I had a brain stroke 15 days ago and have been prescribed 100mg of Eption to treat headaches that are common after such strokes. I cant stand the hideous side effects of any of the other bipolar drugs anymore .I take 450mg lithium now. Hoping topamax can work . ANYONE ON TOPAMAX? I wanted to see if anyone can tell me the known side effects with smoking majiuana and taking lamictal, if any. I have been trying to get info on this for about 2 months and can not seem to get anything back on it. I started trileptal at 16 or 17 years old, took it for about 5 years, and have been off of any psychiatric meds for about 4 or 5 years now. I developed a slight tick that doesn't interfere with my day to day, but I notice it. People close to me have never pointed it out, so I don't think it's obvious, but sometimes I have to try twice to pick something up because my finger or neck/head twitches. I would like some feedback on some meds I get from my psychiatrist and to hear from other people about how they have reacted to them. For example, I was given lamotrigine and told it was for my anxiety but I had another psychiatrist tell me this is a bipolar med? My first doctor didn't mention anything about possibly treating me for bipolar disorder. Has this happened to anyone else? I have been taking 300 to 900 mg's of Gabapentin for at least 15 yrs. for restless legs..doesn't seem to be enough now but am hesitant in taking more. Would it help if I took Cal Mag supplements as well at night? I also take a good magnesium supplement at night too. Also because of a recent trauma I'm on one mg of Clonazepam as well which doesn't much help. It puts me out for a couple of hours and then I'm awake. I've been so strung out on Gabapentin and Flexaril, which severely affect your sleep. I found a little something which is a blessing. Chloral Hydrate. It comes from China. This drug will get you to sleep fast and you'll stay asleep. Just 2-3 grams a night and you're out like a light. I was able to get off Gabapentin and Flexeril, both drugs that ruin your sleep. The crystals dissolve in water. There is no hangover. It tastes like s*** but I just chase with water. While I was on 100 mg of gabapentin 3 to es a day my body felt sick. Nausea and headaches were the worst. Then so.a days I was just fine. I am taperi g now and I feel worse. Anything that will help with the tapering. I'm in 100 mg a day. I'm ready to be done with this drug. ## Those can be normal side effects of this medication, according to the FDA, other typical side effects may include dizziness, drowsiness, mood swings, and weight gain. As to the tapering, there isn't really much you can do to help, just take it as slowly as possible. How long have you been taking it? Are you on any other medications?

I am 43 years old.taking eptoin 350 mg daily at night since last 3 years.when can i stop it? ## Why are you taking it? If you suffer from epilepsy and experience seizures, you may require a medication like this for the rest of your life and there is nothing wrong with that, if that is the case. I have been on Topamax for over 15 years for Bipolar.....And it Does Work. However I don't Like the Brain Fog it causes and I can be a real b**** at times. I am gradually weaning myself off. I have started using cannabis oil and have found this works much better for me.

I've been taking 100mg @ night for 3 weeks. I have lightheadedness in the morning. Could it be gabapentin, or the caffeine from coffee that I take about 1/2 to 45 minutes before I get the lightheadedness? ## I was on this medication several years ago and one of the side effects was lightheadness. I also had headaches. ## Hi Sharon, According to NIH.gov, if you notice dizziness, drowsiness or nausea while on Gabapentin, you should talk with your doctor. The MayoClinic also confirms that lightheadedness is a side effect of Gabapentin. Something else worth noting is that a caffeine overdose can cause dizziness as well. I don't know how much caffeine you take, but I wouldn't rule it out as a possible contributing factor. Hope you feel better soon!
