Stopping Sprintec
UpdatedHi, I was on sprintec for nearly 4 years and everything was fine when I was on it. But do to health problems with my gallbladder I had to quit taking it. It's been nearly 4 months and I still haven't had a normal period. I think I had one that lasted 3 days and then another one about a week ago that only lasted one day. Is this normal since I was on it for so long?

Hello, Lauren! How are you?
Yes, it can take several months for your body to balance your hormones back out on its own. It was used to relying on the oral contraceptives to control them. However, as long as your last pap smear was normal and your doctor sees no reason to be concerned, then it's nothing to worry about.
According to the FDA, you may experience other withdrawal effects, such as irritability, PMS-like symptoms and cramping.
Is there anything else I can help with?
