However, I would like to find out whether the Vildagliptin 50 mg tablest can also be cut in half and taken regularly at the 25 mg dosage level to keep my blood sugar within normal range? ## Hello, Kondodi! How are you doing? What have your blood sugar levels been? Your dosage really depends on that, because if the medication is the only thing lowering it, it could go back up, if you lower the dose. Have you consulted your doctor?
What is the difference between metformin hcl 850 & metformin her 1000? ## Hi Guzman, To answer your question Metformin HCL stands for "Hydrochloride", which from what I could gather, is used as a base to make the pills water-soluble. I haven't come across any specific details on what "HER" would stand for after the drug name. Are you sure it doesn't just say "ER" for extended release? Other than the obvious difference in the dosage you mentioned, the presence of Hydrochloride appears to be the primary difference between the two tablets. Outside of that, there might also be a different set of inactive ingredients (binders/fillers) used. Although, one would have to look up the pill ID in order to get more information on that. You can learn more about th...

Doctor prescribed 3 days Clavam 625. I take a lot of water and do not use public toilet. What type of infection can this be and What can be the possible cause? Can it be related to Sex life? iv very recently changed doctor's due to moving. can my new doctor stop my prescription 600mg of pre-gablin? ## I don't know why he would. This is an anti-convulsant medication that was found to help diabetic nerve pain. Strange. Ask him why.
I have a round white metformin pill with a large or capitol H and the number 102 is it 500 mg. I have always had the oblong pill ## Hello, Firechief! How are you? Yes, this is listed as being a 500mg Metformin tablet, it's manufactured by Heritage Pharmaceuticals. It is normal for your pharmacy to sometimes provide you with medication from a different manufacturer, because whichever one they have in stock will depend on who was offering the cheapest price, when they needed to restock their supply. It is how they keep prices as low as possible for customers without insurance. Is there anything else I can help with?

Updated in MetforminI have bitten my tongue a few months ago and my work had me travel out of the US. I have seen a dentist which prescribed me Diclo K 50 mg 3 times a day, it did reduce the swelling temporarily but the infection is still with me. I get ear aches and swelling of the gums still, where I am talking more than 300-400 mg per day just to ease the pain, nothing else seems to work I won't be able to get to see my regular dentist for another month and 1/2, I have tried all kinds of remedies and still nothing is working, any suggestions would be great as I am continuing to take this drug and increase dosage as well, and am worried about my diabetes and liver function. ## Hello, Faxi! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. This is just a nonsteroidal anti-inflammato...
is there any problem in taking "NEUROKIND" medicine when there's no diabetes...? will it damages the nerves or blood vessels... ## Hello, India! How are you? This is just a nutritional supplement, so it can be taken by anyone as long as their doctor says it is safe for them to do so. It is often given to diabetics, because the B vitamins are believed to help support nerve health and function, but everyone needs these vital nutrients. Is there anything else I can help with?
Hi. Please tell me how to take Voglistar GM 2mg tablets? Is it supposed to be taken after breakfast or before? ## Hello, Sachi! How are you? Unless your doctor has instructed you otherwise, it should be taken just before your meal. That way it has time to start working when you are digesting your meal and would be having the most blood sugar fluctuations. Is there anything else I can help with?
My blood sugar levels were 150F & 266PP while I was taking Glibenclamide 5mg + Metformin 500mg along with Vildagliptin 50mg. Now that my sugar levels decreased to 70F & 96 PP, should I continue to take Vildagliptin 50mg? Please advise. ## Hello, Kondodi! How are you? What has your doctor advised? They are the best person to help you decide what is safe and appropriate for you. Are you experiencing problematic symptoms from those low numbers? ## Dear Verwon, Thanks for your reply. You are right that doctors are the best ones to advise better but still the purpose of wring thoguh this form was to recheck the advise given by my doctor as sometimes one can give get better tips than the doctor given as they might have experienced such situation and got remedy. Hope you got the point.
Hello, my doctor changed my medicine from metformin sr 500 mg to Voglibose 0.2 & pioglitazone 7.5 both at night. previously my FBS during metformin was in the range of 100-120. but after change it is crossing 120. i want to know the possible reasons behind this. is the both medicine not effective to my body than metformin? ## Hello, Chetan! How are you? Yes, it is possible that the Metformin was the better medication for you. Not every mediation works for ever person that tries it. Why did your doctor have you switch?
