I have a yeast infection and u unary tract infection Can I use this drug for both ? ## Hi, Kisha! Sorry about the health issues, I hope they clear up soon. And no, this is an antibiotic that treats bacterial infections, so it will not treat a yeast infection. These medications can actually cause them by killing off the beneficial bacteria in our bodies. Learn more Bactrim details here. And it may not be the right medication to clear up your urinary tract infection, or you may not have enough if you only have leftovers from a prior infection. Hello everyone. I'm trying to compile a list of people who've experienced adverse reactions and life changing side effects from medicine. I lost my mother last year due to a medication she was taking, that caused cancer. I'm now on a mission to help save other people's lives and the spread awareness about the potential dangers of the medications we take daily. If you don't mind, could you list a medicine that has impacted your life in a bad way, what medicine it was, and what problems it caused you. I will also be drafting a petition to the drug makers, the FDA and whomever else I can. Thank you everyone. ## Hello, Erica! How are you? I am so very sorry about the loss of your mother, that's just such a tragic thing to occur from a medication that is supposed to h...

Hi I rescued a horse and it has a puncture wound in her breast area looks like maybe for a t post can I give her Bactrim DS 800-160 tab and if so how many should I crush in her food?? Thanks!! ## Hi CC, Sorry to hear about your horses condition. From what little bit I'm finding, some people suggest giving one 800/160 mg. Bactrim tablet per 100 lbs of horse (basing their dosage on the weight of the horse). Although I'd imagine this number could vary greatly depending on the severity of the condition. I also realize you posted this almost a week ago, but it sounds like your best bet would probably be to consult a veterinary clinic who specializes in horse treatment. You can learn more about this drug on the page for Bactrim Details I wish your horse well and hope it improves soon!

can you have a beer while taking these tablets ## Hi, Bruce! How are you? It is best to abstain from alcohol, when taking any prescription medication. However, if your doctor says it is safe for you to have a drink or two, on occasion, or if you chose to do so anyway, you should be aware that it can cause worsening of the side effects. Thus, you may experience more nausea, dizziness and drowsiness than usual, this effect will basically make one drink affect as if you'd had two and so on. Learn more Bactrim details here. So please, for your own safety, make sure that you aren't driving or operating any heavy machinery. Is there anything else I can help with?

I've been off my birth control pill loestrin 24 Fe for about a month already I want to get back on my bc pills but I want to know if SMZ/TMP DS 800-160 TAB can affect them?? ## HI, Panda! How are you? Yes, from what I'm finding, Bactrim has been known to reduce the effectiveness of contraceptives, so there'd not be much point in taking them again, until you finish your course of treatment with it. It can continue having this effect in your body for 7 days, after finishing it. Learn more Bactrim DS details here. It may also cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. Is there anything else I can help with?

I was told that the first sign of infection in the mouth is pain will this help ## It would be more accurate to say that pain in the mouth might be the sign of an infection, because pain could also be caused by issues other than an infection. The tablet with this marking is a generic for Bactrim, which is an antibiotic that's used to treat various types of infections and may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, diarrhea and non-allergic skin rash. Learn more Bactrim details here. However, you should't take it, unless your doctor or dentist has instructed you to do so. If you don't have an infection, taking it creates the risk of your developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. This is also a possibility if you do have an infection, but don't have enough of the an...

I cut my thumb a few days ago. the cut is doing fine, but the cellulitus is developing under it. I have 10 pills left from a previous script the wasn't finished. I have started breaking them in half to make them go the 10 days. Or should I just use them full strength for 5 days? ## If cellulitis is developing, then the cut is not doing fine. Cellulitis is a deep tissue infection, hence the name cell for where it takes place and itis for inflammation. And no, a few days of the antibiotic, or 10 days of half is not enough to ensure that it is fully eradicated and that also creates the risk of developing antibiotic resistant bacteria. You need to see your doctor to have the situation evaluated and, if there is an infection present, they can prescribe you an appropriate antibiotic, with...

I have been on Azulfine for many years. Very low dose right now. I have an infection from surgery and my doc put me on bactrim. I see it has a sulfa component. I am wondering if it is going to heal a skin infection ## Hi, Lisa! How are you? Actually, the Azulfidine tends to increase the efficacy of the Sulfamethoxazole in the Bactrim, which may make it work better, but it also increases the risk of adverse side effects. You can learn more Azulfidine details here and you can find more Bactrim details here. In light of that, you should check with your doctor and make sure they are safe to take together, because sulfa based antibiotics can cause some problematic side effects. its a white cirular shape pill..... Trimetoprim Y Sulfametoxazole Tabletas Bp..... is it a broadbase antibiotic pill?? and can it use for anything?? ## It is an antibiotic that can treat bacterial infections, however, it shouldn't be used unless your doctor has prescribed it for you and confirmed the presence of an infection. Learn more SMZ/TMP details here. There are some infections that respond better to other antibiotics, so it may not always be the most appropriate choice. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, non-allergic skin rash and diarrhea. What is the chemical ingredients in it? ## Hi Stephen, Is it possible that you may be referring to Bactrim (400mg/80mg)? I have a abscess under my front bottom right tooth in the gums. I have no med insurance or money due to being out of work for last 5 yrs. Can someone take this for the infection. And how much would someone take? ## Hi, Dee! I'm sorry about the problem you're having, I've been there myself, but this is an issue that you really need to see a dentist and have treated. Many places in the U.S. have low-income dental clinics now that have emergency walk-in hours, so you may be able to get treatment free or at a significant discount and you really need to look into it. The reason I am saying this is because treating the infection will not help with the underlying reason for the infection. An abscess is usually caused by a deep cavity that has been left untreated for too long and de...

I took nitrofur macr 100 mg for 6 days of the 7 day prescription. I was having serious side effects, such as difficulty breathing, chills, intense nausea, and a skin rash. Within 24 hours of stopping the medication all of the side effects disappeared, except the skin rash. I have been off the medication for 3 days now and the rash is still present. Should I call a doctor or will it go away eventually on its own? ## Sorry that happened, Amber! You should call your doctor to be sure and maybe get something to lessen the duration of the rash, but if that's all you have left, it's doubtful that it's anything dangerous, unless you see signs of the skin breaking and tearing, ulcerating, bleeding, turning black or other unusual symptoms. However, those are signs of an allergy to th...
