I lost my ex son-in-law on 1/20 -- he was murdered. A week later my sister dies of brain cancer. I have pyloric spasm which is exasperated by stress. I went to the doctor the day my sister passed away and proceeded to explain the deep loss I felt in my family. To which she replies "these things happen and you just need to deal with it. No compassion, no I'm sorry for your loss. No 'how can I help you deal with the stress'. The last time I went in I filled out a mental form which asked the question how many days a week do you feel like you would be better off dead and I said 7. When I tried to explain that my life is compromised by extreme pain and constant nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea, she told me that she does not put herself in her patient's shoes. Needless to sa...
4 REPLIES UpdatedBack is out again. One shot of cortisone will get me back to normal within 30-45 minutes. No one will help me. Is there any Doctor in PA that will administer one shot of cortisone? Lehigh Valley area. ## There is no proof that cortisone, triamcinolone, dexamethasone, or any steroid is a benefit when injected into spine. That is why FDA has black box warnings on the drug use in this way. The manufacturers do not recommend using it via epidural route. You should Google the Safe Use Initiative Program by FDA and it’s work on Epidural steroid drugs. Also, FDA issued a Drug safety communication in November 2014 that warns patients on the dangers and risks of these procedures. ## While these shots have successfully helped many people, the other poster is correct regarding their warnings...
2 REPLIES Updatedi need to know what type of medication this is.It came from DR ## Sorry, I cannot find any information on this. What country were they prescribed in? Does anyone else have any information on this medication? ## Reumisone is a medication used as a cortisone in patients with reumatic attacks. I've used it twice by severe reumatic pains, where non-steroid medication failed to help. Indeed, it is prescribed in the Dominican Republic. What the active agent is, I don't know yet. i'll try to find out. ## My friend had it prescibed for gout also in the DR.Said it worked great. I too would like more info. ## For anybody who needs to know the consistance of Reumisone: Monofenil Butasona 200 mg + Dexametazona 0.375 mg + Hidroxido de Aluminio 60MG ## I have osteoarthritis. should I take...
6 REPLIES Updatedswelling of joints ## This medication is unavailable in the U.S. and I am sorry to say that other countries do not regulate their prescription drugs as strictly as the FDA does. That said, finding information on them is very difficult, since there are no databases which list them all, like there are for U.S. prescription drugs. The only thing I can suggest is that you try asking your doctor or pharmacist for more information. ## I have problem of getting small dots on my skin (on my under foot) and palm and some water bubbles seen. after that the main skin peel off. it repeats. ## Reply to Rojilal - I had exactly the same problem with my left palm only. Very itchy and sore. Diagnosed by a dermatologist as dyshydrotic eczema. Cured by treatment with ultraviolet light and cortisone cream....
4 REPLIES UpdatedHalf a year ago I developed Lichen Planus. As the disease progressed and the rashes were all over my body, my doctor inj. me with a 20mg cortisone shot. And also for my chronic back pain I have to take Meloxicam and Baclofen. What are the side effects of taking these medications? Thank you. ## The NIH and FDA warn that you may experience more side effects than usual, which could include nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, headache, fluid retention, and weight changes. However, if the shot was given months ago, it should no long play a role, so the issues would be due to the Meloxicam, and Baclofen. Have you received another shot, since?
1 REPLY Updatedfor chest congestion flu sumptoms, possible asthma. ## In the pollen season I have very bad eczema in my face, swollen eyes, elephant man skin etc. When it is so bad that I cant handle the itching anymore I get a diprospan shot. In stand relieve. After two days the skin of my face is smooth and soft, no redness, swelling etc. The diprospan normally helps for 4 weeks (that’s the first shot in the season) but I noticed that I get used to it because now the itching starts already after 2 weeks. Its written that you can have a shot every week if necessary but I am a bit scared to do that, after all its cortisone. ## I understand your concerns, but unfortunately, with severe allergic reactions, steroids are quite often the only solution. It is normal that after a certain period of time...
43 REPLIES UpdatedHi, I wanted to ask if any of you have had any success or made worse having steroid epidural shots? I had one 8 weeks ago for the first time. I don't have major spine problems but did get thrown out of a car in a wreck. My dx is lupus, hernia, lymphadenopathy with B symptoms, and my foot is numb. Lupus has an entire list of symptoms so I won't engage on that. I'm trying to explain the best of my ability how I feel after my first inj. I have pain at times like it's heart attack symptoms, I have fluid retention, it hurts to move my neck, it hurts to walk and I've currently been unable to run our company in the last 3 weeks. I am so much more weaker too. I know this was to help joint pain but I feel it's set off more problems than I bargained for. Also prior to the ...
28 REPLIES UpdatedI am 93 and have severe back and neck pain. I had back surgery 15 years ago after a back injury causing back and leg pain. After surgery, the leg pain went away but I still suffer from lower back pain. For a long time I would see the doctor who did my surgery every six months and he would give me a mega shot of cortisone on each side of my lower back which helped the back pain. Since then we moved to Orlando about 130 miles away from the doctor, but now I do not drive since I use a walker. My family doctor has given me hydrocodone-acetaminophen 5/325 and it helps some. I also sometimes take tylenol. Is it safe to take it with the other medication? Thanks for any help you can give me. ## No, you should not combine Tylenol with the Hydrocodone/Acetaminophen, since they both contain Acetam...
11 REPLIES UpdatedHi, I am a disabled single mom, and have been seeing a family doctor who prescribes my pain meds along with everything else. I have a progressive disease I was born with in my spine, and 5 other conditions related to this. The reason I would like to stay with a family doctor is that I don't have the time and money to run all over the area and go to doctor's appts everyday of the week. The office I have been going to, I've now been switched to my 3rd student doctor in 3 years and they've done an across the board change in their pain med policy. They don't care that they aren't treating individual patients needs. My quality of life has gone backwards about 8 years and they have cut my medications to half of what I was taking when I was pregnant. I'm on medicare...
