Can anyone help? My INR is at 4.0. I'm wondering if I should skip my Plavix dose along with my Warfarin. Any help will be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. ## I'm not on Plavix but when my INR is that high my dr. has me hold the warfarin 1 or even 2 days. When in doubt I ALWAYS call Walgreens pharmacists, they always give me good advice until I can check in with my doctor. ## Thank you very much I should have thought of that. I'm new to this and I freak out when things go wrong. I am having a hard time staying in range. I will make that call right away. God bless, Mike

Does astaxanthin interfere with blood thinners like pradaxa? ## Since the Astaxanthin is just a supplement, it has not been tested for possible interactions with prescription medications, such as the Pradaxa, or for problems with medical conditions. Thus, the only thing I can really suggest is discussing it with your doctor, before taking it, since some supplements can cause adverse reactions. This would be the safest thing to do. Learn more Pradaxa details here. Are there any other questions?

They began treating her on the 2nd of February I got a call to go to the hospital as she was unwell and had been vomiting blood during the night, a camera revealed ulcers on the oesphagus and stomach. She has had 4 weeks of very ill health, she is still very weak but hopefully on the mend, I don't know if Pradaxa was the cause as she only took 3 tablets, but it says t...

blood thinner ## Did you mean Plavix, the antiplatelet medication that contains Clopidogrel? Since it's used to prevent clotting, it is not a straight blood thinner, which is why it's paired with Aspirin in some cases. The side effects may include nausea, dizziness and increased risk of bleeding. There are more Plavix details available here.

I WANT TO KNOW EVERYTHING ABOUT ANTICOAGULANTS ## There are actually a few different categories, such as blood thinners and ones that inhibit clotting, so I can't really list them all here. They work in different ways, but basically can achieve the same purposes. It is much easier and informative if I just put in a link to give you more anticoagulant details here. There is a ton of information there, such as the types, how many are available and the possible risks, such as hemorrhaging, plus there are reference and external links that you can look at to learn even more. Have you been told you should take one?

Can you take Coumadin along with Cream of Tartar and Sulfur tablets? My mother was told there was an old time remedy to purify blood and get rid of ulcers/sores. I actually found a place that sells the tablets and was also told by them they work wonders for people with sores, etc. She has sores on her legs due to improper blood flow and a blood clot for which she is taking Coumadin. She is also going to ask her doctor before doing this holistic treatment but thought I would also ask a professional. Thank you. PS: she is not diabetic. ## I'm not a doctor, or a pharmacist, I will state that up front. As to possible interactions, I think asking her doctor would be best. I can't find anything that will allow me to check the Coumadin with Cream of Tartar. I have a resource that check...

My daughter is just go on to rivaroxaban, why do they start on 15 mgs the go up to 20mgs .Thanks, this is new in the UK. ## It is common with some medications to start someone on one certain dosage that is known to be well tolerated, then go up to the next, once it has been ascertained that the person suffered no serious ill effects from the initial dosage. Learn more Rivaroxaban details here. This is an anticoagulant, so it is completely normal for a doctor to proceed with caution, especially since they have to watch for any signs of bleeding. How long will she be on the 15mg, before going up?

Can Ecosprin 150mg and Plavix be used together. When it is used for same proeprties ie blood thinning then why doctors prescribe together ## They can be used together, because they both work in different ways to achieve the desired effect and, sometimes a person may still have clotting issues if they just use one medication. Learn more Plavix details here. Learn more Ecosprin details here. The doctor should be monitoring the person regularly and they should also know about the associated bleeding risks. Are there any other questions or comments? ## Thanks. My husband had an episode of TIA and was advised ecosprin by neurologist. I am scheduled for a screening colonoscopy. I have been on Plavix after undergoing a repair of a Popiteal Aneurysm (behind the knee) in August. The GI doctor says I should discontinue Plavix 5 days before the test. The cardiologist isn't sure. What is the best situation.

Is it ok to change time of taken Coumadin from am to pm? ## I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with switching the dose from AM to PM. According to rxlist.com, the anticoagulant effect of Coumadin persists beyond 24 hours. So if a patient misses a dose of Coumadin at the intended time of day (AM), the patient should take the dose as soon as possible on the same day. The patient should not double the dose the next day to make up for a missed dose. I hope this info helps to answer your question!

We found a small round brown pill in my sisters school clothes it was small round brown but dad said the inscription was lr but not really sure ## The closest match I've been able to locate is that of a round yellow pill imprinted with LR, which has been identified as Panwarfin (Generic name - Warfarin) 7.5 mg. Does anyone here have any experience of the same thing? I had multiple pulmonary embolus following achilles surgery and was started in Marevan warfarin. Within a few days I started to feel better and am now on my fifth week of treatment, breathing better, sleeping better and generally feeling more well than I have for the last 2 years or so. I have been told that I have familial 'sticky blood' and wonder whether this has been making me feel sluggish. I would like to know whether this is a normal thing or whether I am just strange! ## Well, in a way it can, so that really isn't strange. It's not that your blood is sticky and making you feel sluggish in a direct sense, but if you tend to have thicker blood that clots easily, it tends to raise your blood pressure and make y...

White, oblong. No markings on the other side. ## The closest match I could find is a white oblong pill imprinted with "APO 033" on one side and blank on the other. It has been identified as Pentoxifylline ER 400 mg. Manufacturer: Apotex Corp. National Drug Code (NDC): 60505-0033 Pentoxifylline is used to improve blood flow in patients with circulation problems to reduce aching, cramping, and tiredness in the hands and feet. It works by decreasing the thickness (viscosity) of blood. This change allows your blood to flow more easily, especially in the small blood vessels of the hands and feet. Does this sound like a possible match, perhaps if the markings aren't clear?
