Hello, Jack! How are you?
Yes, they tend to increase the toxicity of each other, which can be risky, in some cases. Thus, it would be best to follow your doctor's advice.
Normal side effects to Lisinopril may include nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain and dry cough.
Is there anything else I can help with?
How long does it take losartan to get out of your system, so it would be safe to start back on my lisinopril. I was having a dry cough with lisinopril, so my dr put me on losartan, but it isn't controlling my blood pressure at all. I have been taking 100 mg losartan a day.
Maybe this post will help someone. After taking lisinopril for years, I began experiencing symptoms that I finally connected to that drug and stopped taking it. My doctor gave me a prescription for losartan. It had been four days since I stopped the lisinopril. After the first dose I felt a slight tingling in my lips and tongue (same as with lisinopril) but it did not last so I took a dose the next day and within 15 minutes my tongue and throat began to swell. In the e.r. on monitors and i.v.'s the doctor told me they might have to do a tracheotomy. Fortunately, the swelling went down and I returned home, shaken but alive. This was three days ago. My lips and tongue still burn and tingle. I carry an "emergency" kit of prednisone, benadryl, and an epi-pen. Currently I am on no bp meds and my bp this morning was 146/78. I know that's high but I am determined that through diet and life style I can get it under control. Right now, however, I am discouraged about these lingering symptoms and am so afraid that I will have another reaction before this garbage is out of my system that I am afraid to go to sleep at night. I have watched more television in the past few nights than I have all year. Sorry to go on like this.
I had hair loss on 20mg Lisinopril and a 25mg water-pill. I now take 25mg Losartan. I'm still getting mild hair loss. I'm trying to figure out why it's a hair here and there..it's not from DHT. My testosterone was 614. The lab said that level was average. Its gotta be the meds. I'm going to ask to be put on a low dose of Carvediliol. I heard it helps balance the sympathetic and parasympathetic nervous system as well as lower the heart rate..the lowest ive seen my bp was 136/74. I need something better without hair loss and side effects. Can somebody help me please? Thank you.

I took lisinopril, hydrochlorothiazide, amlodipine and clonidine and damn near died. Damage to kidneys. I wouldn’t give them to a dog let alone a human. New kidney doctor put me on metoprolol 25 mg tablet twice a day and 50 bg of losartan once a day. Worked fairly well with no side effects. But no still not consistently low. Now, my great cardiologist put me on 30 mg extended release isosorbide and my BP WILL STAY at 117-120/72-75 for 15-20 hours. No chest pain. I take it first thing in the morning, have no headaches or discomfort, then around 6:30 or 7:00 I take plavix, metoprolol and losartan and 81 mg of aspirin and feel better every day (normal)... I’m 80 and this regimen (after 4 ridiculous and trying years) makes me feel like my old self when I was 35.
Could I take Lisinopril 20mg and losartan 50mg for high blood pressure am 41 years
I am responding because recently my doctor took me off the combination of 20 mg Lisinopril and 50 mg of Losartan. He dropped the LInsinopril completely and just doubled the Losartan to 100mg. Soon after I became seriously dizzy and experienced severe pressure around my sinuses. I felt so awful I went into the ER, which they could find nothing. I then went back to the office and was told I must have a sinus infection, which seemed odd to me because it came on so quick. In any case they put me on an antibiotic and sent me on my way. The pressure remained and I started becoming more dizzy and nauseous daily. I had a very hard time, especially in the mornings, I took my pills at night. I started having trouble concentrating and began to make many small computational mistakes, I am a math teacher. I got to the point where I could barely survive. I went back and told him to take me off the Losartan, at this point I had found out that one of the major side effects was the sinus pressure I had described to the nurse that told me I had a sinus infection. In any case, I switched back to 20 mg Lisinopril at night and an additional 10 mg in the morning. It has been a little over a week and I am just now starting to feel the side effects from Losartan are going slowly going away. I write this because I found no one in a similar situation and I am hoping it helps someone else out there. I am sure Losartan works for some, but for me it was awful.
Is anyone aware that LISINOPRIL is one of the most dangerous drugs out there? There are no less than 200 Law Suits against this drug for causing Liver damage and failure. I know it caused damage to my Liver and thank god I took myself off it and have been taking Cardio-Pure a natural BP supplement that has Raulwolfia in it that seems to work quite well with no side affects. I keep asking myself why do Dr's consistently treat the symptoms rather than the underlying cause. The medical treatment for an oil leak to your car would be to put a pan under the car to catch the oil dripping which is the same a prescribing a drug vs taking your car to a mechanic who will put your car on a hoist and determine what is causing the oil leak. If one drug does not solve the problem they keep prescribing drugs, drugs and more drugs. Just think if a Dr. found a cure for high BP, Diabetes and High Cholesterol, big Pharma would be out of business because they fear and hate the words cure disease. Poor big Pharma, these diseases generate about 500 billion a year in revenue so they have no interest in curing anything and promote and favour always treating the symptoms and Dr's just go along with this philosophy. I wonder why?

thank you! I have never been able to describe, but feel you described what I have felt. I too teach math! I too am back to lisinopril, and am wondering if a higher doze is all I need. Thanks for your comment!

After a Ulta sound test in Feb 2018 my Dr diagnosed heart failure with a low efraction rate. (My heart not getting enough blood) .. let me cut to the chase; after 3-1/2 years of misery, I had a heart attack on 7/1/2018. The problem all along going back 2 years, when I had a different cardiologist, was my left descending artery was blocked and ignored during a procedure done in June of last year. The iodine used in this procedure damaged my kidneys.
NOW, I want this to help people who are miserable with mediocre cardiologists. 1.) if you can’t breath, have angina, can’t get your BP Down the first thing you need is LASIX. (Furosemide) 2.) After that if you’re still having Angina, you’ve got a blockage somewhere. 3.) as it turned out on 7/1/2018, my heart attack and subsequent procedure showed my left descending artery was 95% blocked and two other areas needed additional stents. Fortunately for me my heart now gets enough blood, I take only plavix, losartan, lasix, and centrum silver vitamin and feel better than I did 30 years ago. Thank God for my great cardiologist. He saved my life and it only took him 3-1/2 months to sort it all out. He didn’t come around for two minutes on his rounds at the hospital, he came every night between 6-8 PM to discuss how to build my kidneys up in order to be able to handle the angioplasty without throwing me into dialysis. We used mucomyst for 4 days and then did the procedure.
In summation, while your heart is still beating and you KNOW something is wrong, INSIST that they find it and stop putting a band aid and masking the MAJOR problem.

Re: Helen Stewart (# 12)
Lisinopril worked better for me but made my wife mad because it gave be ED.
Re: Gooch (# 4)
I was on Lisinopril until my doctor wasn't getting a kickback from big pharma and now my BP is really high. Amlodipine lines doctor's pockets and almost killed me. They don't care, we are just a walking wallet until they discard us especially if you're a woman.
