Best Generic Adderall Brands (Page 19) (Top voted first)
UpdatedIs the round pink 30 mg Adderall generic name Sandoz/Eon with the markings of CDR 136 on one side more or less effective than the oval orange 30 mg Adderall generic name Barr/Teva with the markings of b974 on one side and 30 on the other side? What is the most effective/potent Adderall that is generic and 30 mg?
Re: helper (# 602)
You find the Sandoz IR to be definitely better than the TEVA IR? I have an opportunity to get the Sandoz IR 30 mg from a Pharmacy in my area, but have heard that even Sandoz changed their formula and they are not nearly as good as they once were. Please let me know I’m going crazy playing this shell game. The only Pharma with Sandoz IR is a Kaiser pharmacy and it is 90$ to fill in comparison to 23$ for TEVA at Walgreens. I do not mind paying the extra 60$, but I’m nervous. This s*** is ridiculous.
Re: Erica (# 607)
I had been taking Teva since Corepharma was discontinued, but I just got an Rx for Mylan 20mg. I took my first dose today. So far it's "smooth" and didn't "punch me in the face." The come down doesn't seem to be as harsh but I won't know for sure til this evening. I've been able to focus without the nasty side effects that I get with Teva, such as foggy head, confusion & forgetfulness. Mylan seems like it could be a promising alternative. I'll know more after I've been taking it longer but that's what I've noticed so far. Best of luck to you! I hope it helps you with your ADD.
Re: Comments Submitted (# 610)
I got Mylan for the first time this month based on reviews from this thread and my personal experience has been NOTHING...literally feels like nothing. I am interested in trying Teva next month, but ODDLY, there have been so many CRAZY reviews on weight gain, I am SUPER reluctant. Thought?
Re: Mandy (# 611)
Sorry Mandy. The new Sandoz formula is garbage. Teva is a much better choice... Actually, one or 2 of the 30 - 30mg pills (which I paid 90$ for at a Kaiser Permanente in Denver) worked AMAZING, like the old formula. I’m thinking I got a few tabs from before the formula change. I decided to go the XR route this month and shell out the 200$ for brand (this is with an RX discount, mind you). Maaaaan. Before the Teva reformulation, it would cost me 30$ for 60, 30mg IR tabs that worked amazing, and lasted longer than the current Sandoz XR formula. It’s a shell game. It’s f****d, but I’m sick of playing it. Brand Name XR, and Teva IR for me it is.
Re: MauMaMa (# 628)
I am in the same boat. After having good experiences with Sandoz 2 years ago, I was struggling to find a generic with similar efficacy when they discontinued their IR product. When I found them at Costco recently, I couldn't believe what I was seeing and filled my prescription right away. However that led to a whole month of nothing but muscle aches, anxiety, and no focus or mood elevation. Sandoz is not what it used to be and feels very much like my experience with Aurobindo. Prior to this Sandoz experience I was doing quite well with Mylan. I am now stuck waiting until my next refill so I get back to Mylan and being productive at work again.
Re: Freddy (# 631)
Same here. Sandoz used to be the absolute best for me, however last 2 months I have filled their new product and it has not been good. In fact it is the least effective Adderall I have taken, with pronounced side effects that lasted late in to my evenings.
I'm stuck with using what left over Teva and Mylan I had from previous fills, until I can get a new prescription in July.
Re: Demi (# 3)
Have you considered lys-dexedrine called Vyvanse. It is smoother than the adderall. Remember to take plenty of vitamin B and a small amount of antacid; like baking soda with water. If you feel like turning off the amphetamine try some diluted vinegar. These additions used to be given with the original datasheet - before they stopped giving people information.
As far as dextroamphetamine with l-lysine I have head excellent results, the dose is usually smaller but it fixes the racemix amphetamine syndrome (i.e., the ``crash'') from adderall. I tried adderall and stopped taking it because dexadrine is so much smoother. Best of luck...
Re: steve (# 645)
But if you’re taking adderall for chronic fatigue, that seems counter productive! I have taken Vyvanse before, but after so many years of 30mg 2/day of Add. the 40mg of Vy. seemed like air. I have also judged weaned from 300mg of Effexor IR (venlaflax) to 75 with 20 mg of Prozac, so along with the SH**TY gen. Add, I feel like an EMPTY BAG OF BONES!
"Taking Adderall for chronic fatigue and fibryomyalgia DOES seem counter productive"
Actually to me it does not. I have heard many people that suffer from chronic pain benefit from stimulants. I am very glad to hear that something helps you. I imagine the adderall makes getting out of bed a bit easier.
I once new a woman who was prescribed methadone (!) for pain. It took her six months before she looked/felt better. She also started to take adderall. The problem was, at that time and mostly now: opiates = drug seeker. She wanted off the methadone and they called her a drug seeker... She is now fine.
"it was like a lightbulb switched on. I was able to move more, my muscles felt warm and the pain dissipated."
This make sense to me. I am very glad to hear that you have found some relief from your suffering.
"That's one of the frustrating parts of the vast difference in the generic meds, it also vastly effects the therapeutic value for whatever it treats in me"
Vastly is an understatement! The generic drugs do not require evaluations and they can vary by 20% active material, that is 120% to 80%! Not to mention the non-active ingredients that could cause more problems then they're worth.
From the FDA website: "Generic drugs also tend to cost less than their brand-name counterparts because generic drug applicants do not have to repeat animal and clinical (human) studies that were required of the brand-name medicines to demonstrate safety and effectiveness."
