I have prediabetes and was prescribed metformin 500 1x a day. Got along for almost a year now having all kinds of gastric problems, pain nausea etc. also have vomiting and diarrhea once every 2 to 3 months. Now trying 1/2 a pill. Would extended release help and is the vomiting occasionally related? ## Hello, Deejoe! How are you? Metformin can cause gastric side effects, it's fairly common for it to do so. Other side effects may include dizziness, flatulence, stomach pain and hypoglycemia. As to the occasional vomiting and diarrhea, if they are occurring that infrequently, they most likely aren't related to the medication. Are you on any other medications? Have you changed your dietary intake, at all? There are many things that could potentially cause such symptoms. How are you d...

Updated in MetforminCigna refuses to pay for Metanx because they said it was just a vitamin and can be bought over the counter? Is that true? ## I have called Pam Lab about their medication, Metanx. I received a reply from them. It is a prescription medication and can only be purchased with a prescripton from a doctor and bought at a Parmacy. It is considered a Medical Food. It is not a vitamin or dietary supplement. ## 'neuropathytreatmentgroup' also has a non-prescription version of all the vitamins in Metanx. I do not work for either company. ##
I was prescribed JANUMET XR 1000/50 MG 2 TABLETS in the morning before breakfast and 2mg GLIMEPIRIDE after breakfast. I was suggested bya doctor to take GLYCOMET GP1 twice daily instead of JANUMET XR. should I continue to take GLIMEPIRIDE because i read that GP1 contains 1 mg of GLIMEPIRIDE ## Hello Rao! How are you? Yes, you should double check with the doctor, but it seems that he meant to replace your other medications with the Glycomet GP1, since it contains Metformin and Glimepiride. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, flatulence and low blood sugar. What are your normal sugar levels? Were they not in control with the Janumet XR?

Has anyone seen the marketing information presented by Sanofi? ## @Cbondfrac, Sanofi doesn't appear to list anything about Afrezza on their webpage, so I'm not sure where one might go to find the specific type of marketing information you're seeking from them. But from what I've seen online, it looks like several other sites do list details on Afrezza. Apparently it's reported to be a type of "rapid acting inhaled insulin", prescribed to improve glycemic control in patients who are challenged with diabetes mellitus. Here's a PDF from the manufacturer with some additional prescribing information: mannkindcorp.com/Collateral/Documents/English-US/Afrezza_PrescribingInformation.pdf I hope this helps answer your question! ## David- Thank you for the informatio...

Why the difference in price ? Which is better tablet or capsule?Do they both perform equally? ## Hi John, If you ask me, I think the difference in price is directly related to the cost it takes to produce tablets vs capsules. Please don't quote me on this, but from what I've read, tablets are reportedly much more cost effective to produce since they allow the manufacturer to pack the most material into however much space they need; whereas with capsules their space is limited. Also depending on the type of substance, drug companies may use expensive encapsulation techniques to keep the contents fresh and stable. Have you tried one or the other yet to see how you react?
