Bring Primatene Mist Back!
UpdatedKnowing I have asthma makes life hard enough but when you have a sudden attack and don't have your medication with you, the next best thing is to run to a drug store and get an over the counter inhaler for quick relief so you can make it to the hospital. Primatene Mist was great for that, easy to use and fast acting. Now that it is gone, I thought I could manage with just my medication. I was wrong. Another sudden attack on my way home in the car, my medication packed in a bag somewhere in the trunk. So I stopped at a drug store in hope of finding something for help. I got Asthmanefrin which I almost died on the spot over the price. Paid for it, went out to my car and opened it only to have trouble figuring this thing out. I ended up going to the ER in that town only because the Asthmanefrin machine was difficult to assemble and figure out how to get it to work. Not to mention when you open the tube of liquid you spill most of it. By the time I got it to work I was in a panic attack and my asthma attack was full blown. I am not happy with this product at all and when I sent a message to the company about it I basically got blown off and told they are in it for the money. The device is to large and hard to figure out with the many pieces to it, takes to long to assemble for use so there is no quick relief or any due to the spilling of the medication.

I am very sorry about what you've been through, that's awful. Do you have a prescription rescue inhaler that you can carry with you all the time?
If you've been diagnosed with asthma, your doctor should be able to prescribe one and most of them are small enough to keep in your purse or pocket, so they are always on you and ready to use, if needed. Another great thing is that they also make them easy to use, since they may be needed by children or elderly patients.
The vial has a twist off top. Tap it to allow any liquid to fall below the tip before opening. Put the liquid in the front near the metal mesh. Very important to follow the cleaning instructions with distilled water/vinegar ratio. I clean my unit everyday. Slide the cup on the unit firmly and make sure it is seated. Not very portable I agree but at least it's something in place of Primatene.
Good news - it appears that as of writing this, Primatene Mist has been re-released as an over the counter inhaler with the same active ingredient:
