Updated in JadelleHi I am a user of df 118s have been for over 7 years now. I have these on prescription though my local drug & addiction clinic. I get some off friends of friends sometimes and recently got some that are 6 years out of date. Im just wondering if these are still safe to take so long after the expiry date. If you have any answers please let me know. Thanks
Updated in NikkiHi all, I had mirena inserted 6 weeks after my daughter was born so July of '09 I had it in for 3 years and thought all was well. I am 24 years old and already have 3 children so in other words very fertile.Anyways I would have occasional bleeding that never felt like a real period until the third year when it stopped completely. Shortly after I started having severe cramps, fatigue, worse depression, loss of libido, fogginess, an extreme hair loss. Once the cramps started to feel like I was in labor I started to look into it. I knew it was the mirena so had it removed right away. I started bleeding very lightly 2 weeks later for only a few days, then about 6 weeks later I bled like crazy! And have had horrible cramps. I always had very light short periods before mirena and never ha...
I recently started Orsythia (2 days into my third week) and since about the second week, I've had extreme nausea on and off all day, every day. It's miserable and I was wondering if anyone else has had this same problem? I have been on ortho tricyclen before with no side effects and never had this with the depo shot either. ## Hello, Lauren! How are you feeling? It might be that this just isn't the right one for you to take. Hormonal contraceptives can usually cause some nausea, as a side effect, but it's not usually that severe. Have you consulted your doctor about it? ## I was on Nortrel and I experienced Vertigo. My doc switched me to Orsythia, but I fear it will do the same thing after reading your post.
Hi I'm 25 years old. I haven't had my period in almost three months (this month will be three) and I took numbers of test. Updated in LeenaI am 37 yrs old my doctor prescribed sprentec to help with my heavy periods due to endometriosis. How long should it take before I see results? I have been on my period for 5 days and it has not showed any signs of slowing? ## Hi, Misty! How long have you been taking the Tri Sprintec? If you just started it a few days ago, when you started your period, then it's far too soon for it to have an effect. You most likely won't see any changed until your next period. Usually, heavy periods are caused by a deficiency in Progesterone and that is very common with endometriosis, your age can also play a role, since anovulatory cycles usually start around age 35. Since this contraceptive contains both a form of estrogen and progesterone, it may help with your heavy bleeding. ## Hello I wen...
Should I be worrying? I've been taking it for 3 months now but I forgot to take it last night at my usual time. So I took 2 tonight at my usual time because that's when I realized that I didn't take it. I was on an antiobiotic for 5 days. I finished it on saturday and today is tuesday. Antibiotic can cancel out your bc's so I'm stressing. ## I don't think you should be worrying as long as your not sexually active while taking BC and antibiotics at the same time (due to the interaction you mentioned). For future reference, I also would've suggested sticking to your original dosing schedule as opposed to taking 2 pills to make up for your missed one. Reason being, is that the extra pill could offset the balance of your hormones, thus, increasing your susceptibi...
How common is it for periods to be regular past the first year and then stop or space further out? I would have been expecting it around the one year mark... Slightly nervous about pregnancy. I bled for 8 weeks after the insertion of my IUD in April 2012. Then I have had pretty regular periods (within a week) since then. They last between 7-10 days. I think I might be overdue (maybe a week). However I am really bad at tracking it. I felt a really sharp pain a few days ago and yesterday felt cramping. I thought for SURE my period would start by today. The cramping felt exactly like period cramps. Yet, today the cramps are gone and still no period. ## Well, the one predictable thing about the Mirena IUD is its unpredictability. If you made it through a year and a half with regular periods...
I have a pain in the 2 nd day of my periods & also have heavy bleeding that day ## Hello, Nish! How are you doing? That's actually normal for some women. Have you consulted your doctor? Unless they find something they feel is a problem, then it's most likely nothing to worry about. A mild pain reliever can ease the cramping, but the heavier bleeding is probably just something you'll have to deal with, unless you want to try a hormonal contraceptive to see if it helps. ## Dear all, Thanks a lot for ur reply. One of my friend is having keeloyd scars and those are coming big & biger day by day.Is there any Solution for this problem. Thanks!
I have been using a nur estarate 2 month IV and now I have not been on my period for this month. Can I be pregnant? I also drink alcohol will that effect the IV? Please help ## Hello, Blush! How are you? If you've gotten it regularly, as you're supposed to, then it isn't likely that you're pregnant, but only urine or blood labs will let you know for sure. But it can be normal to skip your period, when you're using a hormonal contraceptive. Have you discussed the issue with your doctor? ## Thank you for replying, I asked the nurse and she said it could be normal, this is my 2nd month missing my period and I keep on having headaches and nausea but I have never missed my injection I am sooo scared :-(
Today was my first day taking birth control ever I took the pill at nine this morning but I want to take it at night. Can I take it at seven tomorrow night? ## Ye, when you're just starting, it's really not going to make a big difference to delay the next one by a few hours. If you're on your period, because you started it the first day of it, it'll make no difference, at all. If you're not, because you started it at some other point in your cycle, then just be a little extra cautious and wait until you've taken 7 in a row at the new 7pm time, before risking unprotected intercourse. Is there anything else I can help with? ## No that was it thank you:)
I have been taking Loestrin 24 Fe for about 5 months and usually when I get to start the new pack I start immediately but I have been off of it for 7 Days and ave not even spotted. I have taking a at home test and it has been negative. Could I be pregnant?? ## If you're actively engaging in intercourse, there's alway a chance of getting pregnant, though it's not very likely if the test was negative. Irregularities can be normal when using hormonal contraceptives, but you should consult your doctor to be certain. Some women stop getting periods when taking this one, so it's possible that it's just a normal thing. Have you contacted your doctor, yet?
