I took 20 mg amlodipine accidentally which was meant to be given to my husband. My blood pressure is usually 100/60. Now I'm worried... What could be the consequences? ## It could cause your blood pressure to drop even lower than usual, according to FDA warnings, so you may experience nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and more severe hypotension. How are you doing? Did you experience any adverse effects? Are you on any other medications?

So today is day three of not taking my blood pressure meds (Irbesartan) with Dr approval. This morning my BP was elevated to 136/96 and I have a headache. Is this normal and ok or should I be worried? ## The 96 is a little high, but nothing severely dangerous. Why did your doctor have you stop taking it and how much were you taking? The FDA warns that other withdrawal effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, and increased heart rate. ## was taking 300 mg and I had lost quite a lot of weight. My Bp has been 110/77 so we thought we’d try taking me off to see how I do. I have a Bp machine so I can watch it

ARE THESE TWO DRUGS COMPATABLE? CAN I SWITCH FROM THE 1ST TO LISINOPRIL WITHOUT ANY COMPLICATIONS? ## Looking for a cost estimate for Amlodipine for my high blood pressure. I have a prescription. ## For the original poster, these are all medications used to treat high blood pressure and some other conditions. Benazepril is the active ingredient in Lotensin is available coupled with Amlodipine under the trade name Lotrel. This combines a calcium channel blocker with an angotensin inhbitor. Lisinopril works by relaxing the blood vessels, so your heart does not have to work so hard, to lower your blood pressure. That said, many doctors commonly swich between these medications, until they find the correct one that helps control your blood pressure. You should follow their instructions for d...

My friend has been taking 20 mg lisinopril for about 3 years now. About 9 months ago during/after exercise, she began feeling really dizzy and faint to the point of passing out. She took her blood pressure and discovered it was extremely low each time it happened (e.g., 98/55, etc.). She stops taking the meds for 2-3 days, but feels faint and really awful for at least 2 to 3 days. I keep telling her to tell her doctor. How concerned should she be? ## Well, she should definitely see her doctor, because there are several possibilities of what could be causing the problem and she does need to find out which one it is, so they can remedy the situation. The first possibility is that diet and exercise are keeping her blood pressure low enough, that she no longer needs the medication. 2 to 3 d...

I have a box of amlodipine besylate tabs, but they already expired on 02/2012. Is it still safe to take them? If so, how long are they good for? ## I have a bottle of Amlodipine that expired on 1-19-17. Is it still good? The Dr just put me back on them again, but is it ok to use what I have left over first? ## Expired medications do not become dangerous, but they can lose efficacy, according to FDA, and NIH reports. Thus, they may not work as well as they did, when they were new, so it is better to see your doctor and obtain a new supply, if needed. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension. Fred, did your doctor put you back on the same dosage? Why did he put you back on them?

i am taking espin 2.5 before to go to bed. is it right way of using? ## Amlodipine is a calcium channel blocker that is most commonly used to help control high blood pressure. There is really no certain time of day that you have to take it, unless your doctor has specified otherwise. Morning or night is fine. The medication can cause side effects, such as: nausea, drowsiness, dizziness and headache. Because of that, some people prefer to take it at night, before they go to bed, that way the drowsiness and dizziness doesn't affect them during the day. Hi. My 7 year old son takes Clonidine (.1mg) once daily in the evening. He takes Concerta (37mg) in the morning. He is autistic with ADHD and anxiety. The Clonidine is to help his transition from the Concerta and to help him relax for sleep. I completely forgot to go pick up his Clonidine prescription today (it was totally my own fault), and my boyfriend took our only vehicle to work. The pharmacy is already closed. Will he be OK until tomorrow afternoon (when he gets home from school)? If not, I can have my sister go pick up his script tomorrow and take it to school... but if I do that I am worried that he will get drowsy in school. Can someone advise me on the best thing to do? I honestly don't know about this, and I am looking for some guidance. ## I know this question is from tw...

I started taking Losartan 50mg two and a half weeks ago and I have developed tinnutis, this is not a common side effect but an adverse one, I've previously been on Rampiril but didn't feel well, will this side effect go away or will it be permanent or should I change medication again, and if it's in the same family of arbs will I get it again. I'm getting quite worried, docs saying my ears look clear so don't know what to do. ## Yes, as reported by the U.S. FDA, that is a known side effect of this medication, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination and hypotension. Such side effects are usually transient and go away, once your body gets used to the medication, but that may take 4 to 6 weeks. If it doesn't improve, after that point, or if it wo...

Can peripheral neuropathy be a rare side effect of Losartan? I just cut back from 100mg/day to 50mg/day. I also get leg/foot cramps while sleeping, tightness in my calfs while walking, and just recently developed a dry cough. These other symptoms are more common - are they not? ## Hello, Joanna! How are you? No, I'm not seeing that listed anywhere among the side effects provided by the FDA, though yes, it can cause pain in some people that take it. You may also experience dizziness, nausea and increased urination. However, if you have the dry cough, you should speak to your doctor as you will most likely need to switch to a different medication. Once the coughing starts, it doesn't usually go away.
