My husband was taking generic 40mg Simvastatin made by Accord Healthca. They are oval brick red with S 6 on side 1. Can we cut them in half to get 20mg dose. His Dr wrote a new prescription for 20mg and I hate to waste a half full bottle of the 40mg . ## This can safely be done with any medication that isn't time released, as long as there aren't specific instructions on the label that tell you not to do so. Prescribing a new dosage is just a definite way to make sure the person is getting the correct dose, because when you cut a pill in half, there can be some irregularities, but they are usually miniscule. You may want to try cutting one or two and see how it works. Some pills tend to very crumbly, so cutting results in their falling apart and can make it harder to get the cor...

I heard about a man who said that he thinks Lipitor made his wife get memory loss. Is this true as I think I have the same thing ## Me too, my memory loss just keeps getting worse ## That is not a normal side effect of this medication, as reported by the FDA, but there is no way to be sure how any given medication will actually affect anyone that takes it, since we are all different. Its typical ones are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and joint/muscle aches. Has there been any change? Have you each consulted the prescribing doctors to see if there is another option you can try?

Why is it that taking pepto bismo causes me to have frequent urination just about every hour at night time? I also take Lipitor, Avapro, Metformin, Januvia and Actos. ## Lipitor interacts with antacids. My father has the same problem, plus nausea and stomach problems. Going to doctor to try and get him off it. Liptor from what I've been studying is not a very good, or useful, drug for most people. From what I've read, it only helps 1-3% of people. I have had an issue with eating and within 1/2 hour having diarrea. So I pretty much stopped eating unless I was going to be home. I had a sonogram, all was good. One doctor gave me questran powder which I had to dissolve in water, it was disgusting. It also made my right side hurt from the side to the back. So I stopped that and went to the gastro doctor. After my colonoscopy and scope the gastro doctor gave me cholestryam, which I could mix in the drink of my choice, so I have been making smoothies and malts to mask the taste. However my side is hurting again. Just a dull ache, more of a nusience than anything else. But it is working. I have not had diarrea in almost a week! And I can eat!!!! But again I have this side pain. Is it normal? Will it eventually go away? What is causing it?...

I've been experiencing muscle pain while taking Atorvastatin / Lisinopril, and have to take Co-Codamol just to be able to move and do simple jobs. I don't want to take statins at all, but I do take coQ10 60mg. Please advise. ## It is most likely due to the Atorvastatin, it is well known to cause joint/muscle aches in some people that take it, according to NIH reports. How long have you been taking it? It may also cause nausea, dizziness, and headache. Have you informed your medical provider of this issue? You may need to try a different medication. ## My advice is to cease taking this drug after you inform your doctor. Statins attack our muscles, and that includes our heart, which is our No. 1 muscle. My mother is taking Atorvastatin but she keeps going to the bathroom a lot. So, we were wondering if this is a water pill? ## No, this is a statin medication that is used to help lower cholesterol. The NIH lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, and joint/muscle ache. However, frequent urination is a possible side effect of most medications, one can never know how any given medication will affect anyone that takes it. How often is she going? Is she on any other medications? ## Actually there are many reports that it will make your urine patterns irregular.

Need list of medication for high cholesterol ## Are there non statin Meds for high cholesterol ? ## Yes, there are a couple of non-statin options, including Fenofibrate and Gemfibrozil. However, it is worth trying one, if you aren't tolerant of statins.
