I'm confused ## Hello, Kimmy! How are you? You should just continue that pack, as normal. Irregularity can be a normal side effect of taking hormonal contraceptives, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience nausea, headache, dizziness, irritability and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?
My depo shot just ended . I got it o December 8th, 3 months would make March 8th. If I were to be pregnant and didn't know and started taking Sprintec, what would happen to the baby? ## Hello, Candace! How are you? It would be best to check for pregnancy, before starting the oral contraceptive, if you have reason to suspect that you might be pregnant. However, oral contraceptives will not end an existing pregnancy, if you start them and are pregnant. The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrough bleeding and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

so I started lo loestrin fe 3 months ago. before starting I had never missed a period and they always came on the predicted days. When I started the pills, the first 2 packs I got my period on the white and brown pills like normal. Now, I ended my 3rd pack and still no period. This morning I started my first blue pill on the 4th pack. I am just slightly worried because I never got a period and something like this has never happened to me. I had intercourse but it was always protected. plus, I am very good about taking my pills at the exact same time each day. but once in the third month I took my pill like 4 hours late. also I have had a really odd sleeping schedule, could that throw things off? I feel like I could start at any moment. I have cramps down there that feel like period cram...

I m on lamictal and doxycycline and my obgyn didn t tell me it can effect my birth control, but I read that specifically lamictal and antibiotics can effect bc? ## Hello, Bre! How are you? Yes, you would continue straight into another pack, even if it's not on a Sunday. The FDA lists the common side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, weight changes and PMS-like symptoms. Doxycycline can reduce the efficacy of oral contraceptives, so you should be using a backup method of contraception, while taking it. The typical side effects of this antibiotic may possibly include nausea, dizziness, he...
I've been on lo loestrin fe for two months. I've been on lamictal for about a year, doxycycline for acne, and I was on amoxicillin for my sinus infection. I take my birth control anywhere from 8am to 11am, sometimes a little later if I forget. I read that these medications can cancel out the protection of lo loestrin fe? My obgyn hasn't said anything to me and I feel like maybe she didn't read close enough. How important is the timing of taking birth control? Am I protected on the days where I'm supposed to not take the pill so I get my period? What are the chances of me being pregnant? I am sexually active and am 19. Please nobody criticize me.
Updated in Lo Loestrin FeHi, I was on sprintec for nearly 4 years and everything was fine when I was on it. But do to health problems with my gallbladder I had to quit taking it. It's been nearly 4 months and I still haven't had a normal period. I think I had one that lasted 3 days and then another one about a week ago that only lasted one day. Is this normal since I was on it for so long? ## Hello, Lauren! How are you? Yes, it can take several months for your body to balance your hormones back out on its own. It was used to relying on the oral contraceptives to control them. However, as long as your last pap smear was normal and your doctor sees no reason to be concerned, then it's nothing to worry about. According to the FDA, you may experience other withdrawal effects, such as irritability, PMS-l...
If i started sprintec a week ago on monday with out me being on my period and stopped today on a monday can it prevent me from getting pregnant? ## Hello, Brittney! How are you? No, if you start it later than the second day of your period, it takes a full 7 days for it to become effective at preventing pregnancy and it is only effective as long as you continue taking it. That's why some women have gotten pregnant from just forgetting to take one of them. The FDA lists the typical side effects of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, breakthrough bleeding and PMS-like symptoms. Is there anything else I can help with?

My fiancé and i are intimate and i know there's always a chance of getting pregnant when you have intercourse. But what are the chances of me being pregnant now? My breast are sore. Im still putting weight on. I want to eat all the time. I am moody. My fiancé thinks I'm pregnant but those are also side effects i read about others having. I am so confused. I took a pregnancy diagnostic last week and it was negative. I stopped taking the pill the first week in my new pack. I have a doctor's appt monday. But what are the odds? ## Have you had intercourse, without using some other form of protection, since you stopped taking it? ...
if i drink alcoho taking this pill can i get prego? ## Hello, Mayra! How are you? No, alcohol is not known to alter the efficacy of oral contraceptives. However, indulging in alcohol while taking it may cause you to experience more side effects than usual, so you may feel more dizzy, drowsy, nauseous and irritable than usual, as listed by the FDA. You should also check with your doctor to make sure that it is safe for you to imbibe. Is there anything else I can help with?
Ok so my period usually last 5 days I started my period Tues and I wanted to stop it so I took the blue sprintec pill and now my period still on and heavy I never been on any type of birth control what should I do now to stop it ## Hello, Marie! How are you? Unless your doctor has some other solution, you'll most likely just have to let it runs its course, so it stops on its own. One oral contraceptive tablet isn't enough to stop it, to help control your cycle, they need to be taken regularly. By taking one, you've thrown off your hormonal balance, so your period may be remain heavier and last a little longer than usual. The FDA lists possible side effects as including nausea, dizziness, headache, weight gain, irritability and break through bleeding. If you want more control...
Hi, I have been taking tri sprintec for about two months.. I'm on my 4th week (Placebo pill) of my second pack. Today was my 4th inactive pill, and I just wanted to know if i had unprotected sex and he climaxed inside me, if their was any chance of me being pregnant? (Today i took my pill about 45 mins late) and throughout the two months i have taken the pill about an hour late 2 or maybe 3 times at most.
Updated in SprintecSo I haven't had a period for a while and I had to stop birth control and I was wondering is it OK to have a light period and short one? ## Hi maria, Based on what I've seen other women post here (including my fiancé), a short period doesn't appear to be too uncommon and in most general cases shouldn't spark up any concerns; especially after coming off something like birth control - which alters your hormones and therefore has an impact on your menstrual cycle (since the two are directly related in many ways). So if you ask me, my opinion is that everything should normalize as the body begins to adjust to not having the added hormones from contraceptives. However, it may just be another month before you have a chance to see the difference as things gradually level o...
I always have a hard time of taking my pills at its exact time but this time it was a different story. Ive been busy because of my thesis and i forgot to take the 14th pill of my 28 day contraceptive pill. Without noticing that i haven't taken the 14th, i continued to take the 15th and 16th pill, but i was not able to take the 17th also and had intercourse that night. so it means that ive missed 2 pills not in a row.. The following morning, as soon as I noticed it i took the 14th, the 17th in the evening and the 18th at dawn. What are the chances of getting pregnant in this case? Does anyone have experience with this and still didn't get prego? HELP! HELP! HELP! I am so freaking out because im about to graduate and this should not be the time to get pregnant :-(
UpdatedI have been gaining weight and I have an IUD MIRENA in me and I don't know what to do. Is there any possible way for me to not gain weight???? #PLEASEHELPME ## Hello, Monica! How are you? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. No, but generally hormonal contraceptives only cause a gain of about 10 pounds. The only thing you can really do is eat a healthy, balanced diet and make sure that you get lots of proper exercise. How much have you gained? Other side effects may include nausea, headache, acne, irritability, PMS-like symptoms and breakthrough bleeding.
I've been on birth control for about 7 years. Never have I missed a period. I started my pack as normal and my boyfriend and I had sex during this week and didn't use protection. Went on and took week 2 and 3 but missed Thursday's pill in week 3 but made it up Friday morning and I am now on my Thursday night sugar pill week 4 and nothing...no period. I've always gotten it on Tuesday so I'm not sure what to do. I did take a pregnancy test this morning (Thursday) and it was negative. I also have cramps and symptoms of my period.

I am stopping taking it today to see If I get a period since I have intentionally skipped it for probably the last 3 or 4 months.
Updated in Lo Loestrin FeFor the past 2 months, my period has started 1 or 2 days before the light blue inactive pills. Is this normal? ## Hello, Jenn! How are you? Yes, that can happen and is generally nothing to worry about, as long as your most recent pap smear was normal. Unless your doctor feels that there is some reason to be concerned. Aside from breakthrough bleeding, the FDA lists the other side effect of oral contraceptives as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, irritability, PMS-like symptoms and weight gain.