Hi I'm nthabiseng and I have just started using oralcon...it was given to me by a nurse/sister at the clinic, she told me to take it same day given to me after I told her I took my periods two weeks back and as I read the intruction it states you must take them on the first day of your periods.....my question is that (will it work preventing me from being pregnant or not).....I'm a bit CONFUSED because I did as intructed at the clinic!!! ## If you start taking them on the first or second day of your period, then you will be immediately protected from pregnancy. However, if you start them at any other time during your cycle, they must be taken for a full 7 days, without missing any tablets, in order for them to reach their efficacy level in your body and protect you from pregnancy...
Hi all, I just had a few questions about my birth control. I started taking Lo Loestrin Fe a month ago, and my gyno directed me to start with the white pill on the first day of my period and go through the two white, two brown, and through the blue. I finished my last blue pill yesterday, and no sign of period yet. I was spotting randomly during the month of taking the pills which is normal according to side effects and I have had unprotected intercourse twice in the month (yes he did come in me, I know, not smart) well after the first week of taking the pills. I don't think I'm pregnant only because I'm not showing any signs, (but I will take a test and check!!) but I am showing signs of my period, which should be coming today or tonight. So my question is, if my period doe...
I have been on tri sprintec for four yrs. Always worked like clockwork every month. This month finished pack and no period. Felt like I was going to start but never did. But I went ahead and started new pack just to be safe. ## Hello, Debidoo! How are you doing? Skipping a period can sometimes happen when you're taking these, because you are adding hormones to your body, plus your own natural hormonal fluctuations can have an affect. Have you consulted your doctor? It would be best to discuss it with them, to rule out any other problems, but generally just skipping once, here and there, isn't considered harmful and many women do it deliberately when taking oral contraceptives to skip their periods at times when having one would be inconvenient.
I've been taking Lo Lo Esterin Fe for a little over a year now and get pretty regular periods. I missed only one pill one time, and followed the directions on the pack. Recently, my periods have been nonexistent or very light and different. But only for the past two months. I know some people don't get the period on this pill, but is it possible to have normal periods and then have them stop? I've also been under a lot of stress lately. Hope it's not pregnancy! ## They are hormonal based contraceptives, so yes, this type of thing can happen, even if it's new for you. Learn more oral contraceptive details here. The stress could also be affecting it, as well as changes in diet, exercise or anything else you've recently adjusted in your life. However, if you're ...
I am getting ready to start a pack of Lo Loestrin FE, I am not due to have a cycle in about 2 weeks. If I start the pack on Sunday as directed will I start my period early? I noticed some have experienced spotting when first starting or it brought on a period. I thought the blue pills is whats stops your period. Thanks :-) ## These are hormonal based contraceptives, so it is possible to experience some breakthrough bleeding, when you start taking them. It's just a side effect of your body adjusting to the hormones. Breakthrough bleeding can include light spotting or a full flow similar to a period. This can happen for as long as the first 3 months. If you start them on the first day of your next period, they would prevent ovulation and you'll be immediately protected from pregna...
I started loestrin 24 on the 5th day of my period and would like to know how long until it is effective. The nurse practitioner said one full packet of pills but that conflicts with almost everything else Ive heard or read. Any advice/opinions/info appreciated. ## Loestrin 24 (active ingredients Ethinyl Estradiol + Norethindrone Acetate) is different with everyone. Some cases are 14 days and other cases are one month. With most birthcontrols it is recomended to use other forms of birthcontrol during the first month (ie condoms). In my opinion I would still use protection while taking Loestrin 24 for at least a month, better safe than sorry. Do you have any more questions or concerns, please post back and I would be happy to help. ## i have been on loestrin 24 fe for now alomost 2 months...
I’ve been in Loestrinf for 5 months now, always take the pill at the same time every day. This month I didn’t get my period. I missed one of the white pills one day, but I read in the information of the pill that it does not matter and that one does not have to use another contraceptive method. I still did not have sex for a week after I forgot to take that pill. I always have unprotected sex and my bf always finishes inside me. I have never had a problem before. So again, this month I did not get my period so I took three pregnancy tests. One I took it the day after I started the sugar pills, the other one I took it more or less three days into the sugar pills and the third one I took it after I had finish the sugar pills. All three came negative, ...
