Big Pharma's Lockdown On Legitimate Chronic Pain Patients (Page 58)

Updated

Is narcotic pain medicine becoming a thing of the past?

Why are doctors across America phasing out the practice of prescribing effective pain medication?

Will big pharmaceutical companies ever truly understand what it's like to face the other side of the coin?

Lately there's been a musty scent in the air surrounding the use of prescribed narcotic pain medication. Many doctors appear to be running scared as the DEA scours through fields of medical records, inspecting prescribing pads like a mouse scavenges for food in a dimly lit cellar.

Should the day come when doctors recommend Ibuprofen to a feeble man who's been involved in a terrible car accident (breaking several bones / requiring extensive surgery), is this doctor at risk of malpractice when there are more effective options available that they choose not to pick, out of fear? Fear of what? Doing the right thing? No, I don't think this is the reason... Somewhere along the line, in the not too distant past, doctors were loosely prescribing narcotic pain medication as if it would never go out of style. Nowadays, the harsh penalty of potentially losing their license for writing any unknown number of opiate prescriptions over so many calendar days or some other form of strict criteria, has been enough to prevent many physicians from taking even subtle "risks" with patients who are expressing obvious signs of pain and discomfort.

The unfortunately unique problem with pain is that it's not a physical object and in order for others to detect it, they'd have to rely solely on the backbone of our body language using their intuition - something that's gone missing in western practice. If more doctors took the time and really got to know their patients front to back, then they will be their own best judge of deciding what the right thing to do is, regardless of what the DEA thinks about their decision or what their drug representative wants out of the deal. Sadly, until patients are put before profits, the foundation of America's healthcare system remains in jeopardy like an iceberg affected by global warming.

While I believe that the vast majority of human beings in their right mind would choose to do the right thing, we must all work together to become the change we wish to see within every aspect of our lives; and knowing that by doing so, it will shine light on those crossing our path that need it most.

In the meantime, some patients may have to find another way to manage their pain without putting their life or health at risk. Others are turning to natural alternatives such as kratom, cannabis, turmeric and/or implementing various lifestyle changes into their daily regime... But the key is to never give up hope.

What will you do?

Warm regards to all who face life's challenges head on.

Yes all of this was on 60 minutes. He even prescribed a large amount of Percocet to a pregnant woman. He didn’t deny any of the charges. He said these protocols were recommended in the past.

Sorry this took so long to reply. I missed your response back to me. Yes, I was on pain meds when I tried Kratom. How long do you have to be off for them to work? How many should I take to replace 15 mg MS Contin? Is there any other info you could give me like who is a reputable source? Which color should I take? I ordered the Green MaDeng (sp). I ordered them online. Is that the only way to get them? Thanks for your help!

I am very interested in Kratom as I need some relief.. The doctor I found is sketchy, he does not prescribe meds properly.. I will be looking and where do we find it and is it expensive? I tried CBD oil it worked the first day but not with pain but mood. I went to the ER in April for Clonidine to get off Percocet. I am now being detoxed off Clonidine. You get addicted to it or your body does. I am going through hell. I was told to come off it slow. My new doctor is only giving me one a night. Your heart gets use to it and I was told not to cut back quickly. My heart is beating hard and fast and it makes your blood pressure go crazy. I am afraid I will die here alone. Pharmacist says one thing doctor says another.

I refuse most drugs, but all recognize medical doctors are:
1. Trained to use them and so complicated they may not remember how many of each.
2. Make a living from their practice and some related to a pharmacy to make profits from.
3. Some patients expect drugs to heal, or are addicted to them. If the doctors does not prescribe
what the patience demands he will lose a patient and earn less money.

The crackdown mostly started happening back in 2010-2011. Most of the 'pill mills' are a thing of the past. What we are dealing with now is the fallout of the criminal element spilling over and affecting the proven, documented pain patients who had been taking these prescriptions for many years. Lumping everyone in with the criminal element of the so called crisis should be illegal, as it is definitely against our Bill of Rights and the Hippocratic Oath every Doctor has to Swear To...

