How are you? It really depends on what the manufacturer has used to create the coating, how thick it is, the storage conditions, and etc. The FDA provides lists of certain acceptable ingredients that a manufacturer can use, which they consider safe. They can choose from among those, but the thickness of the coating may be different, as well as the composition. Then the storage conditions come into play, if you've kept them in a warm, moist area, that could cause it to rub off easier, than if it were under optimal storage conditions that are defined by the FDA as being dry, dark, cool areas. For example, storing medications in your kitchen or bathroom...

That's not an extremely high amount to take, but the NIH warns that you may experience more side effects than usual, which may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. However, there is a chance your blood pressure could drop too low, so if you find yourself feeling extremely dizzy, fainting or having trouble breathing, you should seek medical attention.

I changed my BP drugs to Adco Bisocor - a small dose of 5mg a day for marginally raised BP. The previous drugs were causing hair loss and severe weight loss, as well as loss of appetite. At first the Adco Bisocor seemed fine - I've been on it about 4 years now. The hair loss and weight loss were almost totally reversed. However, I have now once again been losing weight, some hair, and have been extremely dehydrated to the extent that my mouth is almost too dry to speak. Can this be the drug? ## Have you consulted your doctor? The active ingredient in this is Bisoprolol, which is a beta blocker and yes, it is always possible for a medication to suddenly start causing new side effects, because our bodies are always changing. However, you should check with a doctor to determine whether...

I prefer the brand by teva but cvs and rite aid say they are not able to order it any longer. can you advise me where i can obtain it? ## Does TEVA still make benazepril HCL 20mg? CVS. Caremark and Walmart all say they can no longer get it. One pharmacist thought he had heard FDA shut down TEVA production of benazepril. Does anyone know about this and whether TEVA benazepril HCL 20mg is available? ## According to Teva's product page, they still have Amlodipine + Benazepril Hydrochloride capsules listed as something they make. Hi there. I have been on Lisinopril 5mg PO QD for almost a year now. My prescription ran out and I went 4 days without it before I had the chance to get it refilled. After the second day, I started to notice a dull headache. Could going off such a low dose for such a short period of time cause headaches? ## Hello, Sunshine! How are you doing? Has there been any change? Yes, you may experience headaches, when you abruptly stop taking such a medication, according to FDA reports. You may also experience nausea, diarrhea, and rebound high blood pressure and elevated heart rate. Thus, it is always best to make sure that you don't run out, by picking up your prescription a day, or two ahead of time. If you find you have no refills, please call your doctor's office, in advance, since t...
What is this tan & white capsule with G 357 on it? It was sold to me at my local pharmacy as a replacement for my usual purple capsule which is Potassium Chloride for control of blood pressure. ## Hello, Benny! How are you? It is manufactured by Glenmark Pharmaceuticals and they do list it as containing Potassium Chloride. It has just been manufactured by a different company than the other one was, which is normal for generic medications. Whichever one they have in stock, at any given time, depends on what company was offering the cheapest price, when they needed to restock their supply. The FDA warns that it is very harsh on the stomach, so it should be taken with food. Is there anything else I can help with?
My doctor has started me on clonidine pills, taking them 2-3 times per day. I was told by a nurse that he has me taking too many. Should I be concerned? ## Hi Pamela, u didn't mention the reason why the doc has u taking it or the mg. it is. (theres many reasons docs prescribe it). Anyway, my doc prescribed it to help with the side effect of extreme sweating I get from being on methadone (in case ur not familiar, methadone is a med that helps keep people off pain pills). I'm not a junkie however from a few scripts for legit pain pills from doc it got me hooked. However, with the help from the methadone I've been completely clean 8yrs now. Anyway, my doc gave me 0.2mg of clonidine & said to take 3 times a day. However I only take it once maybe twice only on days I really r...
What is the best way to taper Clonidine and move to my doctors preferred high Blood Pressure medicine, Amlodipine (5MG 1 pill once a day)? I have been on Clonidine (0.1 MG 1 pill twice a day) for 6 days. Should I taper? How should I taper. Pharmacist thought I could drop Clonidine immediately and move to Amlodipine since I have been on Clonidine for only 6 days. I think my DR said to take one Clonidine and then later in the day one Amlodipine (or vice versa). For how many days I do not know. I will call the office in the morning for more instructions. I worry because I do not know if it was the Amlodipine that made my blood pressure spike so high and I do not want the same thing to happen when I drop Clonidine for Amlodipine Worrisome. I have purchased my own blood pressure machine. Wha...