Scary...
"although generic medicines have the same therapeutic effect as their branded counterparts,"
This is a very tricky statement. therapeutic effect has nothing to do with bioavailabily, as the latter quote, they are not required to under go evaluations.
"Oddly, I read about research that claims many children with add/adhd go on to develop cfs/fibro as adults. Crazy, huh?"
No, not to me. Researchers are usually trying to prove something, it's hard to remove bias from a study.
You want crazy! FDA website:
"The label is the same as the brand-name medicine's label."
What the !!! Can you imagine buying a bottle of advil and one of the pills is mislabeled? With controlled substance that is acceptable.
I feel you pain about the changes in adderall. I took it many moons ago and stopped because I found it to be too strong. Now they have a time released amphetamine - like why on earth would anyone need that?
Re: Dawn (# 638)
After trying so many generic Adderall, I remembered the Vyvance 70mg I took before all these horrible pills that made me hungry and sleepy and useless— I found a couple of capsules left over and like you said— they really help so I will follow your helpful lead and discuss it with my Dr and insurance, unless there is still a program you can qualify for FREE BRAND NAME VYVANCE! It is the best for me- no questionable ingredients! Thanks for mentioning it!!!
Re: MLR (# 659)
Yes they still have the round pink 30mg marked with 345, they arent around often in pharmacies, usually they are Teva round or oval shape in orange .. last month was the 1st time they stocked them at my pharmacy again.. and they do work better than the 30 mg teva .. idk why but those just work best for me as well..
Re: Katie (# 667)
I did and I’m still doing it and so tired of it...I’m thinking to wean myself off of it cuz I can’t find no brand even close to CorePharma Adderall round pink 20mg with COR on one side and 136 on the other side.
It’s a shame i won’t have a life now cuz all the others I have tried are CRAP and comes from India probably sugar pills if you asked me!
Re: MLR (# 679)
So these aren't causing you any migraines, or nausea or other bad side effects? When I looked up Mallinkrodt Adderall this seemed to be the consensus on other forums. The side effects were flu-like symtoms for many. It's good to know there is some positive because my pharmacy knows how I am about particular brands and warned me they only had these available when I get my next refill :(
Re: DHerm66 (# 677)
I can't take Corr Pharm, as it made me want to slit my wrists. I prefer Teva 30 and 20’s. Not what they use to be
Re: NURSEwithADDandFIBROMYALGIA (# 5)
I also have fibromyalgia. I have been taking Adderall and I do the same. Wake up and take one and fall back to sleep. I then awake feeling like I’m halfway normal, instead of the horrible sluggish feeling that weighs me down to the point of depression. The Adderall helps me to focus on something besides my pain, so it also works as an antidepressant for me. I was hit head-on by a semi truck 8 years ago so have many other pain issues as well. Last May I had the flu and stopped taking my pain pills because I would just throw them up. I went in for my appointment and they took a U/A and since they found only a very small amount they shut me off and no longer would they see me as their patient. Not even for the shot in my back. Since my psychiatrist gives me Adderall and Vyvanse it is impossible to find a pain dr that will prescribe pain medicine. I have tried many different varieties of Adderall from different manufacturers. For me, the ‘corr‘ round pink worked the best. Can’t find them anywhere. So I will see if my pharmacist will help and order them. Thank you for your post!!
Although Teva can be “hit or miss” out of all Adderall IR generics I have tried,
Teva is the best.
Avoid Mallinckrodt at all costs!!
Re: Info (# 693)
I was given Teva 30 mg. this month (3/2022) after using a different one for a few years. Teva used to be very effective and smooth; now I am nervous, anxious and unmotivated with it. They have changed it for the much worse.
Teva and Aurobindo are two bad generics but they’re bad in a different way. Aurobindo has a bad and angry mood effect, but it actually works, but the side effects were so bad I switched pharmacies. Teva is like taking a sugar pill, and I’m really not convinced that it’s not one. I went back to Aurobindo for a month and it was night and day. Mallinckrodt XR has a bad mood effect as well but not as dramatic. Never had a problem with any other brand. Been taking over 20 years
Re: Rcma (# 701)
Has anyone tried the Epic pharma genetics that supposedly bought out the old CorePharma formula, but have a different insignia on the pill Epic pharma supposedly bought out corepharma and has released their own version which look the same but say E135 on them I Believe instead of the old CorePharma’s “Cor 136”. Same color as the CorePharma, and same shape and cross-imprint on the back of the tablet like the Sandoz ones.
Re: JPMUSIC (# 704)
Seems like all the substitutions are crap according to these forums. It's never been more frustrating in my recollection. I honestly don't remember the last time I DIDN'T feel like I was taking a placebo.
The only choices you have imo are to:
1. Call Teva generics and ask if they're actually manufacturing and shipping. Sometimes they say they're on backorder for ingredients and can't manufacture. They're helpful in my experience.
2. CARDINAL, MCKESSON and AMERISOURCEBERGEN supply almost every pharmacy. Find a supplier who has Teva.
3. Then find a pharmacy that uses that supplier.
Insane? Yes it's totally insane and it's all about $$. Why else would GoodRx cash price be double at CVS and Walgreens than almost everyone else? Suppliers send what the pharmacy will pay. A local pharmacist once told me that he paid huge differences between manufacturer/brand.
People have success with Costco I hear.