4 REPLIES UpdatedI was told I was being injected with cordizone and found out it was 4 cc"s of lidicaine and one other ingredient. Is lidacaine normally in a cordizone shot? ## Hello, Stephen! How are you? Cortisone should contain exactly that, it is classified by the FDA as a corticosteroid that is used to alleviate inflammation. Your doctor may use it with Lidocaine, because it is a local anesthetic that can help relieve pain, until the steroid has a chance to work. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including administration site irritation, redness, swelling and headache. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I am the person who thought he was getting cortisone and found that the injection given was 4 c c's Lidocaine and the mystery ingredient I found was Kenalog? My reac...
4 REPLIES UpdatedDoes anyone know of a good pain management doctor in the Ashland or Klamath Falls OR area? I am new to the area and need to transfer from my current doctor over 1000 miles away as quickly as possible. I am more than welcome to continue treatment with their office, but between the $$ for traveling and the pain the length of the trip would cause I really need to find someone closer. I am willing to travel as far north as Portland OR or as far south as San Francisco CA if needed as long as the doctors are experienced in Chronic Pain management. Everyone I've called has not been taking new patients and has referred me to the next one who has the same issue. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. I have been seeing the same doctor for over 10 years and had no idea it would be this ...
7 REPLIES UpdatedI got a cortisone inj. in my knee because it is bone on bone. That was on July 18th and today is July the 26th. I am very sleepy. Is this normal? ## Yes, that can be a normal side effect, according to the FDA, you may also experience administration site pain, redness, and inflammation. How are you doing, now? Has there been any change? Are you on any other medications? One of my friends had one done the other day and she said it is very painful.
1 REPLY UpdatedWhat is in a cortisone injection besides cortisone? I asked my nurse who was giving it to me for asthma who did not have a label handy! And I stupidly let them give it to me even thought I had a bad reaction to a tetatus shot and I then realized I had no idea what was in it. ## The specific inactive ingredients can vary from manufacturer to manufacturer, so I can't really tell you anything without knowing what company made the one that you received. Can you ask your doctor for more information? Though the other ingredients are considered inactive, it is always possible for someone to still have a reaction to them. What type of reaction did you have to the Tetanus shot? ## What was your bad reaction? I had a horrible reaction that lasted 3 weeks. Pink skin and diminished mental capac...
9 REPLIES UpdatedMy 13 yr old son was given Betaclav 1000mg twice a day and pulmision 20mg twice a day for 5 days for a sinus infection. It is making him feel worse with nausea, headaches and weakness. Must I stop his course or continue? ## Those can be normal side effects of these medications, according to the NIH, but he should continue taking them, unless his doctor instructs otherwise. He may also experience diarrhea, stomach pain, acne, and non-allergic skin rash. How is he doing? Has there been any change? ## He completed the course yesterday and today he seems slightly better although still nausea and lots of mucus in the tubes. His head still feels fuzzy, can feel mucus draining down his throat. Do I need to go back to the doc or you think he is on the mend?

23 REPLIES UpdatedMpathia in RI: I have read so many things and there is definitely something going on behind the scenes. Yes, ALL of you should read the new regulations, because the next time you have an appt. with your PCP or even pain centers ( they are a joke nyway... In RI, "pain Management is considered as Cortisone shots & maybe Lidocaine, etc. These meds become ineffective over time & can cause irepairable damage. What is the alternative? According to the guidelines all people on pain killers are addicts. I am not going to dispute that, however, there is no other options you can take. Tylenol is about all you will get. You MUST read the new guidelines because your doctor is NOT. The regulations are so strict and complicated, doctors prefer to just rid themselves of chronic pain patien...
2 REPLIES UpdatedI cannot take anything with aspirin does cortisone shots have aspirin in it they want to inject me in my knee. ## Hello, Cecilia! How are you? No, Cortisone is the active ingredient, it is a steroid class medication. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including administration site reaction, irritation, redness, and soreness. Is there anything else I can help with?
1 REPLY UpdatedI found Synaleve to be totally ineffective for any pain related to a pinched nerve. In fact, the only medication that seems to work (apart from cortisone) seems to Lyrica. ## Hello, Steve! How are you? Are you still taking Lyrica? The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain. If it worked well for you, then why try something else? Or did your doctor want you to stop taking it?
1 REPLY UpdatedI had a cordizone shot in both knees three months ago and my right knee is bone on bone and the left one has very little cartilage. When the doctor gave me the shot in the left knee he may have hit a bone because I nearly went through the roof. The shots worked for about three days but the left knee feels like he just stuck me yesterday and hurts was worse than the right one that needs to be replaced. Do I replace the knee or get a second opinion? ## Hello, Dennis! How are you? It's actually more likely that he hit a nerve, which would explain the pain you're feeling. It is a risk associated with such shots, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience redness, swelling at the application site and stiffness. And yes, before any surgery, especially such a serious one, you should...
1 REPLY Updateda form of cortisone ## Fludrocortisone is a synthetic corticosteroid with moderate glucocorticoid potency and much greater mineralocorticoid potency. It is used primarily to replace the missing hormone aldosterone in various forms of adrenal insufficiency such as Addison's disease and the classic salt wasting (21-hydroxylase deficiency) form of congenital adrenal hyperplasia. To learn more click on the link below... Do you have any more questions or information to add? Please post back if you do. ## I am being given fludrocort for slow heart beat. Is this a proper medicine for this problem. ## They have given me this exact same drug: reasons as follows~my heart rate is beating extra beats, and I cannot take beta blockers at this time, due to my bp being too low therefore, enter the ...
