I take 20 mg of Coreg cr at bedtime and would like to take celexa 5 mg at night also to see if it makes a difference in the weight gain I am experiencing with the Celexa. ## Hi, Carla! Sorry about the problem you're having. However, I really don't think that taking it at night is going to change the side effects that the Celexa can cause. If they're happening, they're going to happen and SSRI antidepressants are very well known for causing weight gain. Once you take it and are on it for awhile, so it's reached its efficacy level in your body, changing the time of day you take it, isn't going to stop it from occurring. If it's really becoming a problem, then you'd be better served to speak to your doctor about trying a different medication. There are some ...

what happens if you stop taking celexa cold turkey if yoy have been on it for about a year ## Usually with drugs like this you do want to taper off gradually to avoid undergoing heavy withdrawal symptoms, after being on it for a year. I am not a medical professional though, so you should always consult with your doctor during this process to be on the safe side. For more specific details on others personal experiences with Celexa, I'd also check out the discussion thread link below: Discuss/Coming-off-of-Celexa-241032.htm Hope this helps!

I have been takong celexa for 7 days for anxiety. Well my anxiety is far worse from before and lets just say I havent slept in days, which I never had an issue with sleeping either. Can I stop taking cold turkey since its only been 7 days, or do I have to taper off? ## After only 7 days, you can most likely just stop, but you should double check this with your doctor, to be safe. In most cases, I'd try to encourage someone to stick it out for a month or so, because side effects tend to taper off around that time as your body gets used to a medication, however, increased anxiety and insomnia are two of the most difficult problems to live with, so this most likely just isn't the right medication for you. There are others you can try, so you may want to talk to your doctor to explo...

I am 57 years old and about a year ago began taking lorzapam for anxiety (additional stress with work situation - layoffs and bankruptcy of the co). I learned that lorazapam was addictive, so I talked to my dr about changing to a different med. She receommended zoloft, but I didn't feel as tho I felt the way I should, so now I'm taking Celexa. I'm feeling better after taking it for the last couple of months, although I really dislike the dry mouth and weight gain. I used to walk 3 miles a day 5-6 days per week and lost about 12 lbs. After changing from the lorzepam to zoloft and now to celexa, I have gained about 8 lbs. back. I lost the initiative to talk my walks. I also feel that I crave foods high in carbs (never even had cravings during pregancy). Do others of you face t...

I'm wondering what the difference between citalopram 20mg and citalopram HBR 20mg. I have been perscribed both but they look different, do they work the same? ## Wikipedia states that "Hydrobromic acid is a strong acid formed by dissolving the diatomic molecule hydrogen bromide (HBr) in water". Based on that information, I'm led to believe that Hydrobromide is simply what helps break down the tablet and act as a catalyst for absorption or bioavailability of the drug; much in the same way that Hydrochloride is used in medications. I haven't found a whole lot of information on this topic, but if anyone else can confirm or clarify whether or not there's any truth to that theory, it would be very helpful! Thanks!

Hello all, I am currently taking 40mg of Celexa, and have been for about 7 months. I originally started taking it because I had pretty bad anxiety and I would "worse case scenario" things in my head. The celexa seemed to stop these things fairly quickly, but now I have started on 25mg of Adderall XR after being diagnosed with ADHD (im 15). The Adderall helps me to focus and my grades have been rising, the original stress and anxiety was from school and grades. I think I would like to stop taking the Celexa because I feel like I don't really need it anymore and some of the side effects scare me. Like I said I tend to worse case things, and I guess im a bit paranoid (not to the crazy extent though) about some things. After seeing stories in the news about these tragic mass mur...

I have taken generic celexa for a month, and have noticed very frequent urination at night and during the day. Is this side effect normal? ## Yes, Celexa contains the active ingredient Citalopram, which is an SSRI antidepressant and the frequent urination is a very common side effect. If it is causing a severe problem for you, you should discuss it with your doctor, especially since you don't want to risk becoming dehydrated. Learn more: Is there anything else I can help with? ## I've been on generic Celexa for about 6 months now and I've developed an irregular heartbeat,my doctor had an ekg done in his office and the upper part of my heart flutters, too.I have to see a heart specialist next month and I'm scared of what this might mean.I've been having chest pains and...

