My 3 Year Ols On This!

doctor just put my son who is 3 on this drug...i'm not sure what to think..if i should even give him his first pill or not....they put him on .25 twice a day

a dr put your 3 yr old on risperdal? that is for mental problems.. how would they know at that age if a child has a mental problem of any kind? i wouldn't give this to my child, i would get a second opioion from another dr.

Risperdol has helped my daughter for many years. She is now 9 but I knew at age 2 1/2 that something wasn't quite right since I have two oldre children. Be cautious and informed, there are good doctors out there but you are the one that sees your child the most. Do your own research not just through these websites. I am thankful there are drugs out there that we can give our children that does help them. She has been hard to wake up.

Please do not give your three year old this. I do not know your circumstance but, a three year old is still growning, and developing mentaly. This is a powerful drug. You should should consult many doctors before you make this gigantic decision. Please do this for your son. Don't rely on one doctor. People are wrong sometimes. God Bless you. Hi, my daughter was just perscribed this drug today. She is 4 yrs old. I am also concerned now that I read these replys to the original post. Does anyone have any research info about this drug for children so young? My daughter was diagnosed with ADHD and originally was given Medate. It was impossible to get her to take that drug, so today her doctor prescribed Risperdal.

My 7 yr old was put on this three weeks ago and what an imporvement. He was on medadate for 9 months with no chance in behavior. We then started celexa and that was a disaster. Finally, we agreed to this and he is doing great. .25 once a day.

I'm a nurse and a mother and if this was my child I would not start the medication right away.
You have time.....
I would then get a second opinion, and if you still are not comfortable get a third.

Remember you can't take the pill back once it's given but you can always give it later.

When it come to your health always listen to your instincts and remember doctors are just people and they make mistakes just like the rest of us.
