Adhd Usage

my 8 yr. grandson put on adderall and risperdal at night. reactions not good. 0.5 and he has bed wetting and cant get up for school and can sleep till 1030 not sure about combination of the 2. he's up all day on adderall then doen all night w/risperdal. somehow this doesn't sound healthy for an 8 yr. old and i'm extremely conserned if this is a good combination.

My son was also put on risperdal to treat bipolar disorder is on .25 mg and he is also have bed wetting and trouble sleeping and getting up I have talked to his doctor regarding this and she said she wants to see if it changes any suggestions

My 7yr. old son takes Risperdal .5 at night and Concerta 27 durning the day for ADHD. How will all of this affect him later in life? He's really hard to get up for school and can't wake up on his own to go to the bathroom at night. This makes him really self concious about himself and won't stay away from home. Is thre anything else that would help? Have you found anything?

I'm 44 and on adderall. Just the Adderall OLONE.... I know how it makes me feel. My niece is also on it. It does help for a little while, but when it wears off...We sometimes just come down real sad just cry. My niece gets frustrated and bad attitude along with the sadness, (Im sure I do to) then very, very sleepy can't stay awake. The other day she smarted off, ran to the bedroom crying and yelling I just want to die, please I just want to die, I hate my life. We (my Sister and I) have been watching her mood swing close. She now takes the 20mg time release and I take 20mg 3x a day tabs. Going to try some of the natural stuff over the Summer, so that her school is not affected by more changes. It's so sad our children are on ANY of this stuff. I see You Are Using The Grand/Mothers Intuition God Planted in Each of Us. Please Talk to your 8yr Baby Boy that is becoming dependent on these Meds. Ask him all the questions, like do you feel sad to the point of wanting to cry...do you get angry real fast and doesn't really know why!? Then You Will Know what to do by that Gut feeling you have. We are going to Stuff Try The Natural stuff. Praying for y'all and the the rest of our Children and parents that are struggling with ADD/ADHD. I KNOW Its Tuff....Thinking of you

Risperdal is a very, very strong antipyschotic med, it is also used for people who suffer from mental health issues and have trouble sleeping because they just can't stop thinking about things.

What dosage do they have him on?

At his age, he should be on 0.25mgs or less! My DH has the 1mgs pill and when he was hospitalized for depression, they had him on 4mgs a day when they first released him and he was a major zombie. Could not wake up for anything, and yes, this will cause bed wetting because they literally cannot wake up to go to the bathroom.

You are right, this is not good for someone his age. I know they are trying to counteract the effects of his other med with this, to make sure he gets on a good sleep schedule, but it sounds like he is not handling it well at all. His parents need to talk to his doc about it, or they could even lower his dose themselves just by cutting the pill and only giving him a piece of it at bedtime.

My daughter has been on risperdal since she was two. She takes .5mg in the am and .5mg in the pm. It now dosen't seem to be helping any more and we are wondering what else is there to try and she also has bed wetting all the time.