It is a oval pill not scored it is beige and has a small black crescent moon and the number 40 in black letters my brother in law said it is celexa ## Hi Tracey, I ran a google image search for Celexa, as well as Citalopram, the main ingredient. However, I couldn't find anything that matches the description you provided. Do you know where your brother in law got the pill from? If he has the packaging, there will most likely be some information about the pill's manufacturer that will help me to identify it for you. Please post back if you find any more information or have any more questions. Thank you.

I switched from Lexapro to Celexa on Feb 1, 2012, due to insurance cost. I did NOT react well. The first two weeks, jitters (like caffeine) very slowly increased my insomnia, which after 2 weeks of sleeplessness, led to taking a few extra xanax (which I usually only took about 1/week) just to finally get some sleep. The next day, I passed out (for the first time in my life, and I'm 60), so OD landed me in the ER for 2 nights. The week after, I realized that the insomnia was from the Celexa, when writing bills, my usually-precise handwriting got jittery, and quit it immediately (after 3 weeks). God, this drug was awful for me - thought it would be like Lexapro, but never again. Can't recommend it -- side-effects too severe. Be careful. ## I'm very sorry about what you experie...

Is there something i can take before i drink so i dont get sick while taking klonapin and celexa? ## Have you consulted your doctor? The reason they tell you to stay away from alcohol when taking these medications isn't just to do to the possibility of getting sick, but rather due to the possible worsening of all the side effects. In addition, alcohol can cause depression of the central nervous system, which results in lowered heart rate and lowered breathing rate. The Clonazepam in the Klonopin can also cause this, so it can make it much worse and may put you in serious danger.

I was switched from 40 mg to 20 mg HBR, I am starting to feel s/sx of depression....can I double up on the 20 mg to equal 40 mg? ## Have you consulted your doctor? Why was the dose lowered? What you may be dealing with are some rebound effects, if the dose was lowered suddenly and that can actually be worse than the problem you initially started taking it to treat. However, before changing the dosage on your own, you do need to consult your doctor.

I am on celexa 40mg daily, trazadone 100mg daily, and I take excedrin daily for generalized pain. I went for a job interview and tested positive nfor methamphetamine. How is this? ## I cannot give you a definitive answer, since this site is not medical professionals, nor are we chemists, however, this has happened a lot recently to many, many people. The only thing I have been able to conclude is that there may be a bad batch of tests on the market. We have had posts from people who are taking narcotic opiates, which they are often tested for in pain management, to make sure they aren't selling them and they have had their tests come up negative, making their docs think they aren't taking them. Others have had the same problem as you, something they have never taken has shown up...

pink pill, small oval A on one side and 9 (score mark in the middle) then an O, either that or a U with a U (score mark) 6 ## me likes ## I can't find a listing for anything under this imprint code, does anyone else know what this is? ## It sounds like the correct imprint code of this pill is actually A one one side and 06 on the other - a light pink scored pill. Most likely the '90' was simply read upside-down. This is a generic version of Celexa manfuactured by Sandoz [1], containing Citalopram 20 mg. You can see the manufacturer's site to verify this imprint. You can read more about this medication on the page for . Do you have any other questions or infromation to add? My 16 year old son takes this in the pm. He is hard to get up in the morning, but he is cooperative. He sleeps in all of his classes, and when I pick him up from school, he is a maniac. Shouldn't he be taking a lower dose throughout the day? ## white round pills with 208 on one side and i/g on other side---has name celexa on it but doesn't look like the ones I was taking last month. ## This tablet does contain 40mgs of Citalopram, a generic for Celexa, an antidepressant. My guess would be your pharmacy just used a different supplier this time, since each companies pills have to look different and have different markings. Some of the most common side effects include: nausea, drowsiness, dry mouth and headache. You can read more about this medication here: Is there anything else I...
