Ihave a 8 year old daughter who has asthma the doctor perscribed her several different medications singulair chews, clarinex liquid, and crapred(?). can you pls help me to find out is the crapred 15mg a steriod?do I have the name write Or was my medication bottle labeled wrong? ## Don't you just love doctors handwriting ? ;) I think that the name of the drug in question is called Cetapred. It contains SULFACETAMIDE (sul-fa-SEE-ta-mide) and PREDNISOLONE (pred-NISS-oh-lone). You might want to call the doctor or the pharmacy and verify. This medicine is an antibacterial and steroid combination used in the eye to treat infections and to relieve the redness, irritation, and discomfort associated with certain eye problems. SIDE EFFECTS, that may go away during treatment, include burning, s...

Updatedl am using xolair and getting cramps, sore joints, head aches, but am putting weight on as well as stomach bloating. Also not sleeping well at night. Is this common with Xolair or other asthma medications? ## Hello, Chris! How are you? I'm sorry about the problems that you're experiencing. Everything you've described are listed as being possible side effects of this medication, as reported by the FDA, except the bloating. You may also experience dermatitis, sinusitis and voice changes. Thus, it would be best to consult your doctor to have things checked out to be safe. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I had my first inj. Tuesday. I have extreme flushing and hives on my face to the point that people think I am having a heart attack or something major. Have been taki...
Severe bronchitis event, followed by bronchial spasms and all nite coughing. Now feel somewhat asthmatic, had asthma as a child up to age 12 now 81. Was the coughing injurious to the avolia and should I not be surprised if this became permanent. ## Hello, JaCee! How are you? Our bodies do change, as we age, so it is possible that you've just developed asthma, again. It could even be the factor behind your developing bronchitis, according to the NIH. It happened to me recently, too. I'm 45 and had not had any severe allergy problems in years and no asthma attacks, either… but suddenly, I started having respiratory allergy issues, again, they lingered for awhile, turned into bronchitis and I still get asthma attacks. It is annoying, but just the way our bodies work, sometimes...
Started using Symbicort with aerochamber couple days before Txgiving, in accordance with Dr.'s advice (first time user) - I've lost 1/3 of breathing capacity and developed asthma from exposure to toxic mold. First time I used it, felt trembley, nervous - like I was on amphetamines. However, did relieve tightness in chest and improved breathing. Persisted in spite of side effects - as days went on, Symbicort was seeming to help less and less. Also, the tone of my voice changed and was tremulous. Yesterday was the straw that broke the camel's back - I felt short of breath, very nervous and shaky - to the point where I considered a visit to the ER. Heart was also racing. Next day called the doc - explanation was "some people have a paradoxical reaction" (my interpretati...
I have a friend who is taking a capsule that she got from mexico. She says it curbs her hunger and gives her energy and focus while she is eating very little. Sounds dangerous, I'm trying to figure out what it is. The pharmacia opens the box, pops it out of the foil packs, and gives it to her to walk across the border without declaring. Any ideas what it is? Im scared it has ephedrine in it, and sometimes she drinks while on it, etc!

Bought in Mexico, so in spanish ambophyllina must be. a small white pill with a line on one side down the middle. ## I use Ambophyllina. It is prescribed to me by a Doctor in Mexacali, Mexico. I use it to contol lung problems. What are the risks associated with the pill? ## My mother-in-law has taken this pill (Ambophyllina) for 20 years and it really helps her lung problems. She recently had to go without for 6 weeks and she has had a terrible time with really severe asthma. Today she was able to take the pill again and we are hoping the asthma attacks are over. ## Sorry, foreign pills are not regulated like American items are, and finding information on them is very difficult. So I have no idea what this is for or what it does. ## I get this pill from a Doctor in Mexicali for my Rheum...
