Can You Take Benzos While You're On Suboxone? (Page 3) (Top voted first)

I've been seeing a lot of posts regarding taking benzos while on Suboxone. It is ok to take a benzo w/ suboxone - as long as you're taking the prescribed dosages you'll be fine. Now if you're taking 3 or 4 8mgs of Suboxone and say 5 or 6 Xanax that's not good, that's where the reported deaths have come from. I've been on Subs for 5 yrs. I've also been subscribed klonopin and am currently taking valium w/ it and it's fine. I'm on a low dose and only take what I am prescribed.

@Jake, First of all the person who posted the starter comment never claimed to be a Doctor, but simply posted what he or she is prescribed and says is safe if taken as prescribed. People posting things like "you will die" or "It is illegal" may stop serious addicts from seeking help, I am pretty sure it is a safer alternative to heroin and benzos. Any doctor can prescribe opiates, only "x" doctors can prescribe a safer alternative for pain and/or medication assisted treatment for the very strung out U.S. public. Maybe you should try using grammar check. This is a forum and you sir are dumb if you take what a stranger tells you for fact.;) Aholes like you are the reason she posted the original comment.

I'm in the same boat as you. I'm on Suboxone 22mg a day and 2mg of clonazepam daily for PTSD. My doctor says it's not a problem.

He is actually correct, I see a suboxone doctor, I take suboxone for chronic pain and she prescribed me Valium for generalized anxiety disorder and PTSD. So.... from personal experience I know this to be true.

I have been disabled since 2001 from a severe back injury. I have tried spinal cord stimulators and doctors have given me Fentanyl, Oxycodone, Oxycontin, Vicodin and everything known. I even ended up at a methadone clinic. It gave me seizures. I found Suboxone films by accident trying to stop methadone. I now take suboxone for pain; 3 8/2 film strip sublingual and 310 mg Valium per day. I've been taking that for 7 years and it has given me my life back and a chance for a quality of life. No cloudy headedness, no buzz. I take as directed. Now the pain clinic because of federal regulations says I have to stop the benzo. It's like taking part of my life away. I have PTSD. I just don't see how they can do that after 7 years of no problems, no abuse, use one drug store and it's not right to take away a person's right to a quality of life. And I'll be on something the rest of my life so what is the problem with addiction, big f***ing deal. I have an appointment with my neurologist to give me my Valium each month. What other non-benzo drugs are there that help with PTSD and severe anxiety?

RE: Valiums - I'm on 16 mg of Suboxone per day and a I also take asst. benos for anxienty. Valium is the ONLY one I can't feel at all. Klopoin/Rivotril or Xanax are the only one's that seem to affect me in a way I can feel. However, when I had trouble sleeping, I took a blue Roche Xanax and it actually did get me to sleep.

I have been taking opiates for three years and just took my last ones last night at 9 and this morning took my first suboxone and I am doing great! I was taking anywhere from 150-200 mg a day of roxi or Percocet! I have a way to go but know I can make it now:) I have normally had three doses by this time and am feeling good so far! Go get some ASAP! They work!

Yes.. Suboxone will help very much just as long as you don't plan on staying on the subs for a long time.. I started at 14 mg subs and take 2 mg xanax for extreme anxiety.. But it's worth it not having to always worry about finding pills all the time.. And it's very very private I have not relapsed once and been very honest w my dr. You need to be really willing to taper off subs and be really willing and want to get off the pills.. No good way to live.. Fun when you get em for ligit reasons but its terrible I been there I cut down to 6 mg a day and I feel better than I first started. Good luck

