Is this true? ## Yes it does help, 600 pregab 2 times a day helped me a great deal. I have tried many times to come off opiates over 20 years in fact, never much success. But was able to come off completely with pregab just be warned, if taken for to long they are also addictive. ## Pregabapentin are stronger than gabapentin, and i meant 600mgs pregab, you can also use gabapentin it just depends how much opoid you are on, mine was a bad addiction. ## Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant that is also used to help treat certain types of nerve pain. ref: Medline Plus Gabapentin It may help with some withdrawal symptoms, but it is a prescription only medication, so you wou...
Can anyone recommend a substitute for gabapentin? It is prescribed by my doctor to reduce pain. ## I am on 300 gms gaberpintin what else can i take to help me sleep stop muscle pain in the hands and calf thank you Stephen Burgess ## Gabapentin is a anticonvulsant that is also used to help treat/prevent nerve pain. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, weight changes, and mood changes. There are other similar medications available, but they all require a prescription, so there is nothing equivalent available over the counter. Why do you want to stop taking it? ## I know we talk about alotvof drugs on here but diclofenic uk.nane took away my wrist and back pain I was amazed as I didn't think it would be of any use.brilliant at taking my arthritic wrist pain...
Recently given this medicine and no exaggeration: Within 20 minutes a ate a 450 cal Boston Market TV dinner, ANOTHER in 15 minutes and two White Castle sliders next. I’ve NEVER hit a refrigerator like a Tasmanian Devil before. If there was more food, I’d have eaten it. Oh yeah, there we’re some mozzarella lunch cheese snack, killed those too! EASILY consumed 1,300 calories in LESS than an hour! While the med IS helpful, THAT’S truth! ## Gabapentin has been known to do that to some people, unfortunately. Most medications in this class, that were originally used to treat seizures, carry a warning about possible weight gain. I tried it, for awhile, but it really didn't help my pain, at all, and it was causing a lot of side effects, so I tapered off of it. Ref: M...

I take Gralise for Trigeminal Neuralgia, TN2 (1800 mg). It works far better then Gabapentin, which made me feel terrible. I have trouble with most drugs…they don’t work allergic reactions…. 600 mg worked for the first month. My only side effect was terrible heartburn that came and went. Then it just stopped working. At 1800 mg I must take with other drugs….Klonopin and Aimovig. I was also on Cymbalta, but gained 60 pounds, had severe insomnia and terrible nocturnal leg pains. I got off it, but now need something to get that pain under control again.
Updated in GraliseGabapentin and Nortriptyline were prescribed after chemo nerve damage. I would break out in shingles and barely walk due to pain on my right leg. I took Gabapentin by itself and I was still suffering. After adding Nortriptyline I was so thankful. I haven't had any more pain since. ## That's awesome!!! I'm so very glad that they are working for you. I tried Gabapentin for sciatic pain, but it messed with me far more than it helped, it was causing odd blood work results, making me really tired, headaches, and etc., what the FDA calls the typical side effects. For me, it just wasn't worth continuing to take it. I've never been on Nortriptyline, but it is often used to treat these types of neuralgia. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizzi...
I have observed several side effects while taking Topiramate as prescribed by my doctor. I know I need to be careful when consuming alcohol and taking this medication. With that being said, I am an adult and fully aware of my actions, and although I am not increasing my consumption, but furthermore more mindful and drinking what I would consider less. I am noticing nights where I am forgetting a lot the next day or black outs... has anyone else had this occur as well while taking this mediation? I am only on 50mg. ## There are warnings stating that you should not mix alcohol with Topirimate, due to the side effects that it may cause, which could include psychological issues, severe dizziness, drowsiness, and memory issues. REF: Topamax This PDF lists some details provided by the FDA. Al...
I've been on Gabapentin for two days, taking 100mg twice. Will I have withdrawals if I stop taking it? ## No, there should be any issues after such a short period of time on such a low dose. Why are you stopping it, already? The FDA lists the typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, fluid retention, mood swings, and weight gain. ## Okay, thank you. :) I could be wrong but it seems as if Gabapentin only made things worse for me. The pain I was having prior to taking it, seemed to get more frequent. Also, my chest pain seemed to last longer than usual. ## I stopped cold turkey and now have been itching for two days like crazy. ## Try a histamine.
Please help me! I feel like I'm losing my mind. My husband is taking gabapentin for a pinched nerve in neck/slash shoulder. He's 100 mile and hour, talks constantly (quiet before) easily angered, manic, can't sit still, cries (not a crier), happy, sad, furious, depressed, upbeat, all can change at any minute and on to the next. He has corrected me, yelled, humiliated me, and all this has happened in two weeks. I'm walking on egg shells, kinda scared at times. I try to talk to him about It and one minute he realizes that he's acting manic then the next it's my fault he's acting this way. ## Yes, Gabapentin can cause those types of side effects in some people that take it, according to FDA reports, along with nausea, dizziness, headache, and weight gain. Has hi...

I tapered off gabapentin two weeks ago but still feel stoned and have no get up n go. Lots of gas still as well. Is this normal and how long will it take to be lucid and energetic again? ## How long were you taking it, and how much were you taking each day? Did you taper off of it, or just stop it cold turkey? Those can be withdrawal effects of Gabapentin, according to FDA reports, along with rebound pain, rebound depression, and a risk of seizures if you stop cold turkey from high doses. Are you on any other medications? ## Took it for 2 1/2 months. 1200 mg for 1 1/2 months. 600 mg for two weeks then 300 mg for two weeks. Stopped after that. I'm also on 40 mg of Paxil. ## It took at least a month for me to feel normal after dumping Gabapentin. I weaned off of it slowly & I only...