I was discovered to have asthma and other allergies at the age of two. It was pretty bad in my formative years (2-3 attacks a day wasn't uncommon) A doctor prescribed Tedral to my parents which back then it came in a horrible tasting sugary yellowy thick, liquid form. which I didn't mind at 3yo because it had sugar in it. But Tedral WORKED!! It sincerely did. At about the ages of 6 or 7 I started with the little white Tedral tablets which even at that age I knew they gave me this"pickup" I felt "energized" After years of not having to worry about my attacks any more, by the time I was 16 I was taking them by themselves OR with aspirin for a "high". However when they ceased distribution, I didn't remember any withdrawals but I still have things like sh...
I recently relocated to India from US, my husband uses Dulera inhaler (mometasone furoate/formoterol fumarate dihydrate) regularly. What is the equivalent medicine available in India? ## I am using Dulera please tell me the drugstore where I can get this in Kanpur, India, or its equivalent
I purchased an OMRON Vibrating Mesh Nebulizer online in August. About the same size as the crap piece of garbage that came with the Astmanefrin starter kit. Works great and to be honest I have gone a few days without soaking it in distilled water and vinegar. I just run some distilled water thru it after each use. After 6 months it still works great! It has a 2 year warranty. ## Many belated thanks for the info Pat. My atomizer is still working but from other reports I'm sure it won't last, so your info is very helpful. ## Hello Pat, Excellent information! How often did you have to wash the original piece that came with the Astmanefrin start kit? Also what is the price comparison for getting the Omron nebulizer compared to getting the Astmanefrin kit replacement?
I've been sitting here crying because the pharmacist just told me that AsthmaNefrin was taken off the market. I look on the internet and it's been recalled by the FDA because it has caused chest pain and has many complaints. This decision by the FDA will kill people like me because I get a paradoxical reaction to Albuterol and Levalbuterol. They work completely different. Different drug. If I go to the emergency because I can't breathe, they save me with ephinephrine, the same drug that AsthmaNefrin is. And look in any drug book, Albuterol and Levalbuterol has worse side-effects than Epinephrine. I have to have my rescue inhaler with me everyday. The Primatene tablets are horrible, causing extreme anxiety and don't mix with my antidepressant. I was on cortisone for years...
Are we sure that bronkaid tablets haven't been taken off the market in some areas? I went to 3 different drug stores today, in Columbus County, North Carolina, to purchase, and there was an empty shelf where they once were. Not even the pharmacists could say whether they had been discontinued. ## Bronkaid is not being carried in drug stores in Columbia city indiana ## Thanks for your kind response. ## Bronkaid was discontinued as of 12/31/11 due to a phase out of these types of medications. Have you tried consulting your doctor about using an alternative medication? ## Actually, we have not. The medicines are for my wife, who has had bouts with asthma her entire life. It seems that once we find something that works, it is discontinued. The physicians advice, I suppose, is always goo...
Knowing I have asthma makes life hard enough but when you have a sudden attack and don't have your medication with you, the next best thing is to run to a drug store and get an over the counter inhaler for quick relief so you can make it to the hospital. Primatene Mist was great for that, easy to use and fast acting. Now that it is gone, I thought I could manage with just my medication. I was wrong. Another sudden attack on my way home in the car, my medication packed in a bag somewhere in the trunk. So I stopped at a drug store in hope of finding something for help. I got Asthmanefrin which I almost died on the spot over the price. Paid for it, went out to my car and opened it only to have trouble figuring this thing out. I ended up going to the ER in that town only because the Ast...
I had paralysis of left vocal cord after having a thyroidectomy. I had hoarseness and shortness of breath, which is common with the paralysis. I have since had vocal cord medialization with injection. I still have hoarseness and the shortness of breath is now worse than ever. ENT kind of brushed it aside and told me I should see a Pulmonologist to make sure Asthma is under control. For the last week shortness of breath has been REALLY bad. Saw Pulmonologist today ALL clear with my lungs. I am scheduled for a Pulmonary Function Test, so I can take results to ENT to show him at my next visit. Anyone who can relate? I am SO frustrated!
