I have been using Cholestyramine powder for a long time for digestive problems. It works great, now my prescription provider will not cover it but will cover Cholestyramine Light. Is there a difference and what is it? ## Cholestyramine Light is just one of a few brand names for Cholestyramine. They do contain the same ingredient, but may be used in a different manner than the powdered form. I haven't been able to confirm if the Light version is an oral tablet or something else. User guidelines note that: Cholestyramine is available as powder form, in 4 gram packets, or in larger canisters. In the United States, it can be purchased either as a generic medicine, or as Questran or Questran Light (Bristol-Myers Squibb). I suffer from alcoholic fatty liver. I no longer drink as of 1 month. my enzynes are now normal. my doctor percribed 160mg of fenofibrate. for high triglycerides( currently at 210) I have been taking for 9 days but am getting alittle concern. I have been thinking of tossing the meds. any suggestions? ## Hi jack, In my honest opinion, the best way to normalize triglyceride levels/reduce cholesterol is stay on top of your diet. A couple "fruit-only or veggie-only" meals throughout the day would probably have a very significant impact on normalizing pretty much everything; from enzymes, vitamins and minerals, cholesterol, excess fat, any acidity from the alcohol, etc. As you can probably tell, I'm not a big advocate of using prescription drugs, since there are so many natural o...

My, soon to be, former doctor told me that over-the-counter Slo-Niacin damages the liver while Niaspan does not but he cited no research. I have read, again without citing research, that any kind of extended release tablet is harmful. Any comments? ## Well Niaspam is just a name brand for a pill that is just Niacin, so that really doesn't make sense. Any pill processed through the liver can cause damage and that is over 90% of them on the market. Niacin does not instantly damage the liver at any dose, you have to continue taking it at high doses. ## i am currently taking ciprofloxacin for my kidney and bladder infection. can i take slo niacin 30 minutes or 1 hour after taking it? thanks. ## also, can i take ciprofloxacin simultaneously with metformin and lisinopril or amlodipine? ta...

Storvas or HeartSavior, which is more effective for the treatment of high cholesterol? ## Hi Ako, It's important to know that medications can affect everyone differently, where as some people get great results from taking it, but there are others that it just doesn't work the same for. Unfortunately, the only way to find out is to actually try it and be your own best judge. Personally, being an advocate of natural alternatives, I'd suggest using HeartSavior and seeing how it works out for you. Have you had the chance to try either one of these yet?
