I took this once years ago for a mood stabilizer. I'm now on it again for weight loss. But I'm not seeing results. Am I immune to it now? It also makes me dumb as a bucket of rocks. Is there anything I can to to restart my system to re-recognize the meds and not make me feel so dumb? ## I'm prescribed 2, 100mg at night 1, 100mg in the morning. But I've been taking them all at night so the 'dumminess' part of the drug wears off as I sleep ## Hello, Kas! How are you? How long have you been taking it this time? They do take awhile to reach their full level of efficacy in the body, before you see results. Are you also watching your diet and getting plenty of exercise? ## I was put on Topamax a few years ago for headaches and lost weight as a side effect. I stopped ta...

I've had GAD for prostate cancer, spinal stenosis and used 600mg Gabapentin once a day at bedtimeas a possibility for my anxiety. It did work for a period of time but did no help for my anxiety at all. My neurologist recommended I Taper the Gabapentin the following manner: 600mg for 1 week, 500mg with 100mg for another week, 400mg less 100mg another week, then 300mg week less 200mg less then a 100mg, then one last week 100mg to finish the Taper. Following that 6 weeks my anxiety increased, severe headache, lack of sleep and my GAD is now worse. I did then try Xanax and then Valium with continued pain, anxiety, headache, all day long since the Gabapentin was fully tapered & cant determine my GAD & previous pain that seemed to be further cause of the Gabapentin and don't k...

I take Valparin Chrono 500 and lately I feel so tired. My memory is not strong either, and any time I memorize anything I forget in a few minutes, could this be from my meds? ## i take valparinchrono 500 twice in a day.is it possible that my weight can gain now i am 21st year old. ## Valparin Chrono contains sodium valproate 133 mg, valproic acid 58 mg, it is used as an anticonvulsant and antimigraine medication. To the OP, have you spoken to your doctor about the problem? You may require a different medication or a dosage adjustment. What was it prescribed to treat? The weight gain side effect is something that is only experienced by a small percentage of people that use this medication, so it is probably not worth worrying about. ## i am taking Valparin Chrono 500 T.I.D/Day,for that i...

I have been taking the this drug from the past 16 years. I started with Carbamazepine. When the drug Oxcarbamazepine was introduced, I was asked to replace Carbamazepine with Oxcarbamazepine. The dose has been increasing since then. When I started taking this dose, I took 200 mg per day. My medical condition remained stable for 25-30 days with the frequency of epileptic attack of 1 attack per month. After this duration, the frequency of attacks increased. When consulted the doctor, he increased the dose. This cycle kept on repeating itself till the dose increased to 1200 mg per day which is the maximum dose an average adult can take per day. After the dosage reached the maximum level, I opted for homeopathy. Before I suffer from epileptic attack, I get a strong feeling which I am not ab...

Can Lamotrigine 150 be cut in quarters to lower the dose? I have many 150mg left and would like to use them up if I can cut into quarters. Please advise. ## Unless your doctor, pharmacist, or specific medication instructions state otherwise, it is safe to do this with any medication that isn't time released. In many cases, our doctors prescribes a higher dose for us, then just has use cut, or break the tablets, since there can be a more significant financial savings by doing so. Lamotrigine is most commonly used to help prevent seizures, and treat some types of depression. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dry mouth, diarrhea, mood changes, and weight loss. Ref: Medline Plus Lamotrigine Is there anything else I can help with?

I started taking Gabapentin 300mg daily 4 days ago and last night had some strange side effects. The first night I took it right before bed so had no side effects, but was very groggy in the morning. The next two nights I had this almost drunk feeling come over me, almost exactly 2 hours after taking the pill both nights. I was mentally impaired but had a kind of heavy head feeling and some slight tingling as I would if I were to drink. It passed and I was fine. Then yesterday I woke up pain free for the first time, and took the med for the fourth night and like clock work 2 hours later that feeling came over me again. Then I got double vision, trouble concentrating, talking a ton, feeling very uppity. Then I got this hot tingling down my back starting at the base of my skull down to my...

Hello, I was on 300 mgs of Gabapentin for 1 year. I reduced it to 100 mgs 1 month ago. My legs and knees are constantly riddled with rheumatic pain, also my leg muscles are getting weak to the extent it's affecting my walking. Could the Gabapentin be causing this? I have bulging discs and nerve compression in the neck. ## It's hard to say, it could be due to lowering the Gabapentin too fast, or it could be due to further degeneration of your condition. About 16 months ago, I was put on Gabapentin for sciatica. Eventually, I worked my way up to around 3000 mg per day and stayed at that dose for quite some time.. maybe 6 months or so. Here recently, I've slowly reduced it down to 1200 mg (600 mg in the morning and 600 mg at night) - My doctor says that Gabapentin shouldn't have any side effects. However, nothing else has changed with my medicines.