I regularly take Fortamet 500 mg ER and about 3 years ago tried the lesser expensive Metformin 500 mg ER. The Metformin did not work nearly as well as Fortamet. 1) Why would that be? 2) Are there assistance programs to help offset the high cost of the brand Fortamet? Thank you! ## Hello, Lindy! How are you? There are some generics that are osmotic, this means that precise testing and formulating is done to ensure that they match very closely with the name brand, but that does not apply to all of them. Basically the cheaper a generic gets, the more leeway is taken, thus you may have gotten one that was still time released, but had enough differences to keep it from working well for you, especially if your body was used to the name brand. And unfortunately, I am not finding any assistance...
what is the osm type of metformin er can't find anything on it and my NP can't either except it costs very much ## OSM is used to designate it as being osmotic, it's used to make sure that you get a maximum extended/time released formulation of the medication. That's why it costs more, it's not a typical generic, because it doesn't have the usual leeway that they are allowed to have, it is tested more rigorously and adheres to much stricter release requirements. Is there anything else I can help with?
WHY SHOULDN'T PEOPLE OVER 80 TAKE METFORMIN? PLEASE GIVE AS MANY OF THE REASONS INVOLVED AS POSSIBLE. THANK YOU ## Elderly people can be much more sensitive to the effects of the medication, which could cause dangerously low blood sugar levels. In many cases, doctors will have them stop using these types of medications and switch to something such as insulin, so they can monitor their blood sugar and make easier dosage adjustments, as needed. Additionally, elderly people can be more susceptible to renal damage and failure, while taking oral antidiabetic medications. Are there any other questions or concerns?
Is there a time frame that Dentist or dentures office have to send in a prior approval to Medicaid claim. I went to have new dentures sense mine broke, I went to denture place and they waited 15 days before they sent Medicaid information for a prior approval ( PA). I am a diabetic and cant eat right and I told them I was a diabetic when I went in to be seen. thaks for any help you may give me. ## Hello, Mark! How are you? I am not familiar with Medicaid regulations, but going by the current government regulations regarding dentures, I doubt that they did anything wrong. The way things are right now, regardless of your medical condition, dentures are not considered essential to your health. Our government considers them to just be cosmetic, because you can still eat without them, it may ...
I would like to comment on Metanex... for me it was a miracle drug.... I have type II diabetes and had "drop foot" .. and had to buy a brace for my right foot because when I walked I "slapped" down my right foot.... a Dr. recommended Metanx and after 1 week of taking the drug, I haven't had to use the brace once.... my only problem is that a generic is no longer available and the Metanx costs $90.00 for a 30 day supply... I can't afford to take it at that cost... how can I get a discount? ## Hi Mildred, I work with Metanx and am very pleased to read how well you are doing on Metanx and I have some good news for you, If you are interested on how to save on your Metanx prescription, contact Brand Direct Health at 1-866-331-6440. Try this option and let me know how ...
KNOXVILLE tn dr named dr. Sarlo on Asheville hwy ## I posted about this doctor because he doesn't take insurance and I thought the laws changed on that? I called him and it is $400.00 for you first appt and I can't remember how much after that. The weird thing is, he asked me to bring my insurance cards in and when I asked why since he doesn't take insurance he replied back in a rude way saying " it's my office I can do what I want to do!" I have diabetic neuropathy, lupus, and fibromyalgia. I'm needing a doctor that will write for a long acting med and something for breakthrough pain. I have been taking OTC meds for the last few years for the pain and its no longer working. I've also heard about a family doctor on Kingston pike that treats pain but can not...
Walmart in US is d/c this brand Sandoz Metformin GP 124. Pl. let me know if you are aware of a pharmacy which still has this brand. thanks ## Hello, Minuma! How are you? It's not that a pharmacy really discontinues carrying any brand, but that they will carry whichever one was offering the cheapest price, when they needed to restock their supply. Thus, if another company underbid Sandoz, they are now the one that Wal-Mart carries. However, you can try asking them if they can order it back in for you. What is your general location? That would enable someone to suggest a pharmacy if they know of one that has it in stock in your area.
the Dr. says when I turn 80 yrs old (4 months) he will stop prescribing Glimperide and put me on insulin. Does that make any sense? ## Hello, Bill! How are you? Yes, it actually does make sense. There have been cases of dangerously low blood sugar levels occurring in elderly patients taking oral antidiabetic medications. Thus, putting you on insulin helps avoid the problem by letting you more precisely adjust the dose, if necessary. Are there any other questions or concerns?
