doctor just put my son who is 3 on this drug...i'm not sure what to think..if i should even give him his first pill or not....they put him on .25 twice a day ## a dr put your 3 yr old on risperdal? that is for mental problems.. how would they know at that age if a child has a mental problem of any kind? i wouldn't give this to my child, i would get a second opioion from another dr. ## Risperdol has helped my daughter for many years. She is now 9 but I knew at age 2 1/2 that something wasn't quite right since I have two oldre children. Be cautious and informed, there are good doctors out there but you are the one that sees your child the most. Do your own research not just through these websites. I started sleep walking on serenace/ cogentin so the doctor put me on Zyprexa/alanzapine is this normal I think serenace/cogentin are dangerous. ## It is a rare, but possible side effect of most antipsychotic medications. There are also very serious side effects that can result from using Zyprexa. The most common ones that cause problems for those taking it is severe weight gain, which often results in Type II Diabetes and extreme withdrawal symptoms when they try to stop taking it. There are many horror stories out there from people who have used both of these medications. My husband had severe problems when he was taking Zyprexa and he had only been on it for a short time and it was a nightmare when he stopped taking it. The only adverse side effect I've experienced with Zyprexa is weight gain. I've gained 40 pounds in a year but I'm so stable on it it hardly matters! I love Zyprexa! ## I will give you an early warning though, if you ever try to stop using this, because you don't need it anymore, or you are switching to something else, you will have great difficulties with addiction to this, I know many people who have had this problem, even if they were only on it for a very short time. My own husband was on it for just a few weeks, he is diabetic so the weight gain was a real problem and he had to stop taking it, and even in that short time span, trying to get off it was just miserable. I have been bipolar 30 yrs, i am 44. Many medications, didn't seem to be working so started using crystal meth. Been clean for three years but in depressive episode 3 years can't shake it. cant work. dr. gave me geodon 5 days ago to try along with my lamictal. about three hrs after taking it, i have to go to sleep. help! sleep is depressing. Someone posted something about feeling like they were on speed with geodon, i would rather feel like you do then so down it is hard to leave the house! any suggestions? thanx ## I am 25 and don't know exactly how long I have been bipolar, but was diagnosed 2 yrs. ago. My son is in a rehab center and they accdntly gave him Seroquil tonight 200mg. he is currently taking 40mg of foloxitine. what can we expect? ## seraquil is rountinely prescribed in rehab centers, for sleep and anxiety. It has to be taken as prescribed.

Khalid, That is not good that your doctor will not tell you why you are being prescribed this medication. my 8 yr. grandson put on adderall and risperdal at night. reactions not good. 0.5 and he has bed wetting and cant get up for school and can sleep till 1030 not sure about combination of the 2. he's up all day on adderall then doen all night w/risperdal. somehow this doesn't sound healthy for an 8 yr. old and i'm extremely conserned if this is a good combination. ## My son was also put on risperdal to treat bipolar disorder is on .25 mg and he is also have bed wetting and trouble sleeping and getting up I have talked to his doctor regarding this and she said she wants to see if it changes any suggestions ## My 7yr. old son takes Risperdal .5 at night and Concerta 27 durning the day for ADHD. ser ## Grandson taking seraquill ## Here's the link to the monograph listing, it will provide you with more information on the drug, its uses, side effects and etc. Seroquel Info Click Here ## I was prescribed seraquil in Sept. 2006...started 200 mg about 1 hr before I wanted to go to sleep...i was asleep within 30-45 min, slept deeply and soundly, and usually fo 7-8 hrs, with very few side effects...occasionally I experienced a few hrs of drowsiness upon awakening, usually dissapated shortly....I am bipolar,started having symptoms of the illness at age 17, will be 54 in Aug...I was misdiagnossecd for years, took or was prescribed almosst everyting imaginable, I have never felt better

This is a small orange oval pill that has M above 58 on one side and 25 on the other side ## I am not sure what you meant by Ozy. This drug is Thioridazine 25mgs, a generic for Mellaril. This is used to treat disorder thoughts as well as other mental and nervous problems.

Just a note, as per the FDA, these drugs ARE NOT APPROVED to treat dementia and Alzheimers, or Parkinson's symptoms. As a matter of fact, they have been proven dangerous if you used for such. My nephew is on this medication, he isn't working and doesn't have a prescription plan. Could you tell me if there is a Patient Assistance program that would allow him to receive this drug from the maker(company)? He will be returning to work soon, but he needs the medicine now. ## On the manufacturers website, they are partnered with PPARX, the Partnership for Prescription Assistance to help people who can't afford them, obtain needed meds when they have no insurance. wat is it?? ## Seroquel is an antipsychotic medication, it is also used to help some people with depressive disorders. Here's the prescribing info: Seroquel Info Click Here ## I was given this medication by a psychiatrist as a sleep aid. For me, it was ineffective for that purpose.
