What is the difference in the action of Atorvastatin against simvastatin? ## I am taking a new blood pressure pill called "Amlodipine Besylate". On the dosage instructions, it says extra care may be needed in taking this with simvastatin....Is the same caution for Atorvastatin ?JCZCP ## The reaction is unique to just the Simvastatin if taken with the Amlodipine, it can increase the levels of it that are absorbed in your body, which could result in more severe side effects, or a potential overdose. I take Lipitor (now Atorvastatin generic) and Atenelol on a daily basis. I always take pills out of PX. bottles and put into special container away from children. As there are many generics around, I have mixed up my pills and I now have a white oval shaped (almost flat) pill and I do not know for which it is a substitute. Silly I know but if anyone one knows of a substititute for either of these drugs that comes as described above without any markings whatever, please let me know. ## It's not a prescription tablet, all such tablets dispensed in the U.S. have to have imprints to enable their identification. can feofibrates increase my appetite? I find I am always hungry even just after eating. I had a few days when I was late getting my repeat prescription, and had no fenofibrates that my appetite was normal, or is this my imagination? ## Have you discussed it with your doctor? There is a half moon looking marking on one side, and the numbers 635 on the other side - the pill is yellowish white. ## The closest thing which I have found so far (based on the "half moon looking mark") is Lovastatin 40 mg, manufactured by Actavis. Their pill is described as "yellow, round, flat-faced, beveled edge tablet ... Actavis logo on one side; 635 on the other side" [1]. If you see the manufacturer's logo at the top left of their site you will see that it does resemble a half moon. I hope this information helps! Put on statins in 2009 (first Zocor, then Lipitor). In June 2012 had severe episode of heart palpitations and chest tightness (ended up in ER). Had EKG, chest x-ray, blood tests -- all normal. But chest tightness, lightheadedness and fatigue symptoms continued for days. After cardiologist visit (including stress test) found no problems with heart, returned to regular doctor for more blood work. Found nothing... Then based on my own online research I found my symptoms matched up with Lipitor side effects. Stopped Lipitor first week of July... chest tightness and fatigue symptoms are now gone but lightheadedness continues. This is a peach/pink/orange colored pill with C04 on one side and 77 on the other side. ## I located your pill, but the 77 is LL. It's pink and oval shaped, it's Simvastatin 40 mg. I am using Lipikind 10mg and Lipicard 160mg after dinner simultaneously. Is it advisable to do so or are there any potential drug interactions between these two medications? ## They are 2 different medications. Lipikind contains the active ingredient Atorvastatin. And generally no, they aren't used together, because it can increase the risk of developing myopathy and other possibly dangerous side effects. I read you should not be taking this if you have Hep B. What are the reason? I was prescribe this drug but my doctor did not inform me about not taking it if one has Hep B! Prevalite powder is almost impossible for me to swallow. I have tried mixing with water, applesauce and pineapple juice and follow with lots of water. I am wondering if it comes in capsule form; if not, could it be put into a capsule and still have the same effects? I am 64 years old and have had issues with diarrhea for as long as I can remember and the situation has worsened since gall bladder removal two years ago.
