It's a light purple and white capsule that hold a solid white pill inside. The size of the capsule is regular. I take 4 a day, and have been doing that for 11 years. ## At therapeutic doses, phenytoin produces horizontal gaze nystagmus, which is harmless but occasionally tested for by law enforcement as a marker for alcohol intoxication (which can also produce nystagmus). At toxic doses, patients experience sedation, cerebellar ataxia, and ophthalmoparesis, as well as paradoxical seizures. Idiosyncratic side effects of phenytoin, as with other anticonvulsants, include rash and severe allergic reactions. Phenytoin may accumulate in the cerebral cortex over long periods of time, as well as causing atrophy of the cerebellum when administered at chronically high levels. Despite this, th...

I cant stand the hideous side effects of any of the other bipolar drugs anymore .I take 450mg lithium now. Hoping topamax can work . ANYONE ON TOPAMAX? DRS DONT WANT TO USE IT. ## Topamax, which contains the active ingredient Topiramate, is an anticonvulsant. Some have used it to treat BiPolar disorder, but it is not approved for such uses, which is probably why most doctors do not want to prescribe it. It has some pretty serious side effects, too, include: nausea, headache, anorexia and memory prroblems. You can read more here: Has anyone else tried this medication for BiPolar disorder? ## I am currently on Toplep 50mg twice a day along with Nuzak 40mg. Can someone please help me I found these pills on my daughters floor I've been suspecting drug abuse I need to know for sure so I can confront her but don't wanna feel stupid if it's something else thanks in advance ## Based on the description provided the closest match I've seen here is a white oblong pill marked with "SLC | 224" on one side and blank on the other. This particular pill reportedly contains 1000mgs of Levetiracetam, which is used to treat epilepsy. Is there any chance that the imprint could've been misinterpreted due to the pill's condition? If not, you could try taking it into a local pharmacy for a second opinion. However I ultimately think it would be best to have an open heart to heart discussion with your daughter until you see eye to...

I started trileptal at 16 or 17 years old, took it for about 5 years, and have been off of any psychiatric meds for about 4 or 5 years now. I developed a slight tick that doesn't interfere with my day to day, but I notice it. People close to me have never pointed it out, so I don't think it's obvious, but sometimes I have to try twice to pick something up because my finger or neck/head twitches. Should I expect this to be permanent? I know it's on the list of side effects for trileptal. Could it be degenerative? ## Hi Mia, Sorry to hear about your experience with Trileptal. I find it unusual that symptoms would linger for so long even after stopping the medication. In most cases I've been aware of, one should expect adverse effects to subside after discontinuing the ...

If someone can please help me with these help with an opiate withdrawal or would they not? ## Hello, Jimmie! How are you? Gabapentin can be used to help minimize some of the withdrawal effects you may experience, such as the anxiety, dizziness, rebound pain and mood swings. Its typical side effects may possibly include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth and weight changes. It really depends how severe your withdrawals are, if they are very bad, it may not help much. Wondering how the Cipla Lamotrigine worked for others at the 150 mg dosage? I have seen many that liked the brand Teva. ## It can vary from person to person, the only way to know if it will work well for you is by trying it. I would like some feedback on some meds I get from my psychiatrist and to hear from other people about how they have reacted to them. For example, I was given lamotrigine and told it was for my anxiety but I had another psychiatrist tell me this is a bipolar med? My first doctor didn't mention anything about possibly treating me for bipolar disorder. Has this happened to anyone else? I would also like to become a regular member and learn the rules; get past becoming a "newbie" so I can learn the rules and intricacies of what you all share here. ;) ## Lamotrigine is an anticonvulsant that can also work as a mood stabilizer, so it doesn't necessarily have to be prescribed just for bipolar disorder, it can be used to treat many mental health conditions. I have been taking 300 to 900 mg's of Gabapentin for at least 15 yrs. for restless legs..doesn't seem to be enough now but am hesitant in taking more. Would it help if I took Cal Mag supplements as well at night? I also take a good magnesium supplement at night too. Also because of a recent trauma I'm on one mg of Clonazepam as well which doesn't much help. It puts me out for a couple of hours and then I'm awake. Between the restless legs and the lack of sleep my nights are a bloody nightmare and I'm totally fatigued the next day. Any help out there. Also I'm 75 yrs. old. ## Since my last post, I've seen my doctor and she says I can take 4 gabapentin a night so 1200mg's. It's a lot I know but it's helping the restless legs. I've been so strung out on Gabapentin and Flexaril, which severely affect your sleep. I found a little something which is a blessing. Chloral Hydrate. It comes from China. This drug will get you to sleep fast and you'll stay asleep. Just 2-3 grams a night and you're out like a light. I was able to get off Gabapentin and Flexeril, both drugs that ruin your sleep. The crystals dissolve in water. There is no hangover. It tastes like s*** but I just chase with water. Do not abuse this drug or you'll be sorry. ## Hi Tedster, Sorry to hear about your challenges with sleep. Chloral Hydrate is actually something I've never heard of up till this point, so I want to thank you for mentioning it! Upon researching Chloral Hydrate I also noticed that the US National Library of Med...

While I was on 100 mg of gabapentin 3 to es a day my body felt sick. Nausea and headaches were the worst. Then so.a days I was just fine. I am taperi g now and I feel worse. Anything that will help with the tapering. I'm in 100 mg a day. I'm ready to be done with this drug. ## Those can be normal side effects of this medication, according to the FDA, other typical side effects may include dizziness, drowsiness, mood swings, and weight gain. As to the tapering, there isn't really much you can do to help, just take it as slowly as possible. How long have you been taking it? Are you on any other medications?

I've been taking 100mg @ night for 3 weeks. I have lightheadedness in the morning. Could it be gabapentin, or the caffeine from coffee that I take about 1/2 to 45 minutes before I get the lightheadedness? ## I was on this medication several years ago and one of the side effects was lightheadness. I also had headaches. ## Hi Sharon, According to NIH.gov, if you notice dizziness, drowsiness or nausea while on Gabapentin, you should talk with your doctor. The MayoClinic also confirms that lightheadedness is a side effect of Gabapentin. Something else worth noting is that a caffeine overdose can cause dizziness as well. I don't know how much caffeine you take, but I wouldn't rule it out as a possible contributing factor. Hope you feel better soon!
