I believe that my Meniere's was a result of off label use of Nerontin for back nerve pain which caused my Meniere's. I learned side effects from meds often never goes away even if you stop the drug. As you may know the company that produces Neurontin was sued by the US Department of Justce for the flagrant marketing of the drug to doctors very secretly for off label uses. The company made something like $2 Billion dollars from the off label marketing. There was a whistle blower who had letters and email that showed the company secretly was asking their sales people to market the drug for off label use. The government prevailed in the suit and a large sum was awarded. Those dollars were passed out to each state's attorneys general to set up programs to help make the public aw...
Updated in NeurontinMy son is on banzel(along with 280ml of phenobarbital and1200 of keppra)for seizures. He's non verbal so he can't tell me how he feels. He seems too sedated! ## When it comes down to it, verbal or not, no one knows your son as well as you do. Thus, if you feel he's too sedated, then you should definitely contact his doctor and tell them that. It can sometimes take some time to find the right combination of medications to prevent the seizures, without causing too many other crazy side effects, but the doctor can't know that something is wrong, unless you speak up. Don't ever be afraid to be your child's advocate. :-) How long has he been taking it?
MFG. Camber ,Oval White Tablet Side 1: 1 2 nothing on other side. Suppose to be Gabapentin 600MG ## That is correct, I did find an information sheet that lists the markings on their tablets and this matches the marking and description of their 600mg one. Learn more Gabapentin details here. This is an anticonvulsant that's also used to treat certain type of nerve pain and it may cause side effects, such as nausea, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. Is there anything else I can help with? ## I think the person was asking about the difference in Camber's pill and those of say other manafacturers of Gabapentin. As this pill has a a sweet after taste to it others have not had. Most others have the bitter after taste to them. Like say you hold them on your tongue for a moment bef...
My son had a seizure in 2012 (when he was 2 years of age) and our doctor at the time advised that he take Valparin Syrup 3mL twice daily for 3 years. One year has already passed & he has two years of treatment time remaining to continue taking this syrup. However, now we have to immigrate to Canada and I would like to find out whether we can bring 2 years worth of this medication (approx. 50 bottles) there? Or even at least 1 year quota. Will we get questioned in custom clearance or anywhere else? I would take the prescription from the pediatrician but I'm really nervous about how to handle this situation when traveling internationally. Kindly advise me on this.
Updated in Valproate SodiumMy husband has recently developed epilepsy and is on epitec 100 . Just want to make sure which pain killers are preferable to take when needed. Or which not to take. Is myprodol or ibupain ok.?? Do they interfere with the epitec. Have heard that some medication can interfere...? ## Rather than just thinking of what may interfere with the Epitec, his overall health and the severity of his epilepsy also need to be taken into consideration, when deciding what medications are safe for him to take. Thus, the best suggestion I can make is that he check with his doctor, before taking anything else. Is Epitec the only medication he is on? Does he have any other health conditions?
What are the good and bad side affects of this drug? How can i overcome any side affects? ## HI, Rex! How are you? Phenytoin is an antiepileptic, so preventing seizures would be the good effect of it. Side effects may include nausea, dizziness, horizontal gaze nystagmus and reduced folic acid levels. Overcoming the side effects is really just a matter of time, as most will taper off in severity as your body gets used to the medication, which can take about 4 to 6 weeks. Learn more Phenytoin details here.

Updated in FrisiumI stopped taking my Neurontin after having what I think is an allergic reaction to the med. I was started on 100mg once a day for a week, then went to 200mg once a day for 1 week. A few days after starting the 200mg my eyes started itching, I didn't really think too much about it. Then about 3 days after I was increased to 300mg my eyes started swelling with blurred vision and runny eyes. I also couldn't understand why my throat felt as though it was shutting off and I started getting flu like symptoms and my face was swollen as well. My dr started me on eye drops with antibiotics in them, but my stayed swollen. A day or 2 later I thought that the Neurontin was the only thing new for me so I stopped taking it and my symptoms are way better. My eyes are still watery, but a lot be...

Updated in GabapentinI was recently prescribed Topiramate 25mg tablet to aid in post-concussion. After taking 1 pill last night, I am experiencing sharp chest pains, feeling like a bad case of heartburn. Is this a common reaction? I hesitate to take another pill again as I don't feel this is tolerable. ## Hi Teddy, Based on my research, chest pain and heartburn are both listed as side effects of Topiramate. Of the two side effects, chest pain is actually regarded as something serious that should be reported to your doctor immediately. Referenced from: nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/druginfo/meds/a697012.html#side-effects In my opinion, it probably wouldn't be wise to take any more than you have to until you're able to get ahold of your doctor. Hopefully he or she can then suggest a safer alternative in...

My doctor has prescribed me to have a 25mg topamax dosage.i would want to know how weight would i lose if i have one tablet a day for about 15 days ## Hi, Priya! How are you? Unfortunately, there's really no set answer that anyone can give you. While Topamax can aid in weight loss and has recently been approved to be used for it, much of the rest really depends on the individual. For instance someone that only takes the medication, but doesn't follow a good, healthy diet plan and get plenty of exercise is not going to lose as much as another person that does those things. Other factors may also be involved, such as your metabolism, your overall health, any other medications you take and etc. What types of expectations did your doctor give you?
Could I be rebounding from Gabapentin withdrawal or fibro pain getting worse? I was prescribed Lyrica because the pain has just gotten worse and worse with Gabapentin, and am now tapering off of Gabapentin. I've been on it 22 months. Was up to 2400 mg last fall, but the first of this year I tapered down to 1800 and have been at 1500 to 1800 a day since. My doctor told me to taper 300 mg every 2 days. I think that is probably too fast. I am now down to 900 (as of last night). My pain is even worse and I wonder if part of the pain is rebound effect. A few days before I saw my doctor my pain suddenly got much worse. But now it is even worse yet. I have gone from taking usual dose of 2 Vicodin 5/500 a day to taking 2 Vicodin at a time to get any relief at all. And still the relief is ab...

Going thru bad withdrawl from opiates, someone said they have noroton & it will take away all symptoms. Can this be true? ## Hi dee, Sorry to hear about the bad withdrawals you've been experiencing. Did you mean to say "Neurontin" by chance? I haven't found anything by the name of noroton. Neurontin (Gabapentin) however, was originally developed for the treatment of epilepsy, but is currently widely used to relieve neuropathic pain. I cannot guarantee how effective it is for managing certain withdrawal symptoms (since it's not indicated for this purpose), but I'd imagine that results could vary for each individual and their particular set of symptoms. Was this person a doctor or credible source who told you that it works for all symptoms? I'm not doubting...
