Pending a formal diagnosis (one psychiatrist felt I was low-level bipolar, my current psychiatrist feels I have a severe mood disorder involving extreme lows and highs, but without the delusions associated with bipolar). I have recently been put on a course of lamotrigine - starting on 25mg a day and now on 100mg per day. Initially I felt it had really worked in balancing out my moods. In particular my tendency to engage in risky behaviors (drugs, alcohol and extreme promiscuity) have definitely lessened. However, in the past two weeks my feelings of self-loathing, insecurity and resentment of others have crept back in. I am on 600mgs gabapentin 3 times daily. It has caused weight gain and due to the short duration of action I have to dose three separate times. I wanted to know if pregabalin might be better for me. I take gabbys for anxiety and mood disorder. I have heard pregabalin is more efficient and effective. Any feedback is appreciated. Thanks. ## There's no way to say which one is more efficient and effective for any given person that tries it, since we are all different. What works well for one person may not work for another, and vice versa. I have been taking Gabapentin 300 mgs.- 2 caps 3 x's a day. have continued to gain weight and cannot lose it. A friend said that Gabapentin is the reason. I researched it and it is true. My mom was taking 100 mg of Dilantin 3 times a day. I complained to her dr that she was too tired so he changes the dosage to 3 100 mg at night all at once before bed. Hello, I am taking buspar, topamax and zoloft. At court my drug test results were NEGATIVE but showed traces of benzo, barbituates, pcp and marijuana. I have been clean for over three months and although the results said negative, the child advocate and lawyer said that I was positive because of very low traces. Does that happen??

I am new to Vimpat. I am currently titrating my dose up from 50mg twice a day...up to 150mg twice a day. My problem is that the evening dose of Vimpat causes terrible insomnia (and I already have chronic sleeping troubles), and it also causes vivid nightmares. I have been on 400 mg. of lamotrigene for about 8 yrs for PTSD, I have had extensive therapy and they feel I no longer need them. I feel so great now I want to come off this horrific drug. I tried dropping 200 of the 400 mg. for a week and was pure pure hell. So now I am taking 150 in the morning and 150 at night. So thats a drop of 50 instead of the 200. Can anyone tell me what is the best way to cut this drug out of my life? ## Stopping it too fast can also create a risk of seizures, according to the U.S. FDA, so a slow taper is best. Eptoin contains the active ingredient Phenytoin, it is an antiseizure medication. It isn't know to cause pain, as a side effect, but it is impossible to say the effect that any given medication will have on any given person. If I take a drug test, will they be able to pick up that I take 50 mg per day of Lamotrigine. If I stop taking it, how long will it stay in my system? ## I took 25 mg. of lamotigine for nine days--felt it was not agreeing with me. How long would it take to leave my system? I stopped two days ago. ## I developed the rash after only a few days, though my dosage was higher. I take 300 mg gabapentin morning and night and having trouble remembering names. I plan to try adding 5 mg Aricept to see if helps memory. I like not having the pain but would like to get my memory back. ## That can be a side effect of most anticonvulsants, and there isn't really anything that will change it, other than trying a different medication. Today is day 7 of 1 pill daily, only 100mg. Second attempt trying this drug, don't like it. Can I simply stop? ## Hello, Suzi! How are you? What types of problems are you having with it?
