My wife is suffering from sever headache on and off... after tests and scans we found there is a lesion near her brain. a neuro surgeon said, it has to be removed through surgery. however a neuro physician said, head ache is not because of the lesion as it is harmless and has not shown any sign of sudden growth and headache could be due to mental stress and suggested dicorate er 250mg every day before going to bed... after the first two months of the tablet, she has started feeling head aches again... ## With 2 conflicting opinions, I'd suggest she seek another to try to get a definitive answer. However, I'm not sure whether or not they are specifically geared towards this particular facial condition. From what I've seen, Gabapentin or Lyrica are usually the general medications recommended by doctors for these types of conditions. Some people also suggest supplementing with a Vitamin B -Complex, as well as Turmeric, and Omega 3 fatty acids (DHA) for increased efficacy. Hi I have been on Gabapentin for a month. The highest dose I could tolerate is 900mg a day. The problem is the drug has had no effect on my pain. I have tried to go up in dosage to possible get some pain relief, but I am retaining fluid at higher doses and I have Congestive Heart Failure, so this is a no-no. So..... 34 on topamax for severe migraines 100mg 1 a day for 7 years. I've had of course just the tingling nothing else ... Well at the beginning dr said I might lose weight I did about 20 but nothing else... Its been the best for migraines now all a sudden my abdomen hurts bad Chest pains.. Fevers non stop chills all time... I'm freezing...My fingertips are turning blue ....my eyes are burning and feels As if pins are poking them.. Prescribed as a added medication for anxiety/depression. If I feel it's giving me side effects would it be suggested to taper off 100mg per a nightly dose of 1000mg? Been taking this for 5 years. ## That's actually a very high dose and you've been taking it for a very long time, thus a 100mg reduction might be too much. Learn more Gabapentin details here. What types of side effects is it causing? It would be odd to experience them after such a long period of time. Have you consulted your doctor? They'd be best able to guide you on a safe tapering schedule. Since this is an anticonvulsant, tapering down too fast could put you at risk of seizures, so it's not safe to try to play with it on your own.

I know I am not suppose to drink alcohol while on this medication but I have a party to go to. Is it ok to stop taking the med a day before and pick back up the day after the party? ## Drinking alcohol, while taking this medication can cause an increase of side effects, so you may feel more nauseous, dizzy and drowsy than usual. I haven't been taking topiramate for very long and finally decided to read the side effects today. It says it causes problems with cognition and can cause drowsiness, but I feel a ton more alert and clear headed than I have in a while. I have suffered from depression for years, and even the usual daily blues have gone away. I find my self having more energy and needing less sleep. The only thing I have noticed so far that goes along with side effects that others experience is that soda tastes HORRIBLE. Are the things I'm experiencing temporary and has anyone else had these side effects? Neurotin come in a pill form round or just a captule like I seen in this site? And why does it make my face feel numb on my left side? Is this medication ever administered in intravenous dosage forms? ## From what I've read, Gabapentin appears to be available in the following dosage forms: a capsule, a tablet, an extended-release (long-acting) tablet, and an oral solution (liquid) to take by mouth. IV methods are usually pertaining to those who recreationally abuse the medication. So I wouldn't necessarily recommend doing anything other than what your doctor or health-care provider suggests, in that regard. The dosing instructions also state that you should swallow the extended-release tablets whole; and not cut, chew, or crush them.
