

Prescriped for diabetis type 2 with actos. I was looking to gain weight with a different drug than metformin. ## Most of the side effects are the same as they are for Metformin, except for nausea and cold symptoms, which were more prominent with Januvia. Weight gain, however, is not a typical side effect of either one.

I've taken Januvia for several months and have developed depression and other side effects. I stopped taking the drug and wonder how long before it is out of my system. ## Januvia has a very short half-life, only 6 to 8 hours, this refers to the time it takes for the drug to reach 50% of its dosage in your body. That said, it probably takes less than a day to be removed from your system. However, since you were taking it for several months and if you stopped taking it abruptly, you may also be experiencing some minor withdrawal symptoms, which could last for several days.

urinary tract antibiotic ## my 84 yr old mother in law was prescribed microbid for uti. she has hbp and diabetes and is taking meds for those and for thyroid. just read blurp about microbid only if you have no other conditions. should she be on this? ## That is actually something that is entirely up to her doctor, if she has regular appointments so her conditions are being regularly monitored, they might have decided that the benefits to her outweigh the risks of taking the medication.

Biata curb appetite pill? ## If you have obtained this from your doctor then you should have a dosing schedule. If you obtained this on your own, without a prescription then you need to be aware that this IS NOT INTENDED as an appetite supressant. This is actually a Diabetes med used to help control and lower blood sugar and weight loss for diabetics as they get their sugar levels back under control is a normal side effect. However, if you are not diabetic, it might not help you lose weight and it could also be dangerous to take. . ## i im a diabetic that needs to lose wieght and i think this would help

avandia would cause weight gain. why and how? well, it increases the bodies sensitivity to insulin!! if this happens your body will 'tell' the liver and muscle cells to take in glucose and store it in the form of glycogen, and causing fat cells to take in blood lipids and turn them into triglycerides. I hope this helps, Ive tried to make a rather complicated subject more user friendly lol ## It is not wise to take avandia with any form of insulin or nitrates!!!!!! and IF rapid wieght gain occurs seek medical advise asap!

Diabetes medication ## What is Vyetta and how is it used for diabetes. ## Did you mean Byetta? Byetta is an injectable drug to help those with diabetes with weight loss and is by prescription only. You can look it up on the web ## Sandi is correct, the name is Byetta. Here's a link to the monograph to find more information on it: ## This was reccomeded to me by my doctor. He said it was based on gila monster saliva and reduced your bodys digestion process. In my case i became violently ill after the first half dose and could not eat anything solid for ywo weeks. Dioc said my reaction to it was a side effect was reported by 2% of users. I know of 3 other people who sucessfully use this and have had spectacular results both with weight control and lowering blood sugar.

What vitamins are in Metanx? I already take a multi-vitamin. Am I now taking an over-load of vitamins? ## As to vitamin overload, you would need to discuss that with your doctor. Did they know you were taking a multi-vitamin when they prescribed this?

is anyone having lung problems with exubera ## AGREED ## Here's the site with information on Exubera: Exubera Click Here They also post a serious warning on the site about possible lung problems: EXUBERA may lower your lung function, so you will need to take a breathing test before you start treatment and, from time to time, as you keep taking EXUBERA. You should not take EXUBERA if you have an unstable or poorly controlled lung disease (such as unstable or poorly controlled asthma, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease) or if you smoke, start smoking, or quit smoking less than 6 months ago. You should not take EXUBERA if you are under 18 years of age or if you are allergic to insulin or any of the inactive ingredients in EXUBERA.

I took januvia off and on--because of the side effects--for 3 months. Then I suffered renal failure from the drug. My physician never warned me of this and never tested my kidneys though I have had high creatinine levels in the past. I want to know who is responsible for this: the doctor, the drug co. or myself? ## There is no way for any of us to answer that and we would be remiss to even try. You should have been given a monograph listing some basic side effects when you got your prescription filled. If you are wondering if you have some sort of case or something, consult a medical malpractice lawyer and they will be better able to advise you. ## I just started this drug Januvia last night. Now, I'm a bit worried. Is the renal faliure reversible? ## margosparkle, not everyone will...
