I've been on Candesartan for two weeks, in addition to long standing BP prescriptions for Bendroflumethiazide and Amlodopine. Side effects since starting Candesartan include sore neck on left side, sore arms, headaches, stuffy, itchy, runny nose and tiredness. Does anyone else have these, and if so, did they get better? My 10 year old accidently took a double dose of 50mg of atenolol. 6 hours apart. He has aortic stenoses ## Hello, Kathy! How are you? When in doubt, it is always best to contact poison control, or your nearest emergency services department. Given his age, taking a double dose could cause dangerously low blood pressure and heart rate, according to the U.S. FDA. Did he experience any adverse effects? At 10 years old, it might be best if you took control of the medication, rather than letting him dose himself. ## I am 66 years old. I took 25 mg atenolol at noon time and by mistake I took it again after 10 hours. ## I accidentally took two doses of my 50 mg atenolol and it's been about four hours now. Will I be alright? ## I took 50 mg twice by mistake I am 92 yrs old
I was wondering if it was ok to take those 3 meds at the same time? Lisinopril 10mg, Amlodipine 10mg, and Atorvastatin 20mg? ## They can be taken together, as long as your doctor approves. However, the FDA warns that you may experience more severe side effects, which may include nausea, dizziness, headache, joint/muscle aches, and lower blood pressure. How are you doing taking this combination? Are you on any other medications? ## I havent had any side effects at all actually i feel a lot better ## When taking a combination of meds, your safest resource is your Pharmacist. Always ask them how to take. I always do that along with asking Mayo Clinic website or I call Mayo Clinic. Usually they tell me spread apart, like one in morning, afternoon and evening. Best of luck to you. I've s...
I take 25 mg of Amlodipine and 10mg of Losartan. How long can I go without taking any before I am in danger? ## There is no way to say, so you should continue taking them as prescribed. The FDA warns that their typical side effects may possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Why are you missing doses? ## I'm taking losartan 50mg and I want to jump to amlodipine. What particular mg of amlodipine should I take to do it? ## My Dr has me taking 100 mg of losartan in the evening and 10 mg of amlodipine in the morning. The amlodipine only lowers my blood pressure to the 140/90 range and when I take the losartan in the evening it's down to 120/80 range. My question is, can I take the losartan and amlodipine together in the morning instead o...
I was prescribed Amlodipine 2 weeks ago. I'm 69 years old and it is making me sick. Can I stop this med safely? Thank you ## Amlodipine is most commonly prescribed to help lower high blood pressure, and to treat certain cardiac conditions, if it was prescribed for you, you should consulted your doctor, before stopping it, so they can help you safely switch to a different medication. If you suddenly stop it, on your own, you create the risk of the condition being treated becoming dangerous. According to FDA reports, Amlodipine has been known to cause nausea, headache, dizziness, dry mouth, and increased urination as side effects, but typically, such side effects will improve, as your body gets used to the medication, however, that may take about 4 to 5 weeks. I have two tablets left in my prescription. Are there any over the counter meds for high blood pressure? ## All you need do is call your pharmacy for refill and they will contact your physician with a refill. Why would you risk anything else.. ## What is the difference between Verapamil SA and Verapamil ER? ## No, medications for treating high blood pressure require a doctor's prescription. Verapamil may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache, hypotension, and increased urination. Ref: Verapamil Information Lydia, SA stands for sustained action, and ER stands for extended release, both mean the same thing, though, as they just des...
I took my amlodipine 5mg and bisoprolol 5mg upon waking up at 6:30am, then mistakenly took them again at 11am. What will happen to me? ## I took my amlodipine 5mg and bisoprolol 5mg at night 7:30 pm and mistakenly took them again at 8:30 pm. What will I do. ## That is not actually an overdose amount, but doubling up may cause you to experience more severe side effects than usual, such as dizziness, headache, increased urination, dehydration, and low blood pressure. Please keep watch on your symptoms, if you experience any, and seek medical attention if they become severe; though it is always best to check with your doctor to be sure. Ref: Amlodipine Information & Bisoprolol Information You should also be careful not to become dehydrated by making sure you take in plenty of fluids. D...
