Recently it was fiagnosed that I have partial complex seizures hence the neurologist prescribed Oxetol (to be gradually increased from 150 mg twice a day to 450 mg twice a day). I was NOT TOLD ABOUT ANY CONTRAINDICATED medicines by the Doctor. A week later, I had fever and another GP (who I had told that I am on Oxetol), gave me the anitibiotic Oflox. Only when I suffered excruciating headaches and could not lift my head for an entire day, did I find out through our family physician that Oxcarbazepine and Fluoroqinalones are contraindicated. Then, by the time I was settling into the 300mg dosage (at least four weeks after having started the medication) I had the most terrible itchy and angry rash all over my body which refuses to go. Again, my neurologist had NOT warned me about this. I...

Recently my dosage has been increased from 300mg to 600mg.Getting crampy calf muscles and pins and needle sensations in my feet and hands.Any ideas out there, can this Drug cause this? ## Hello, Jamesie! How are you? It is normal to experience more side effects, when going to a higher dosage of a medication. You may also experience nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and mood swings. However, side effects are usually transient and should go away in a few weeks, once your body gets used to a new medication. If they get severe or linger after about 4 to 6 weeks, you should consult your doctor. Is there anything else I can help with?
My boyfriend has only had 2 episodes. They weren't bad, but he's been taking dilantin since. If he stops taking them will he start having them again? ## Very definatley, no one should stop any seizure meds without drs. knowledge. Also, going off all at once can cause a seizure. ## When I first started dilantin at age 17 , I'm 30 now I was'nt use to taking medication all the time , and I forgot doses, and ended up back in the hospital because of another seizure, the doctor told like Sherry said to not stop taking , he said if you stop real sudden it could cause a massive seizure that could kill me. ## In the case of these types of medications and seizures, you really need to follow your doctor's instructions! ## Hi, I am experiencing unusual dots on my body and I was ...
Found this pill with RA1015 on one side and is + scored on the back, any help would be much appreciated! ## Hi Buck, Do you also know what color this pill is supposed to be? From your description, the closest match I see on the internet is a 500mg Levetiracetam tablet, which only carries the "1015" part of your imprint. The manufacturer of this particular pill is reported to be Torrent Pharma, Inc.; and I have to wonder if they make any other tablets that also have "1015" on them... Although depending on where or who you got it from, another theory is that it may be something that was manufactured outside of the US. Reason I say this is because no other apparent matches come up under popular US search engines, where you can typically find most medications listed that are...
I had hand thumb pain and leg foot pain and neck pain does it is because of side effects with neurontin 400mg ## This medication is usually used to treat nerve pain, though it can also help with mood disorders and seizures. I recently had to change pain drs b/c mine closed his practice. I have been fighting w/my WC company to detox from the pain meds I take for the last 5 years b/c I'm having a lot of detrimental secondary side effects. The new doc's PA is having me come off of the Topiramate (1200 mg daily) to 400mg daily in one month. This seems a little crazy fast to me. When I requested to go slower, she accused me of being argumentative =/ Has anyone else had this kind of experience? I also am on Methadone 40 mg, down from 60 & Fentanyl patch, 50 mpg, down from 100. Any feedback would be welcome! ## Hello, Syd! How are you doing? There is a risk of seizures, if you cut down on the Topiramate too fast, so you are right to want to be cautious. Have you tried speaking to the doctor, rather th...

It's odd that it would cause you to have problems sitting still, because it is often used now to treat RLS. It's also known to cause drowsiness as a side effect, by the FDA. Other typical side effects may possibly include nausea, headache and weight gain. How long have you been taking it? Is this the only medication you take?

My elderly mother is prescribed 800 gabapentin 3x daily. She sometimes takes only one or two doses. What effects will this have? ## Hello, MsDeb! How is your mother doing? It is more effective if taken at regular intervals and taking is on such an irregular schedule could cause various side effects, such as mood swings, headaches and increased pain, as reported by the NIH. It isn't actually harmful to do that, but it can cause some annoyances, such as those I listed above. Is she on any other medications?

is zenoxa a better drug than frisium(clobazam) in terms of long term side effects ## Zenoxa contains the active ingredient Oxcarbazepine, it is an anticonvulsant that is also used to treat other conditions, such as mood disorders. Clobazam is a Benzodiazepine derivative, that is used to treat anxiety and nervous disorders. As to which is safe long-term for any one person, it is really impossible to say. All medications effect everyone differently and you may not have a problem with something that made someone else severely ill. The main thing that is known is that the Benzodiazepine class medications, such as the Clobazam, have a much greater risk of abuse and addiction, Are there any other comments or questions? ## Regarding Autisim and OCD ## i think its not harmful and may not cause ...

Just wondering if Neurontin will turn up in a newborns Mecomium? I have been on them for years for fibro. Since being pregnant my doctor has told me to stop taking them and I just can't for the pain. I know that it isn't scheduled or a controlled substance. But I'm still very worried. Please somebody help! ## It isn't that it's a drug they are going to check for, after the baby is born. I'm thinking your doctor told you to stop taking it due to the risks it can cause to your baby. The FDA has placed it in pregnancy category C, which means they've found evidence of fetal toxicity, they explain it as being delayed ossification of several bones of the skull, vertebra and limb. Other abnormalities in newborns have also been noted in animal studies. It would be be...

I take 600 mg. of gabapentin (3) times a day for nerve pain. For me it has been a miracle drug. I do have difficulty if not almost impossible losing weight and have even gained some. It has been worth the trade off to be able to feel better. Does anyone know how to counteract this? ## Hi Agnes, Sorry to hear about your challenges with Gabapentin. According to the National Library of Medicine, rapid weight gain happens to be a general side effect of this medication. I'm not a doctor, but coming from someone with an athletic background, the best advice I can offer for counteracting it would probably be to follow a strict diet and exercise program. Something that you can commit to as long as you're taking the medication. I would also recommend drinking plenty of water (making that ...
