Now a days he is felling nervous and lost his confidence to go outside alone or do something ## Hello, Boniya! How is your brother doing? This medication is used to prevent seizures. Did they prescribe something to kill the tape worm? ## hello Verwon, thank you so much for your reply.. as you said Phenytoin is to prevent seizures , my brother has been prescribe with this medicine only . do you mean Phenytoin is not for killing tape worm?? what should i do now?? please suggest me something.. i would be really appricate.. many thanks
I have low grade glioma and have been taking Levera 500 + Fresium 10 tablets for the last 12 months from my first paralytic attack. Now I feel numbness and I would like to know if this is a side effect of either medication, and if so, is there another solution for this? ## I am 42 years old and after taking Levera, I'm feeling numbness in my leg which is partially paralyzed after craniotomy. What is the solution? ## Levera is listed as containing Levetiracetam, which is an anticonvulsant. As reported by the U.S. FDA it is not known to cause numbness, like you've both described. Its typical side effects are listed as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain. The numbness is most likely due to the condiments you've both been diagno...
Everything I've read has said to taper off of Topamax at 25mg. increments weekly. I'm on 200mg. My doctor told me to decrease by 100mg. every two weeks, that will be fine. However, after everything I've read I'm really nervous tapering at such a high dose. I would really appreciate any advice anyone could offer me on this matter. Thanks so much! ## Hello, Kelly! How are you? You are right to be concerned, stopping it too fast can create the risk of seizures, even in people that have never had seizures in the past and who do not have epilepsy, as warned by the FDA. The recommendation from the NIH is that it be tapered and yes, it's usually done by lowering 25mgs a week. Is there anything else I can help with? ## Thanks so much Verwon, I really appreciate it! I do have...
Just released me today from the hospital. I had rapid heartbeats, short of breath, I am 70 years old. I have a pacemaker that I am dependent on. Except for some vitamin deficiency, they could not really find what was wrong. I have been taking 5mg oxycodone 3x a day, some days, only twice, for 4 years. I was at pain management for only 2 months. Today was my third visit.. Straight from the hospital. I was in a lot of pain due to Costrochronditus this month because of the way they gave me a steroid shot in my back. (I had to lay on my chest) The first and second steroid shot didn't work either. I could not take a prendisone pill because of the steroid shot, so I had to take extra pain med. I had called my Pain management and told them that I was going to do that. So I get to the pain ...
Following knee replacement surgery I was diagnosed 2 x 100mg Gabapentin. Three times a day. After discharge I had to get a renewed prescription and I have now noticed that the Pharmacist has given me 300mg Gabapentin capsules by mistake. This means I have been on 2 x 300mg Gabapentin Three times a day. Is it a coincidence that three days after being discharged after I started the overdose I have developed cellulitis in the lower leg that had the knee replacement? ## Hello, Paul! How are you? Yes, that most likely is a coincidence, since cellulitis is a type of deep tissue infection. Are you on an antibiotic for it? As to your Gabapentin prescription, you should take that one back to the pharmacy and have them correct it. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nause...
What side affect can the gabapentin with these symtomsWhat if im 83 yrs old and have high blood pressure and diabetic and heart issues can i still take the D 02 capsule ## Hello, Estella! How are you? You can take it, as long as your doctor approves. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight gain. What other medications are you taking?
How long does Dilantin and Naproxen remain in your urine if stopped 3 days before passing away undetermined? And should those 2 meds be given together? My son died at a prison his 15th day there. It's been a year and no one is helping me. I need a time line on those meds please. ## I am so very sorry about your loss and I'll gladly help you with any information I can. For Dilantin it takes anywhere from 110 to 132 hours, or longer in some individuals that may have liver or kidney damage, as reported by the U.S. FDA. (These numbers are overall removal from the body, to be undetectable, except in hair.) Naproxen is approximately 60 to 102 hours, with the same details applying for those with chronic kidney or liver conditions. There are no known interactions or contraindications li...
Hello. I've been taking 1200 mg Neurontin (600 twice daily) for around 4 yrs. I'd like to wean off of it and will off course do so with my Dr.'s supervision. However I will not completely trust her schedule for weaning because of a past experience with her. What schedule would you recommend? I think I read somewhere a recommendation of reducing 10% per month but that seems awfully slow. ## I meant to title it gabapentin reduction schedule not withdrawal schedule!! Can't find a way to edit this. ## Hello, JP! How are you? Well, it does need to be a slow taper, coming off of it too fast can create a risk of seizures. Many people that stopped too suddenly also experienced other symptoms, such as feeling sick, dizzy, spacey and experienced mood swings, among others. The FDA ...
I take 30 mgs of baclofen per day and was recently prescribed gabapentin 300mgs 3 x daily. The other day after taking my last dose of gabapentin, I became extremely lethargic and went to sleep. I awoke to my body slamming on the floor as I had rolled out of bed. This has never happened before. Is it the combination of the two meds that caused this? ## Hello, Zim! How are you? The lethargy may be due to the combination of the two. However, I've not heard reports of falling out of bed. It could've been due to very vivid dreaming, which the Gabapentin can sometimes cause. Other side effects, as listed by the FDA, may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, mood swings and weight changes. Has it happened, again, or just that once? ## Just the one time so far. Thanks...