Hi, I was taking propranolol to help with anxiety. Dosage was dependent on how bad anxiety was on any given day. I was struggling with self-esteem, so visited a hair clinic for help with thinning hair. One of the things that I was given by the clinic was Minoxidil 10%, which is a product proven to help stimulate hair regrowth (see Rogaine). This product was applied to the scalp twice a day, morning and night. Within a few days of using the Minoxidil, I started to feel chronic fatigue, which literally knocked me off my feet. I also went into a really deep depression. Something was not right! I took to Dr Google lol. Very quickly, I found that chronic fatigue and depression are two symptoms of very low blood pressure. Fortunately, I own a BP monitor and took some readings. My usual restin...
I took Bystolic when I was first diagnosed with high blood pressure and did fine. When the generic came out I was switched to it. It seems around the same time that any time I exert myself to do anything I start sweating just on my face, head and neck. Has anyone else had this issue? ## I’ve been on the generic for 2 months 5mg and have had no deleterious effects. ## The FDA does list increased sweating as a possible side effect of Bystolic (Nebivolol), along with nausea, headache, stomach pain, and tiredness. Ref: Bystolic Information Are you on any other medications?
My doctor switched me over from the tablet to the sustained release capsules and doubled my dose from 80mg to 80mg twice a day. Somehow my heart arrhythmia has gotten worse. I am unable to sleep because my heart will not stop fluttering and I feel out of breath and weak. My GP says this is normal (I'm unable to contact my cardiologist) and is just a result of my body getting used to a higher dose and to just wait it out. But how does that make sense?? How can a higher dose make my symptoms worse? I only asked for something to be changed as I would get some mild fluttering night when my medication wore off that was irritating, this is beyond mild and is even happening two hours after I took the medication. Is this really just my body getting used to a higher dose? ## Palpitations can...
Taking Metoprolol Succer for about 18 mos. About six months ago, started knee & joint pain . . . sometimes severe. I know the drug is causing the pain after doing allot of research. So . . . what is my alternative? ## Hello, Bob! How are you? Have you consulted your doctor? It would be unusual for the medication to start causing it that far into treatment with it. Side effects usually manifest early on, though it could be different for you, since none of us are the same. However, there are other medications you can try, if you'd like something that isn't known to cause as many side effects, you may want to ask your doctor about Labetalol. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness and headache. ## I am also having problems with metoprolol and leg and kne...
I recently began taking propranolol for low blood pressure. I took a drug screen and it tested positive for amphetamines and opiates, however,I haven't taken anything but Goody Powders and my prescribed dosage of 10 mg of propranolol. Could someone tell me how it caused a false positive test result? Thank you very much for any help. ## Your taking it for low blood pressure? Propanolol is used to treat high blood pressure, because it helps to lower it. Learn more Propranolol details here. And it can cause a false positive for Amphetamines, but I can't really explain the specifics of why. However, in most cases, it's due to the quality of the test being used, the less expensive, non-certified tests have been known to give these false positive results anywhere from 4 to 50% of t...
I have been taking Ciplactin for weeks now for gaining weight, but now my feet and face are swollen. I don't know whether I should stop it or what? Please help. ## Hello, Selina! How are you? Has there been any change? That is not a common side effect, according to reports from the U.S. FDA. They usually include weight gain, dizziness, drowsiness, and dry mouth. Hello, Got a new refill on my Losartan 25mg. which was a small green pill versus the normal oval white. I started the new ones yesterday and within a half hour of taking them I develope a headache. Stayed with me all day. Not a pounding debilitating one but just a constant nagging headache. Today I woke up fine but within a half hour of taking my pill I have a headache again. Same as yesterday. Not sure if this is being caused by something in the new pill "fillers" as they call them. Just know I never had this issue until I started the green losartan yesterday. Do I wait a few more days and risk that this is going to continue as a side effect? Not that it makes me unable to function but it is an irritation that I never had to deal with in the past on Losartan. Being the holiday ...

I refilled my rx for Carvedilol recently. It came in a bubble pack marked RX CARVEDILOL, CARCA-6.25. The pills are pink, round, and flat. One side is scored with Intas, the other side has C5 printed on it. It supposed to be a sunset yellow color, not what I was expecting (I've taken the yellow pills for 2 years). ## Since Carvedilol is a generic medication, it is manufactured by several different companies, and each company's product may look different, be sized differently, depending on the precise formula they use during manufacturing. There is no uniform way they all have to make them look. However, if you received it from a legitimate pharmacy, as a refill, then there is no reason to worry. Have you tried taking it, yet? The FDA lists the typical side effects of Carvedilol a...