What are the best medications to treat fibromyalgia? I am always hurting somewhere on my body. Especially my back, knees, and hips. I am so exhausted. I wake up every morning feeling like I didn't sleep at all. My doctor gave gabapentin 600mg 3 times a day. They don't work and neither does lyrica. I am just so tired of the pain. I also have trouble walking when my knees, back and hips hurt. Any info you can give me would greatly appreciated. ## There is really no best medication that I can mention, it can vary from person to person. The medications you've mentioned you've mentioned are great examples, they don't work for you, but they do work well for many others that try them. The NIH states the some antidepressants can help, such as Cymbalta or Savella. Have you tr...
My doctor started me on Lamictal 3mg for my mood disorder. What is the usual dosage for this medication? This seems like a low dose. Does anyone else take this medication for mood disorders? ## I need to get info about the meds my spouse is taking. He is seeing several specialists and each one gives him prescriptions and he is taking about 30 meds a day. I think it is too much and affecting him. Any help?? ## Hi April, It looks like dosages for Lamictal can range from 2 mg all the way up to 200 mg. [1] So yes, 3 mg would be on the lower end of the dosing scale. Was he prescribed the orally disintegrating tablets? From what I read this medication can be used to help treat seizures as well as help with mood swings for adults with bipolar disorder. [2]
Does this drug help treat epileptic seizures? ## Yes, Lacosamide is indicated for the treatment of seizures. " Why is this medication prescribed? Lacosamide is used to control partial onset seizures (seizures that involve only one part of the brain) in adults and children 4 years of age and older. Lacosamide is also used in combination with other medications to control primary generalized tonic-clonic seizures (formerly known as a grand mal seizure; seizure that involves the entire body) in adults and children 4 years of age and older. Lacosamide is in a class of medications called anticonvulsants. It works by decreasing abnormal electrical activity in the brain. " Ref: Medline Plus ## has anyone used lacasomide mediciation for seizures? ## That is actually the original approved...
I would like to know if Epilim is used to treat epilepsy? ## Yes, from what I found, Epilim (Sodium valproate) is indeed used as a treatment for epilepsy in children and adults. "Sodium valproate is used to treat epilepsy and bipolar disorder." Source: NHS.uk
Hi there, My dad is 58yrs old, he's an epilepsy patient for last 30+ years..Right from inital stage till date he has been using sodium valproate 400mg twice a day. Recently a few weeks back he's affected with epilepsy (fits) after nearly two years gap. As a common practice we have consulted the doctor and has make him to undergo all the test (ECG/EPG) etc tests. As a result the doctor whom we consulted has advised to stop using sodium valproate 400mg and replace it with Oxetol 300mg and assured this should take care of the issue. Now all im worried here is, with my dad being 58yrs old, will changing the medicine now have any kind of impact? Will he be safe? Please advise, im pretty worried about his health... Thanks Pr ## It is normal for someone's body to adjust to a medica...
I have a white pill with 45 on one side and nothing on the other. Would like to know what this is. ## The pill which you are describing is most likely Lamotrigine 25 mg (NDC 13668-0045) - though the tablet that I'm referring to has a score line on one side (the pill can be split into 2 sections). Inactive Ingredients: - Lactose Monohydrate - Magnesium Stearate - Cellulose, Microcrystalline - Povidone K30 - Sodium Starch Glycolate Type A Potato Ref: DailyMed ## I found a small white pill with 45 on one side and blank on the other
Hi i just want to find out... My mother has shingles and they said she must use epinutem but they dont have any in stock..can she use epitec or epilum? ## The Epanutin contains Phenytoin, and it is given in such cases to help with the nerve pain that Shingles can cause. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, weight changes, headache, and mood changes. As to an alternative, she should consult her doctor to see what is safest for her to take. Is she on any other medications?
I've been taking gabapentin about 9 mo now 300 mg nightly for hot flashes. But I noticed the last few months I was having vision problems. Dx as ocular migraines. Anyone else having these problems from this drug ## Hello, Clbark! How are you doing? I'm sorry about the problem that you're having. If you read over the details side effects provided by the FDA, this medication has been known to cause many visual issues, as well as nausea, weight gain, mood swings and alopecia. Have you spoken to your doctor about trying a different medication? Tapering off of this one and trying something else would enable you to discover if your problem is solely due to this drug. Prozac, which is an SSRI, has also been shown to help with hot flashes. Its typical side effects may include nausea...
Found this pill in my sons pack pack and I want to know what it is ## I haven't been able to find an exact listing for this, but the closest match I'm seeing is a white elliptical/oval shaped pill marked with 511 on one side and blank on the other (in black ink). There doesn't appear to be any yellow on either side, so I'm assuming that this probably isn't your pill. Hopefully this result can at least narrow down some of your options. Another person here on the site was looking for this same pill and was under the impression that it's probably something that's available over the counter. Have you tried asking your son where he got it from? ## I found this very big white pill while cleaning the garage. ( yeah a guy cleaning the garage) anyway it say: A 511 in ...