What is the generic form of prazosin, or prazosin alternatives/substitutes (when prescribed for PTSD or anxiety)? ## Prazosin is also minnipress, I've been on it for years for PTSD and it works wonderful ## @Debbie, Minipress is the brand/trade name and Prazosin is the generic name. As far as alternatives go, Prazosin is an "alpha blocker" - [which according to NIH is indicated for treating hypertension], so looking into other drugs of the same classification may be your best bet. The way it lowers blood pressure is by relaxing blood vessels. So I'd imagine that this mechanism is what would have a direct effect on anxiety or PTSD. I don't believe all blood pressure meds work in the same manner (e.g. beta blockers / diuretics), but it goes without sayin' that lowe...
is this a blood thinner ## No, Metoprolol is a beta blocker that's most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache and hypotension. You can learn more Metoprolol details here. Are there any comments or questions? ## Can i have root canal theraphy while taking metropolol? ## I had a root canal therapy without anesthesia while I am on metoprolol 50 mg twice a day. But later after taking antibiotic; I suffered severe bloating and short breathing until my family doctor recommend eating yogurt with the antibiotic.
I started taking 5mg of Lisinopril about 2 years ago. Within a month or less I started having unexplained shoulder pain. Then they raised my dosage to 10mg per day. My joint and tendon pain keeps spreading. It's worst in my knees, but it moves around. I get it in my hands, elbows, hips, ankles, feet and even my neck. It feels like mostly tendon pain and tightness. It's like tendonitis without the swelling, redness and pain to touch. I'm gonna go off the Lisinopril tomorrow to see if it helps. If so I'm curious if anyone has had these issues with Lisinopril and how long they lasted once they were off the medication. ## That can be a side effect of this medication, as reported by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased urination. However...
Is it safe to take Diovan and Triamterene/hctz together? I just failed a flight physical partly because the ME said these two drugs shouldn't be taken together!! I've been taking them together for about two years as prescribed by my PCP. Really want to get completely off meds but presume I'll need to go slowly. Any advise? Thanks ## It isn't that they shouldn't be taken together, but they can cause some problems, so your doctor must carefully consider the dosage and should be monitoring you regularly. Now, this information is only relevant to the medicine in general. When it comes to specific criteria, such as that related to a flight physical, it may be a prohibited combination, due to the problems that can be caused by using them together. The first is due the risk...
I was taking the TEVA Triangle shaped 10 Mg. The Drug store switched to a round white one with only a 10 imprinted on it. I am having issues. Who makes this one, and what are the active ingredients as opposed to Teva's ingredients. ## I am pretty sure that the manufacturer of the pill you are describing is Accord healthcare since they make one just like that. Can you confirm if the name is listed or abbreviated on the prescription bottle? The active ingredient should be Lisinopril just like TEVA's version, although the inactive ingredients / fillers / etc may be different. Here's what I'm finding about this pill so far: NDC: 16729-196-01 (can you confirm on your prescription bottle or handout?) Active Ingredient: Lisinopril 10 mg Inactive Ingredients: - Corn Starch - Sil...

My doctor has prescribed Telma H for maintaining blood pressure. It was changed to Telma 40 but did not give a full explanation why. On the net I have seen there is Telma AM as well. I am diabetic and with medication its under control. My confusion is regarding the various Telma's ## Hello, Kuldip! How are you? There are different ingredients in each one. Telma only contains the active ingredient Telmisartan, Telma H contains Telmisartan and Hydrocholorothiazide, while Telma AM contains Telmisartan and Amlodipine, all of them are used to treat high blood pressure and some cardiac conditions. The U.S. FDA lists the typical side effects for such combinations as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. They are sometimes also prescribed for d...