Marvin, well said and it explains why we are in this difficult situation. Its not right for they have made PM doctors afraid to prescribe what's needed and how much..my last PM dr I say yes he still prescribes pain meds but I can tell he is very cautious when I asked him back in june to give me percocet 10s and muscle relaxers because I wanted to try to detox myself off subs. He first said very quietly to me I don't know why you want to do this, I can give u up to 4 subs a day with no problem but with percs, I can give you only 3 a day. So I said ok...I tried it, it was hard, so I asked can I have 4 a day... I'm in pain again. He tapped me on the back and said very quietly ok but I dont think I can give you much more, so I continue to try, by the 10th day I was so sick I just gave up and tried again later..so I do know why now it didn't work. But I looked up how many times a day a doctor can give of percs and it say up to 6 a day..so I dont get it. It sounds like the doc is just afraid to give or if I kept on this and continued would he eventually be able to go up one more to 5 a day..it sure worked at the beginning I kept asking for an increase dosage and got it every time. idk I'm thinking of it again or just remain where I'm at. I turned to kratom because I was so scared of this opioid crisis that soon it will be absolutely impossible to get. Some states will not allow anyone a pain pill..oh and now the government knows how and what kratom can do. They are trying to ban it now but the American kratom association ppl are fighting back. Donate money to them, they have quite a few lawyers on this case now proving that kratom does work..well the government wants to get ahold of this now. They know what it can do and if they get it into their hands its will only profit them more in the big pharma system..watch and see. Thx.

I live in CT., and will be having hernia surgery again. I expect my surgeon to prescribe a pain medication. Will I be denied a narcotic? I do not care about receiving oxycodone. I believe it is the doctor patient relationship and he has operated on me five times in the past.

Every states laws are different. If I was you I would ask my doctor before agreeing to the surgery. I think most states allow at least a 5-7 day prescription. Since you have a prior history with this doctor without any issues, I’m sure he will keep you comfortable post-op. Call him but explain that you’ve heard all these reports that surgery patients aren’t being properly treated for their pain and you are concerned. Just don’t make it sound like you are a drug seeker in any way. Don’t ask for a specific drug or dose by name unless you have allergies. If you had adequate pain control with the last surgery tell him that. Your anesthesiologist will probably want to do a nerve block an hour or so before you are taken to the operating room. They work to numb the nerves that are involved around your surgery site. They are helpful for postop pain for the first 24-36 hours to decrease the amount of narcotic that is needed. You are usually sedated during this procedure as the injections are uncomfortable. Good luck!

I live in southwest Florida where the opioid epidemic began. I to was one of those people that abused. I can tell you for sure we still have no problem getting at least lortab 10s and percocet 10s now mind you the most we have been able to get it 5 aday. I know this for fact because my son gets them from pain management. And not to long ago in June I needed percocet 10s x 4 daily I was trying to detox off subutex I tried for 10 days and still could not do it. The dr kept increasing a extra one a week until I got up to 5 day and gave up. He said he could still keep increasing the dosage I said no because I was getting better pain relief from the subutex and the doctors don't have a problem prescribing those to a max of 4 8mg a day that is the most amount someone can get and its 20x stronger than morphine alone you just don't get that somewhat high off it like one would get a good warm feeling from pain pills. I now use kratom which a doctor does not prescribe and I get more pain relief than I have on pain pills. Its crazy a plant could do that.. but its true. If you follow anything about kratom you will notice they are trying to ban it and the FDA and government have noticed it's good effects it has and now wants it in their hands. In some states its already illegal. I live in Florida and I'm in the port Charlotte area, a mile away from me it's banned. Thank god it's not in my area..once the FDA gets this into their hands then again they will control it and I can tell you that's not a good thing.

Where can you get to try kratom? Ask me anything. Or go to leaf of life botanicals. There are three main types, a red for pain and sedation, a white for energy mood lift, a green is inbetween the red and white. Green is the best. But for super pain relief a red vein is the best. I mentioned these colors because the kratom plant leaves have veins and they are red, white and green..I'm serous, what could it hurt to check it out. I will mention kratom is somewhat of a selfish plant and wants to be the only one working for you. But you can use it inbetween your doses of pain pills. You will not notice much until you start to lower your dose and before you know it you will find yourself taking less pain pills and kratom will be doing its job. Please ask me anything, I'm here for you. Thx.

The three vendors I use are leaf of life botanicals or greenhouse botanics or bookoo botanics, I mostly use leaf of life. They are the best I think anyway..{edited for privacy}. its very hard to explain to someone new to it because of trial and error. There are a few ways to take kratom and everyone will mostly agree kratom tastes bad, alot of them will do a what's called a toss n wash. It's the best way. Others will make their capsules themselves like I do. Because if you pay for capsules it's wayy more expensive so we do them ourselves..then you can buy these edible discs on Amazon and that's probably a better choice than capsules..I'm happy to help you out.