my name is nick irronically. i know a friend that grows perfect chronic organic. ive been seeing drs. for years taking meds. finaly got valium, even tho i already geta s*** load every month. but now i dont have to stop taking em a few days befor my appt and worry bout my drug screen cuz obviously there expectd to be in my system. but he did mention wanting to ultimitaly see my thc go down/ me stop. hes the first dr. thats even considered giving me benzos while on suboxone. he dx's me 2 8mg subs and 10mg valium. 1 a day but i get someone elses scrip for basicalt nothing so i can get high all day if i wantd to. when i was a doper i went for the rush and the up feeling not the downer feeling..too bad i find myself on the nod sometimes from the subs n valium, tho i dont enjoy it so i avoid it. anyways if i had money and stable place to live id quit all my med treatment and just smoke weed if thats what it came down too. only chronic and hash is worth it to me. now that i gota try and consider posibly totalt quiting, my dr. was ok w.it originaly for a long time while i was on subs. my thc lvls where maxd lol. but now cuz of the valium i dont know what i wana do. but im inclined to quit if i have to at this junctur in my life. im thinking maybe theres a way i can find one of thoese drinks or w.e that actualy works ands makes u test thc clean.

Agreed, I've been on kpins 4 a day 1mlg for 3 years and subs 8mlg 3 times daily and now down to 2 depending on the day however i no longer feel the affect of my pins i could honestly take 60 @ once and feel nothing... time to say bye bye

I am a mom, for those who are honest to theirself, and really want to be drug free, Suboxane will work. It requires you to daily know that you are fighting yourself. My son is 27 years old, has been an opioids abuser and more for 7 years. He is on one 8mg twice a day, but he is not honest to himself, he smokes pot all night, he is vaping pot from 9 to 5 am. He abuses his suboxane and runs short for a week and I don't know what he uses at night, but the whole house smellls like medicine and we are inhaling it feeling drugged. Harms, ears hurt and get numb, we get this awful medice taste soar throat, problem he denies he is doing nothing he get very violent when I confronted about it. Does anybody knows what do you think he is vaping? I am so close to denied my help to him. I read done does crack cocaine with suboxane, can you vape that too? Please help, I read all this comments trying to help him and understand him.

I am not a dr but i am being treated by an addiction specialist,i have been on suboxone for 2 yrs and i was also hooked on benzos,my dr got me off them by tapering me off slowly,so to answer your question,if they are prrscribed and you are taking the correct dosage its safe but i would check before ever mixing your meds,

Yes I do I am currently on 14 mg of subs a day. I can't sleep. It's a real problem. I have tried other non additive treatments like trazdone and squeal these Meds have harsh side effects that r worse then my sleep problem. My sleep problem is bad I can't sleep till 6 or 7 morning on a good day. I am sick of trying Meds that don't work. I knw for a fact that benzos do. You can't ignore one medical problem just b cuz the treatment might b additive . How em I suppose to function without a proper sleep cyle. What else can I take besides benzos that don't make my heart beat rapidly or leave me very tired when I m awake? I am very desperate at this point for sleep. I don't think with holding benzos as a possible treatment is better then living with no sleep !

Hey the guy maybe abusing the Meds and that is not a good thing however, he gonna do it anyway Someone might as well tell him the safe dose so he doesn't die. It's ppl like u is the reason why ppl lye about there past addiction problems because they can't get the right Meds for there probl. Squeal leaves me tired and zombiefied during the day. So has it occurred to u that he lied to his doctor to get benzos for sleep or anxiety? Instead of the doc dishing out squeal that is supposed to be used for psychosis.

I've been on buprenorphine ( subutex) 5-6years now with 1mg klonopin (clonazepam ) for the same time from the same dr and he urges me to lower doses and get off klonopin just because legally i guess they were never supossed to be prescribed together but I have no side effects except maybe liver damage from my hep c and from being hooked on one drug to two now which is kind of a total b**** and its the dr and my fault I didn't NEED them once I got on sub cause that helped my anxiety but I got them anyway n now I'm stuck on them till I can detox from benzos at least . MORAL OF THE STORY IS SOME PEOPLE CAN USE THEIR MEDS N NOT BE RETARDED N basically TAKE THEM AS PRESCRIBED or LESS (thats what i do i actually take a quarter sub and quarter kpin more when i need it) U DON'T FEEL HIGH ON BENOS ANYWAY you Just get sleepy. Dumb kids/People just ruin everything for the decently smart humans .
