I changed my BP drugs to Adco Bisocor - a small dose of 5mg a day for marginally raised BP. The previous drugs were causing hair loss and severe weight loss, as well as loss of appetite. At first the Adco Bisocor seemed fine - I've been on it about 4 years now. The hair loss and weight loss were almost totally reversed. However, I have now once again been losing weight, some hair, and have been extremely dehydrated to the extent that my mouth is almost too dry to speak. What is this tan & white capsule with G 357 on it? It was sold to me at my local pharmacy as a replacement for my usual purple capsule which is Potassium Chloride for control of blood pressure. ## Hello, Benny! How are you? It is manufactured by Glenmark Pharmaceuticals and they do list it as containing Potassium Chloride. It has just been manufactured by a different company than the other one was, which is normal for generic medications. Whichever one they have in stock, at any given time, depends on what company was offering the cheapest price, when they needed to restock their supply. The FDA warns that it is very harsh on the stomach, so it should be taken with food. Is there anything else I can help with?

My doctor has started me on clonidine pills, taking them 2-3 times per day. I was told by a nurse that he has me taking too many. What is the best way to taper Clonidine and move to my doctors preferred high Blood Pressure medicine, Amlodipine (5MG 1 pill once a day)? I have been on Clonidine (0.1 MG 1 pill twice a day) for 6 days. Should I taper? How should I taper. Pharmacist thought I could drop Clonidine immediately and move to Amlodipine since I have been on Clonidine for only 6 days. What is the generic form of prazosin, or prazosin alternatives/substitutes (when prescribed for PTSD or anxiety)? ## Prazosin is also minnipress, I've been on it for years for PTSD and it works wonderful ## @Debbie, Minipress is the brand/trade name and Prazosin is the generic name. As far as alternatives go, Prazosin is an "alpha blocker" - [which according to NIH is indicated for treating hypertension], so looking into other drugs of the same classification may be your best bet. The way it lowers blood pressure is by relaxing blood vessels. So I'd imagine that this mechanism is what would have a direct effect on anxiety or PTSD. I don't believe all blood pressure meds work in the same manner (e.g. beta blockers / diuretics), but it goes without sayin' that lowe...

I started taking 5mg of Lisinopril about 2 years ago. Within a month or less I started having unexplained shoulder pain. Then they raised my dosage to 10mg per day. My joint and tendon pain keeps spreading. It's worst in my knees, but it moves around. I get it in my hands, elbows, hips, ankles, feet and even my neck. It feels like mostly tendon pain and tightness. It's like tendonitis without the swelling, redness and pain to touch. I'm gonna go off the Lisinopril tomorrow to see if it helps. Is it safe to take Diovan and Triamterene/hctz together? I just failed a flight physical partly because the ME said these two drugs shouldn't be taken together!! I was taking the TEVA Triangle shaped 10 Mg. The Drug store switched to a round white one with only a 10 imprinted on it. I am having issues. Recently I've come up positive for opiates in my system and the medication I take is prazosin, which also interfered and made me negative for Methadone which I take every day.