Even I feel like that but I don't remember much. After some time every thing is good. Please suggest what is wrong with me?? ## Hello, Sandeep! How are you? What you've described can all be normal side effects of anticonvulsant medications, as listed by the FDA. You may also experience dizziness, dry mouth and weight gain. If these symptoms are problematic for you, you could speak to your doctor about possibly trying different medications. Is there anything else I can help with? ## He...

I was put on Lyrica for diabetic nerve pain, but after taking it for 2 weeks, my blood sugar dropped drastically, and I had to be hospitalized. It was determined that Lyrica was responsible, since that was the only thing that had changed. I was taken off the Lyrica immediately. However, I have suffered with constant leg pain for years, and asked my doctor if there was something different I could take. He prescibed Gabapentin for a trial month to see how I do with it. When I got home, I searched the Internet for more information and see that it was primarily prescribed for seizures. My question is: Will I experience the same side effects as I did with Lyrica, and will I become dependent on the medication if it does help. I don't like the possible side effects of mood swings, depressi...

The doctor has taken her off the medication for Barratt's???? She really needs this medication otherwise she is constantly sick. ## What medication was she on for it? Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant that's also shown to help with certain types of mood disorders and some types of nerve pain. The U.S. FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, mood swings and weight gain.
my father came from work. sweating bad. and feeling bad from the medicine. 72yr male, with weakness in his legs and knee legs go out. and his in bad health. giving by the va hospital. help please. mary ## Norman, has he contacted the VA hospital and prescribing doctor about the problem, yet? Gabapentin can cause these types of side effects in anywhere between 1 to 7% of the people that use it. Since it sounds like they were pretty severe and caused him problems walking, its probably not the right medication for him, or it may be too high of a dosage. ## I am a diabetic patient. I complained of pain in the body and hardened hand movements. Doctor prescribed Gabapentin USP 300 mg Capsules for night and 100mg capsules for the morning. I do not know for what reason did he prescribe this. Is...

I have been taking 300mgs of gabapentin 100mgs three times a day I suffer with a fast irregular heartbeat and since taking this medication it has been much worse and keeping me awake at night do you think I should continue as I am trying to stop my nightime diazepam 5mgs and treat the nerve pain I have from rotator cuff injury and back spasms from a chronic back condition ## Hello, Rose! How are you? You should have this checked out by your doctor. Gabapentin has been known to cause high blood pressure and tachycardia in some people that take it, as reported by the FDA. If it continues out of control, it could become dangerous. This just might not be the right medication for you to take and you may need to try something else. Has there been any change?