What a great statement you made at the end of your post with john..about how now everyone has to suffer with pain because of this opioid crisis happening now..you mentioned even the legit patients who have real pain has to suffer to it's all lumped together. It's TRUE, it shouldn't be. And it's very wrong and makes me very sad. Because I'm one of those people that Abused and I live in Florida where it all began. I used to get at first of my addiction is lotab 7.5 x 6 aday..then a sister introduced me to percocet 10s and found a doctor who prescribed me to take 2x every 4 hours..now I used to see pain management clinics everywhere you would look sise by side and every corner. I remember I used to see the doc and got in my car to drive a short distance to the pharmacy I used to think huh..I just saw that guy at the drs. As I wait another one came in that I just saw to at the doctor's. I didn't think to much about back then other than I guess alot of ppl must use the same pharmacy. Then I remember noticing that some pharmacies were just a step away from the doctor's..I remember seeing like 4 vans at the doctor's full of people I didn't know why back then because I definitely was not one that sold my pills for profit the few I was able to get were mine only.

I didn't have a good marriage and didn't know how to make it on my own so I used the pain medication to numb my pain...however those pills got me in trouble in more ways than one I'm not proud of. But as I read these post I feel very badly that I was one who helped contribute what pain patients are going through now..but I'd have to say those Van's full of people I used to think to myself how come there are so many people in them ..I know why now. Even tho I'm here in Florida everyone used to say to me it's easy to get pills. But for me it was not easy I was always afraid to ask for the good pills meaning what if I ask and get none. So I never experienced those oxy, I never even seen one. My lortab and percocet is all I abused, its enough tho. I should be grateful I didn't have to detox off all the supposedly good stuff...so I'm trying to say I'm sorry and something has to happen because all you good people who are suffering from the junkies who sold the pills for good money. I hear they used to get anywhere around 30 to 60 dollars a piece, wow, its unreal the amount of money they made.

Then it definitely sounds like you would benefit from kratom. Try a green veined one. It helps with pain, mood lifting, anxiety and the list goes on. Now vendors sell all kinds of names to there kratom, so if you bump into one you can ask me. But this is how it is, 3 main colors: red, green and white..Just remember red is for pain and sedation, white is for energy and green is in between both..you will notice this once you go to a vendor's site. You can always ask them for advice too.

Well damn I'm glad I didn't stay on clonadine long only 2 months I definitely feel sorry for what your going through and everyone in this group seem do be suffering so badly. It seems unfair that they would keep pain medication away from the people who really happened to need it they should leave the doctors alone and let them treat and prescribe medacine that what they went to collage for if I were a pain management dr. Or any doctor for that matter I'd be furious. They paid alot of money for college and now they are afraid to write a script to the people that he has been working with .. the doctor is not blind and if he thinks they need medication he should be able to do so in the comfort of his office

Re: Claude (# 1142) Expand Referenced Message

See that's why kratom didn't work for you. It's a very selfish plant and want to be the only one working for you. Now when I was detoxing off percocet 10s I had a friend guide me too because I was also new to it. A girl told me to order red bali so I ordered 500 grams, but after playing around with kratom I found out I like the greens the best, like a green maeng da or a green Kong Kong, I heard that's the best and it is because you get great mood lift and pain relief... I save my reds for night time..and I never buy them in capsules. I cap them myself, it's way cheaper. I do it by hand or they sell machines. Now I was told to take my pain pill first and an hour later take the krarom. And you can take the krarom as much as you need for relief, just dont take very large doses at first. If you do the most that will happen is nausea..so I took around 3 teaspoons, as much as I needed. And just keep doing it. The more you let kratom do its job the less pain pills, you will notice actually skipping doses of your medication. And I found myself liking the kratom more than the pills. Heroin users use kratom to detox successfully so I kept thinking if they can do it I should be able to do it. A lot of people have detoxed off pills using kratom. So you can give it another try and see. Just remember if you have alot of pills in your system kratom will not work. I tried it before I detoxed. I ran short of my pain pills and I couldn't believe it, it worked. I wasn't up to par, but I definitely did not have withdrawals either. I have been through way to many withdrawals and it's no fun at all.. so no more withdrawals for me. I will use kratom instead.
